Tell Microsoft about your worst case of malware-related Droid Rage and you might get a "get-well" present

The marketing crew at Redmond might have been working one of those overnighters with Chinese takeout cartons strewn about and open pizza cartons translucent with grease; perhaps this promotion came from a night of brainstorming at a session like that...

Hahahaha. Quit pointing out other's mistake. First solve yours. Wp8 is a good os. Probably it will get better than android in near future. But microsoft must fix bugs.

Why not ask how to improve their own product instead of trying to put down the big dog? Microsoft's "we're as good as Google" ads are kind of annoying. Make a product people want instead of making people not want the competition.

yes, Microsoft shouldnt be so negativistic....they have to realize that Android is the only mobile product that earns him money :))

I'd rather discuss all the malware that runs rampant through their desktop OS's.
7. mas11 posted on 05 Dec 2012, 02:21 6
Thank you, Android has far less malware. Far less than most people think.

The worst thing that ever happened to me was Airpush ads by some apps. Malwares? None so far, not sure if Lookout is working well or it's just not detecting any. As long as you're clever on choosing apps in Play Store, this shouldn't be a problem.
6. redmd posted on 05 Dec 2012, 02:17 6
I've used android for 2 years now. no malwares so far.

Been using android for the past two years straight without any Anti-Virus programs... Never seen one... Plugging the phone it into a system and all the crap starts to get into the phone...

They should ask for Windows PC horror stories, I'm sure they'll get a much better response...

I've always wondered why were they enemies with Apple? Based on what microsoft is doing, i imagined they'd be best friends.
11. amozhi posted on 05 Dec 2012, 02:34 1
Does it shows microsoft lost the ground in mobile OS? By asking such experiences makes android much stronger than WP8.
Android is clean OS. Don't give permission to install malware. I mean do not install rogue apps.
12. Saintmarino posted on 05 Dec 2012, 02:42 3
Instead of trying to drag down the top dog, MS should think of improving their own and make it more competitive. The platform has surely evolved a lot with WP8, but it still has a long way to go.
I'd rather advise them to start a trend asking users what features THEY want in the next version of WP, rather than attacking Android which is nothing but time pass IMO; in a place dominated by trolls called internet, who is going to check the authenticity of the claims made anyway?
Its been almost three years I've been using android (HTC desire, Galaxy S3, now own galaxy note 2), never came across any malware. Just in case you are concerned, keep a check on the system permissions any new app asks for before installing it, and you should be fine.

No malwares on any android phones that i came into contact with...
Microsoft's OS on the other hand is full of bugs and susceptible to malware.
Microsoft: Hi kettle. I'm pot. Now, i'll try to make myself look shinier by getting everyone to throw you away by painting you black

No such thing as malware on an Android - story is drummed up by the media and its competitors....
Ever had a Windows PC? Funny that MS talks about malware.....

indeed! lol and im not sure if this is just the way people do business with a means to "promote" themselves or if its just a flat out desperation call!
Either way some will fall for this but the ground in which Google stands is more than enough to stay secure through these petty and feeble minded attacks...
24. basicfull posted on 05 Dec 2012, 08:12 0
Has anyone thought it's more than just a ploy to play on google? Think bigger people.
Finding the weakness of the competitor and making sure you're product does not do the same is a great tactic. It is played by everyone, including google!

Microsoft please ask the 'horror stories about Windows vista'............ I hope hearing those stories you will be giving lots of free gifts this Christmas........
27. protozeloz posted on 05 Dec 2012, 09:23 0
I might as well do, money or a phone is worth faking up a story
29. Veigald posted on 05 Dec 2012, 09:33 0
It's not all about malware, is it? In my experience with Android, that has never been an issue. Force closing, lag and random reboots, however...
31. Aeires (unregistered) posted on 05 Dec 2012, 10:53 1
I'm sure a lot of people will invent stories just to get a new, free phone. Disgusting tactic by MS to highlight something that rarely, if ever, happens on Android, but happens on Windows regularly.
32. jroc74 posted on 05 Dec 2012, 18:42 0
I will say this, I have been infected waaaay less with no security on Android vs no security on a Windows desktop OS.
I have yet to install any security on my Android phones, starting with the Droid 1 in Mar 2010.
I wouldnt dare go no security on a desktop PC.

Yes. I once witnessed a device infested with hundreds of bits of malware. Trojan horses, spyware, the whole deal.
Oh wait. That was a Windows PC.
Thanks, Microsoft. I always love a bit of irony, and you never fail to deliver.
Bottom line: Don't worry about the mythical Android malware "epidemic," when we've had a substantially more powerful PC malware issue for many years.
