The Sony QX10/Sony QX100 now focus when you press the shutter half way

0. phoneArena 15 Apr 2014, 09:31 posted on

Sony has released a new update for its detachable lens-style cameras, the Sony DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100, which enables users of these nifty accessories to focus before shooting by pressing the shutter key of their Sony smartphones half way down. The recent update also brought another set of improvements – photography aficionados would appreciate the newly-implemented functionality that allows them to manually adjust the ISO sensitivity of the lens cameras before they take that perfect shot. Alas, you won't be able to benefit from this if you are toting a non-Sony mobile device...

My uncle bought this to use it in conjunction with his telescope... and to our surprise, the camera was more capable than pricier sets he owns in many situations... (QX-100)

I have to agree that it is very bulky for a daily camera, but it is AWESOME for special ocasions like birthday parties or traveling...

And even without flash, the OSS + high ISO settings manage to take incredibly good low light photos....

dont know what you meant....

But the highlight for this upgrade was that now I am able to use the 2 stage shutter key on my phone, instead of using the one on the camera or on the screen.... very cool specially when shooting remotely

well the software for the camera was already pretty good... this is just an improvement with extra features...

The Title of the Article is as always misleading.... The Camera already did half way focus with the shutter... now it is able to do it with your phone shutter key and with the virtual shutter

I encourage you to experiment with high ISO settings, exposure and shutter priority...

If your subjects are not moving, the low light pictures will come very good...

Sadly, flash is needed for moving subjects or if you want to take faster pics... I.E. my 2 y/o boy in a birthday party at night... he will not stand still for long...

However in daylight the pics are stunning

I would like it to have a small viewfinder (like old cameras) instead of flash... (unless they can cram both features in the next gen.)

I know, before this camera I wouldnt imagine that a night photo without flash could be so good, but there are situations that flash is needed as you have said and zoom is great too, I was travelling to Paris and managed to take great pictures from the eiffel tower to the Arch of Triumph thanks to zoom.
