The Google Nexus 4 is taken apart

0. phoneArena 16 Nov 2012, 21:24 posted on

So iFixit did their thing with the Google Nexus 4 and found no surprises although getting to the battery apparently required more hard work than expected; the rear cover contained pressure contacts to power the NFC antenna and connect the induction coil for wireless charging...

Battery seems "easy" to replace..I wonder if that battery model is easy to buy in amazon....but anyways....until they release a 32GB version....this phone is a no buy.

Agreed 16 gig, which is only 13 user available is simply not enough.

If you upload your music to google music and keep it off your device it's plenty IMO. I have a 16gb iPhone 5 and haven't run into need for more space yet. But different folks need different things.

Exactly what I do with my GNex. Add to that, since I bought the N7, I really don't play games on my phone as much as I used to so there's less space being used for that.

I prefer phones with max storage. My ip5 is 64 and I'm gonna grab the 64 gnote 2

Do not bother paying for the 64gb Gnote 2,simply get the 16gb model. A 64gb class 10 Ultrafast sandisk micro sd card are available for roughly 40 bucks online.

Meh. My Android has only 2.65 GB of internal memory and i'm contended and now i don't even know what to put in to it. (Occupied 1.5gb out of 2.65 Gb now)

16 Gig with 13 gig is big enough i must say....at least this may have SD card slot instead of the iPhone with 8GB and you are stuck with it forever.....and updating iOS may require 2GB... so u'r left with 6GB... ouch.

It's not really that bad if you think about your options. You could just get an external microSD card reader, or you can get a USB (F) to MicroUSB (M) cable and get any memory stick you want. The Nexus 4 does have USB host abilities, take advantage of that.

It is kind of inconvenient, but if the only thing really bad about the Nexus 4 is the lack of expandable storage, why not fix it?

16GB aren't enought? What are you going to store there?
4 Movies in .mkv 720p?
2500+ mp3?
It's a smartphone, not an Hard Drive!
And if you want more space, just plug a USB stick with the micro USB connector converter!

Agreed. Not enough?? GET CLOUD STORAGE DAMMIT!

BOX in android is having a promotion of free 50 GB of cloud storage! STOP WHINING ABOUT 16GB IS ''TINY''....My android phone has 2.65GB and i ain't complaining- My previous Wildfire S has 180MB of storage- Worse.. and i ain't complainin.

From Daily experience alot of customers don't like or trust cloud storage. Plus it all depends on network coverage for reliant speed and access as well as the battery usage implications involved from streaming media from a cloud rather than accessing it from memory card storage. I'd use a 64gb micro sd card myself anyday over online cloud storage

8GB. I am still puzzled why Google thought having only 8GB in this day was a good idea.

It's not that there's anything wrong with 8, but that won't work for everyone. I have almost 8 n just music and videos, 12 n pics/vids, then my app/games. I still have over 30 gigs left. I don't have unlimited data so I don't have the luxury of streaming from the cloud all day, so having a large amount of flash comes n handy

Didn't they release a 8GB iPhone 4s right before the iPhone 5 came out?

No it's 16gb. But for $299 off contract, who can complain? It's only $50 more for double the storage.
