The LG G3 finally gets its Android 6.0 Marshmallow update on AT&T (UPDATE: T-Mobile, too)

UPDATE: According to reports, T-Mobile owners of the G3 can obtain Marshmallow through LG's PC Suite. An over-the-air update shouldn't be too far off.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update first began to appear for the LG G3 at the turn of the year. Way back in February, Verizon then pushed the latest flavor of Google's firmware out to its customers rocking LG's two-year-old flagship. Now, finally, AT&T owners of the device can get involved and reap the many benefits bundled into build number MRA58K. 

If you've been following our coverage of Marshmallow's grand roll-out, you'll probably be familiar with most of the features. After you download and install the update, you get the Doze power management tool, Google Now on Tap and app permissions, along with a multitude of other tweaks and enhancements. As ever, the AT&T LG G3 update is a phased one, so might take a while to reach your device. At any rate, you can take a more proactive approach by firing up the Settings app, navigating to About Phone and checking the Software Information menu. 

Given that the G3 launched on Android 4.4.2 KitKat, it's great to see that it's still getting some love. Plenty of smartphones and tablets from that era have been left out to fester like old news. Though often derided for their high prices, you do, at least, tend to get a bit more software mileage out of flagship handsets like the G3.
