The HTC One won't carry the DROID brand, but Verizon still wants to clear out HTC DROID stock

The HTC One is on its way to Verizon, and while the device will not be under the DROID brand, Verizon is still looking to clear out stock of the old HTC DROID devices. So, Verizon has flagged both the HTC DROID Incredible 4G LTE and the HTC DROID DNA as being on "close out". Unfortunately, while Verizon wants to get rid of stock, it doesn't look to be offering any deals on these devices...

The release of the Butterfly S throws a curve ball into this whole situation though. A little too early to tell if the @DroidLanding account was reactivated solely for a game. And who's to say that VZW won't bring both the BS in as an upgraded DNA?

Or both of these are free at Best Buy right now.

why would you pay 200 bucks for a phone thats 7 months old and has worse specs than a phone you can get for 99 on contract, i dont think they're gonna sell out

Why the hate on the pricing. The gs3 held a $199 price till recently, the Note 2 is $199, the razr maxx hd is $199, And the iPhones always hold the $199 price until right when the new one drops. And these are all over 7 months old. The DNA is a very capable phone offering high end specs. I just don't understand the comments about it being "absurd" or saying "assuming anyone is willing to pay"

"The HTC DROID DNA is still listed at $199.99 with a 2-year contract, which is a fairly absurd price given that the phone was released about 7 months ago" .......
iPhone 5 was released about 9 months ago and is priced at $199+ on a new 2-year contract, I guess that's just waaaaay overpriced!!
(And, that's just the 16GB)
By PhoneArena's argument, iPhone 5 should be FREE!!

Then don't list it as a "Closeout". To anyone the word closeout means they're on clearance and on sale. How is something on closeout when the price is the same as it's always been? Is the iPhone 5 listed as Closeout on their site too? You will see retailers and even carriers drop the price of the current iPhone when the new one is about to release just like they did with the GS3 right before the 4 launched. At least knock $50 off the price. Why would someone buy the DNA when they can get the S4 for the same price? Not very smart on VZWs part if they really want to move them.

HTC is not Apple and will never be Apple. Apple can get away with just about anything(patenting squares, rectangles, rubber effects, introducing half baked antennas, siri,,etc). HTC can't do that and expect to survive.

Makes absolutely no sense to come out with the one. Verizon the people that litter this and similar forum wont actually purchase the one. They mostly ask for it when in reality they won't be buying it. Should have waited for the butterfly s. if they come out with the butterfly and one......so stupid

I think the problem with the price is the fact that the GS4 is also $199. Both great devices, but5 when you place a lesser known DNA up against a very recently released Galaxy S you've doom the DNA to a big slump in sales. There's only one iPhone, so people will still pay whatever for that until the next one is released. I think VZW should bring it down to $149 or something before the One gets there, or they'll have a warehouse full of DNAs they'll have to have a fire sale on.

Incredible 4g is free & DNA is $99.99 at VZW's BJ's locations

And the DNA is free at Best Buy. For a phone that was $200 a few months ago. They're definitely clearing out stock... question is: are they replacing with just the One or the One and a new DNA?

The price would be absurd at $200 but all over this web site is an ad with it for free at Best Buy... as a retailer who does not have that price, I can only hope we can compete with that sooner rather than later!
