The Galaxy S 4 may help Samsung double its lead over the second-biggest phone maker in 2013

0. phoneArena posted on 21 Mar 2013, 10:30

Sure, everyone knows that the Galaxy S 4 will sell extremely well, but according to research firm IHS iSupply, the GS 4 will actually be the driving force behind a substantial boost for Samsung, which will eventually leave it a doubled lead over the second-biggest phone maker this year...

Don't know which idiots are thumbing you down... One is a great phone but for me is the s4 mainly due to the SD card and bigger screen in a smaller phone than the one but just. My brother is getting the one because of the metal build.

Hope you don't have VZW!

Should combine the S4 and Note 3 since it's a one two punch against the competition. Doesn't Apple due the same with it's iPad's now?

7. Bernoulli posted on 21 Mar 2013, 11:55 4 1

No because you can't make a phone call from an ipad, but on the note II you can, and the note III will only shake things up even more, I love my note II but I do envy other phone's pixel density, that's the only thing, other than that it's fantastic

"but I do envy other phone's pixel density,"

Note II is what - 6 months old? Back when it was released, its display was competitive with other large screen flagship phones. Yes, HTC released the DNA about 1 month afterwards, but the rest of the pack were in the same ballpark with the Note II. More importantly, the Note II had the better processor and memory combination, even over the non-U.S. spec GS III. Expect the Note III to get the octa-core CPU while the U.S. spec GS IV gets the S600.

No wine before its time.

We can pretty much guarantee that the Note 3 will have a 1080p display at minimum. That should take the dpi rating above 330 to 400 depending on screen size. As long as Sammy increases the dpi, speed, battery life and s-pen I don't care if it looks the same or made from plastic.

I completely agree, except it's PPI, not DPI. PPI refers to the number of pixels per inch on a screen. DPI means dots per inch. It's a software setting that can be changed independent of the PPI.

You're better off with the Note II's display than the Galaxy S3's.

The Note II has over 40 less pixels per inch than the Galaxy S3, but due to RGB the Note II looks clearer.

Extra 5% is very conservative considering all Nokia has now is the Asha for the low end. They have newer low end models like the 520 and 720 but since it is Windows Phone, don't expect many orders. Samsung pretty much has the low end and mid range market to themselves now along with Sony.

HTC seems to have stopped and Nokia is slowing down.

So basically it is Samsung vs. Sony vs. Kirf brands vs. really old flagships in the low end. Although Kirfs probably sell decently, Samsung has the rest beat.

Low end Sony? !?!?! Show us, please do because Sony has never made low end phones.

Xperia J, Xperia U, Xperia SP etc. all pretty recent. Xperia L as well

That's a good example of middle end mobiles, but I asked the bloke about low end mobiles mate

13. Taters posted on 21 Mar 2013, 13:21 3 1

I did group low end and mid range in my original post. The context of this article is overall sales.

16. Berzerk000 posted on 21 Mar 2013, 14:12 1 1

Xperia tipo, Xperia miro, and Xperia E. Though those were released last year, they are all low end.

27. Bernoulli posted on 21 Mar 2013, 23:38

Low end phones are feature phones mate. ..

Dead Before Arrival?

Don't put the cart before the horse.

Developing countries, as well as a good number of countries in the Middle East, Europe, and South America will eat these up.

I don't think so, but maybe it will. Its just confusing, the S4's design was still disappointing, but the specs are awesome, Samsung is just making their customers a head of question marks. If Samsung is still leading this year, I have nothing to say, but I will just say congrats to Samsung.

21. bachir8k posted on 21 Mar 2013, 15:41 3

hahahaha, they will just convince themselves "it's only plastic phones", OMG i just cannot wait to see the mid-range Iphone will be made of... same polycarbonate with a fancy name such as Diamontina or I-Titaniumonate :P

17. cornerofthemoon posted on 21 Mar 2013, 14:22 2 4

I'm sorry but the S4 is one boring a55 design.

19. MartianMe posted on 21 Mar 2013, 14:58 2
