The Vernee Apollo 2 will debut at MWC 2017 with 8GB of RAM and the Helio X30 CPU

Although the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show was fairly quiet for mobile-tech related news and announcements, we're expecting a whole lot from this month's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. LG's G6 is expected to be the star of the show, but we're also anticipating a ton of smaller gadgets to keep us on our toes during the event. Vernee, a startup based out of Shenzhen that's been creating smartphones since February of 2016, announced at CES last month that it would be debuting a handset with MediaTek's all-new Helio X30 processor at the 2017 Mobile World Congress, and a new leak on Twitter has revealed a lot of juicy details about the upcoming product.

The leak comes by way of Ronald Quandt who tweeted what appears to be an official bit of marketing material for Vernee's latest smartphone. The device in question is supposedly called the Apollo 2, and Vernee is marketing it as the "world's first Helio X30 smartphone." The phone will be a successor to the Vernee Apollo (pictured above), and for those who care about all of the nitty gritty specs of MediaTek's latest piece of silicon, the X30 consists of a deca-core setup with an IMG 7XTP-MT4 GPU that's clocked at a speed of 820MHz.

In addition to the Helio X30, the Vernee Apollo 2 will also reportedly ship with a Quad HD display and come in two main configurations - one with 64GB of storage and 6GB of RAM or 128GB of storage with 8GB of RAM. The only other smartphone that we know of with 8GB of RAM is Asus's ZenFone AR, and this is all quite impressive considering the young age of Vernee as a company.

We currently don't have any word as to how much the Apollo 2 will cost, but of the few handsets that Vernee has previously released, we can likely expect the Apollo 2 to feature a very competitive price tag as compared to competing handsets. Thankfully, with MWC right around the corner, we likely won't have to wait too long to get more details on the upcoming handset.
