0. phoneArena 16 May 2012, 21:50 posted on

When we first saw the headlines popping up that the Japanese variant of the Samsung Galaxy S III would have 2GB of RAM, we didn't believe it. We scoured the DoCoMo website and looked through all of the documentation...

Samsung should put this on the International version of their Exynos 5/4412 Beast GPU HD Tablet.

There is decently a need to have more ram in these mini computers. Too whoever wrote this artical underplaying that is kinda stupid. I can see on waiting on quad core cpu over waiting on getting more ram. Let alone dedicating certain ram to do certain things. It's like on my galaxy nexus if I put widgets on all of my screens and fill them up I have a hard time even using my phone. True there is other bottlenecks besides ram but that has always been one of those fractures in the speed of a computer that gets overlooked by the CPU.

I agree with you.

2GB's of RAM is also necessary if we want the phone to get Jelly Beans and whatever comes next.

You can never have enough RAM.

I don't know why you guys need 2 Gigs of RAM. I am using a rooted Galaxy S II at this point with Custom ROMs, Apex Launcher, 3 games, 2 browsers, and 5 other apps(Twitter, Gmail, 5 widgets on homescreen, Youtube, Contacts, Phone) open with still 363 MB left and I bet I can open 10 more apps and switch between them without any lag or performance hit. Why you guys need 2 Gigs of RAM is honestly beyond me.

Isnt matter if needing 2 GB Ram is the choice of having in it. Lets face it I would rather be 1.2 GM left than 363 Ram. I know for fact that I will never fall short

I opened all those stuff just to prove that I can, in reality, I would never open all those stuff, and for those of you thumbing my comment down, tell me why?? I am asking you guys a question, I am sure most of you won't ever open all these stuff then why would you want 2 GB? Don't give me the bigger is better and "just to make sure", because I have never maxed out my 1 GB RAM.

Your problem is you don't want to accept the answer.
bvalde09 gave you the reason we want 2 GBs of RAM.
It's our right to choose. Who gives a F*** if we need it or not.
Allow me break it down for you.
You don't NEED a house you can live in a shelter or under a bridge.
You don't NEED a car you can walk or catch a bus.
You don't NEED a smartphone you can use an old flip phone or find a pay phone.

It's more about whether you eat quad core exynos or dual core snapdragon s4 with 2 gigs of ram . So I guess both of them are about the same speed .
I think USA models will get the same combo as Japan

2 GB on a phone it's like 8 gigs on a pc. Useless. Even worse, in a phone may waste more battery.

I'll start making phones with 6 GB Ram, 50 MP camera, eight core processors, without gsm radio and will call it "Magic" - will sell like crazy.

Just because you can't make use of 8GB's of RAM on a PC doesn't mean that it's useless.

Idiot.

You're the idiot in this case. He was comparing it to what is possible on the phone.

It's stupid to even compare a smartphone to a PC, you can do much much much much more on a PC.

I can easily use 8GB's of RAM on a PC.. Heck, I can even use 32GB's of RAM.

People like you want to hold technology back.

Actualy you are totally wrong, because if it is new generation of RAM, then it is two times faster and two times use less power.

I dont get it? why crapdragon has ability to get 2GB of RAM but not the exynos? Not even in quad-core!! Am I get something wrong here??

The amount of RAM has no bearing on the processor. It's a dual-core Exynos in this model and in the US models because the quad-core is based on older architecture that doesn't work with LTE.

Besides which, the functional difference between the quad-core Exynos and dual-core will be pretty much zero. Sure, the quad will have better benchmarks, but you probably wouldn't notice the difference in actual usage.

When LG creates a phone with to 2GB ram you say it's overkill.

But then samsung makes one too and you say it's necessary.

Obviously fanboys... -_-

Did you also notice that the japanese samsung site refers to a 1.5GHz DUAL core CPU ????? So , before trying to find a way to order from Japan the Galaxy SIII , please consider that it may be a mistake ... or , the worst case senario , a 2GB RAM Galaxy SIII with a DUAL core 1.5 GHZ processor !!!

I heard the same. Dual core instead of quad core. But it would be great to see that Samsung S III is even faster (not only in benchmarks) than quad core version thanks to 2 gigs.

This is something many users all around the world were expecting with this phone. It is just not fair that they release it in one market and they will certainly loose sails to phones such as the LTE2
