Texting and driving in New York will now cost you 5 points, up from 3

0. phoneArena 31 May 2013, 19:01 posted on

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was happy to announce on Friday that those caught driving and texting would receive a penalty of five points on their driving record, up from the current three points; that would make LOLing with your BFF potentially more costly to your bank account than getting caught driving 20 miles over the posted speed limit...

yes please UTAH do this! i see grown people driving stupid speeding, not signalling, and running red lights all the time while on their phone! this is ridiculous and should be made into a very severe penatly such as having your license revoked. people need to use common sense while driving and pay attention.

Fact: Texting and driving is actually worse than drunk driving.

Also have to consider that they are still drinking and driving but now also texting. I hope all the states follow this example or make it more severe too.

This is too lenient. I feel anyone who does anything on a phone that poses a distraction and a danger to motorists should be given a more severe punishment.

Whatever makes ppl stop...I'm all for it.

And I feel states, cities shouldnt have to disclose where speeding cameras are. All that does is force ppl to slow down in certain spots...then they speed right back up again.

I agree. Purposely hiding them I can understand how it'd irk a lot of people, but at least with the cameras I see around my area, they also usually have a huge sign saying "WATCH OUT OMG CAMERA" As long as they're there, it'll only serve as a digital speedbump.

This is why you make phones like the Note's, Mega's, Togari's, and Firefly V65's. Its so much harder to next on phablets.

Any use of a phone is a distraction and i would guess using a GPS feature would be considered the same penalty.
