The Sony Xperia Z can take 999 pictures in 68 seconds

0. phoneArena 10 Feb 2013, 14:52 posted on

While the Sony Xperia Z was the hot handset following its CES appearance, some of the buzz disappeared during the launch of the BlackBerry Z10, but that doesn't take one thing away from the waterproof, dustproof Xperia Z which set hearts a flutter with its 5 inch FHD screen and quad-core Snapdragon processor...

Sony promised that 4.2 jelly bean will hit soon upon launching, and for future updates they depend on how hot is the device in the market

Yes we all know nokia can take a picture. Ashton Kutcher shows us that. But when is nokia going to realize that a they are making PHONES and are TRYING I repeat TRYING to compete in the smartPHONE game. All they ever do is make a camera that can make phone calls. As for their actual functionality they blow, Lumia series is a perfect example. They have to be the worst phones available. Yes they have a camera, but considering that's all they can do I'd rather go buy a real camera to take pictures. ZTE and Huewai make WAY better phones then Nokia. And Sony's Z and ZL model blow anything nokia has out of the water.

I think that perfect example is Nokia 808 PureView not Nokia Lumia 920. i think that Nokia Lumia 920 is a better smartphone than Nokia 808 PureView.

But in overall I agree with you, Nokia shouldn't focus only on good camera.

+1

Emilly is a troll and you caught the bait perfectly.

I am sorry but if you say the lumia 920 "blows", "lacks functionality", and that huawei and zte "make WAY better phones than nokia", then you are also trolling, and I am gonna eat your bait too (the irony).

I enjoy the hypocrisy of sony fanboys who on every other article regarding comparisons between competitors or just other competitors' devices like to harp on about how sony makes the best cameras on smartphones like its a major selling point of a smartphone.

Yet when another competitors' arguably superior product is brought into the limelight they switch gears and all of a sudden its who cares a bout camera performance.

FYI when most people buy a phone they always check the screen, battery life and camera quality. If you go into a phone store this week and stay a bit I can guarantee you will here a few consumers asking something along the lines of, "is the camera any good?". Also if cameras were such a none feature sony, htc, samsung, apple, etc; wouldn't make such a big deal about it all the time.

And yes I do a agree the the xperia Z blows anything nokia has out the water. I am not afraid to admit that. So why is it so hard for you to accept the fact that the 808 does take better pics than than the Z as well as the fact that 999 shots in one min is really not gonna be needed other than for bragging rights?

I really really like and respect (and want) Nokia 808, and completely believe that it is one best Camera Phone out there, but taking 1 picture vs Burst mood with 999 pictures in about a minute is something very different and amazing too.

There are moments when Burst comes in handy and I know because I used it.

Still waiting to find out when the Z will be shipping in the U.S. and whether it will be available on VZW. If a VZW edition will be available, it might be my next phone.

It is the owners choice if they want to put the camera in burst mode long enough to fill up the memory. Typically, there is a buffer that gets filled and burst shots stop until the buffer gets cleared (written to storage). Sony seems to have found a way to immediately write to storage from the sensor (or, they have really fast buffer clearance). Either way, with open-ended burst mode, the chance of missing a keeper shot (like a surfer catching a wave at its peak break) is significantly reduced.

Xperia Z also gets less than 10 hours of battery life and barely 3 hours of screen on time, as expected from Sony.

these statistics show it battery life at the highest rate of usage and while the screen is at its brightest condition. so, the result is not too bad. and don't forget about stamina mode. we can't judge till the real review of it.

You are in denial. These statistics do not show the battery life at highest rate of usage nor the screen at its brightest condition. These statistics show Xperia Z has a very poor battery life.

Rustic, drop it! They said the same about the iPhone 4s and my RAZR, but I routinely get two days from each. It's all how you optimize it.

no, it shows that as it is clear from your name, you try to show off in every Sony post in order to attack it. i wonder if you can decide which brand you're supporting.

Well I've used both Z and ZL and I would say the screen time is between 3.30 to 4 hours. But that's not all since comparing 2 devices comes down to drivers, screen settings, contrast....

Gonna do some more testing this weekend.

If this help educating you a little bit, video and taking single snap are 2 different things. Major dIfference is in the resolution of pictures.

And I am not against Lumia nor Nokia, just wanted you to understand this simple thing so you don't make yourself a joke again and perhaps understand the technology better.

Well fundamentally i do not see the difference, except for the resolution. Even tho 720p is a decent photo in itself, i made the joke cos i see no point in this feature..
Plus you can capture any of 30fps so what exactly is the difference?
