The Samsung Convoy is a phone that you shouldn't mess with
Another handset that got announced at Verizon’s event in New York today is the Samsung Convoy, of which we told you yesterday. While it is not nearly as hi-tech as the other phones we got to see here like the HTC DROID ERIS and the BlackBerry Curve 8530, the Samsung Convoy is special in its own way. This PTT handset is designed to meet the 810F military standard for ruggedness that means resistance against shock, dust, vibration, salt fog, humidity, solar radiation and altitude, as well as storage in places with a too low or too high temperature. Sounds like this one is a true survivor, doesn’t it?

Other features supported by the Convoy include Bluetooth 2.1, 2-megapixel camera, GPS, 1300mAh battery, EV-DO Rev. A connectivity and a high-quality speaker. It will become available on November 15 for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a two-year contract.

Expect our hands-on with the Samsung Convoy a bit later!

first the z400 and now this, why does samsung think that rugged=ugly? the v950 isnt exactly a head turner, but at least its got some style.

Looks like they took LG's VX8360 body and ruggedized it

Does anyone else have problems with the reception on the Samsung Convoy? Mine is terrible - everyone sounds like they are mumbling through a tin bucket!!!
