Teens: Apple iPhone out, Samsung Galaxy S III and Microsoft Surface in
0. phoneArena posted on 13 Jan 2013, 00:16
It looks like Apple could be losing support of the teens as they have started to turn away from the Apple iPhone and have started to favor the Samsung Galaxy S III and Microsoft Surface Tabletsa; according to a survey done by Bus Marketing, Apple might have been too successful for its own good as teens say the ubiquitious nature of the iPhone is pushing counterculture supporting teens away from Apple's iconic smartphone and is pushing them toward the Samsung Galaxy S III...

Me? I want 27inch retina display 'the new iMac'!!! :D

Ha! Retina is out of date in the new era of 4K (aka "Ultra HD"). Mac doesn't even offer touchscreens, and probably won't until next year. Typical apple, months and years behind everyone else.

I don't think we will see many 4k monitors/laptops for awhile.

I guess thats the problem. Teens are seeing the Iphone as too popular. Meaning everyone has an iphone. Thats not cool. Why would I have the same phone everybody has. Teens will seej something different in order to stand out. Iphone isnt a bad phone but isnt worthy. Same old

No thunderbolt I can see where he's coming from. I dirve county transit here n vegas, and as a techie I'm constantly looking to see what devices people r carrying. I honestly see more teens with iPhones, and next r galaxies...now here's the kicker, when I ask them how they like their iPhone most say its ok, but I want the s3, or the big one (the note).
149. rcrider4 posted on 13 Jan 2013, 21:41 0 0
No actually...over half of the teens I know own iPhones. That is just a simple fact in our lives. The fact that you don't like Apple doesn't mean you need to downvote someone simply because he is stating what he sees around him. He probably hangs around different people than you, and so they have different phones. To say that he is blind because of that is just rude. Keep your super biased comments and rates to yourself and just look at things objectively for a change, or are you too obsessed with Google to be able to do that?

44. KingKurogiii posted on 13 Jan 2013, 02:43 0 1
well for this year and probably through next year too 4K Televisions are surely going to be ridiculously expensive whenever we even get them in the consumer marketplace and look at how expensive the Retina Macbook is now and it's display is of course within Retina territory meaning it's as sharp as your eyes can possibly perceive it. the common consumer wouldn't bother even IF they were anywhere near having it for us in something like a Macbook. it would just be too expensive, impractical and too power consuming. i wouldn't look for this on a Macbook next year let alone this year.
50. darac posted on 13 Jan 2013, 03:00 2 11
What's the ppi of those 4K displays?
When will they be out?
How much will they cost?
iMac is the only desktop monitor with retina you can buy, hater
59. tedkord posted on 13 Jan 2013, 03:45 16 2
Retina is a meaningless term. Apple called the iPad 2 retina. Guess that makes the Nexus 10 ultra super mega retina.
91. JohnnyBravo posted on 13 Jan 2013, 10:36 1 0
Agreed. Its a marketing thing, which Apple does so well. They advertise the hell out of basic features that Android and other OSs have had for months and the average consumer things Apple came up with it first. Example: panorama shots. There a few devices that have better than "retina" display but it is the fault of the company pushing them to not market them heavily or find a catch term or phrase like Apple does. Like them or hate them they do market well...
114. KingKurogiii posted on 13 Jan 2013, 12:43 0 0
i don't recall Apple ever calling the display of the iPad 2 Retina. Retina is a display philosophy by them and a damn good one too. i don't see Apple going back on it. o:
145. tedkord posted on 13 Jan 2013, 20:30 0 0
Yeah, I meant the new iPad, whatever its called. Its only like 264ppi, but they call it retina. When retina was first introduced by Apple, it meant over 300ppi, the theoretical limit of human eyes.
Retina Display means nothing, because Apple will slap it on anything as a sales gimmick.
150. KingKurogiii posted on 13 Jan 2013, 22:21 0 0
300 ppi is for smartphones which people typically hold closer to their face. tablets are held away from a further distance than smartphones so the 264ppi would be around Retina territory for a tablet.

Im not sure why everyone on this site finds it necessary to hate on Apples products, specifically the iPhone. While I have never owned an iPhone or any of Apples other current devices, I am knowledgeable and not over bias enough to acknowledge that they make solid devices around the board. while some of their technologies are overhyped, overpriced, and not up to times it would be ignorant to conclude that their iPhone or mac line are incompetant products, and if looked at by a neutral eye are actually quite competitive in many aspects. You can hate the company (for many reasons), but there are few reasons to hate the product. ***I would buy a GS3 over the iPhone any day (largely due to ios UI being completely outdated and jelly bean being extremely intuitive), but it's still a good device in many ways and to millions, worth the price tag (let apple price how they want as long as MC=MR=P)
54. wendygarett posted on 13 Jan 2013, 03:13 0 17
Thank you so much for the consideration, but I personally think it's alright for them to hate when there are someone to love Apple, it's called balanced :)
besides, I'm get used to it anyway :)
56. MrJerry posted on 13 Jan 2013, 03:29 6 1
I don't think they are all so-called "haters".
Including me, i personally used to love Apple when they were real innovative
Now i want Apple to listen people like me and change at least a little bit for a good to all
But I dont really see any attempt they are willing to embrace other needs n factors insisting only their old traditional ways and being stubborn
If thats their strateges for thier customers, then fine
But please dont say it is still best as they used to be
Because it is not anymore!
Thats what really disgusts many people in here
60. tedkord posted on 13 Jan 2013, 03:51 15 0
I don't hate Apple products. I hate Apple's business practices of taking advantage of the severely broken US patent system to be awarded patents on ideas they stole from others, or obvious ideas (like shapes), then using those patents to try and eliminate competition through a non stop barrage of lawsuits seeking bans.
This affects me by stifling the innovation of their competitors, costing them millions in lawyer fees. The net result is I get access to fewer devices, which each do less than they could, at a higher price than they could be.
Sounds like a perfectly reasonable reason top hate Apple.
89. iami67 posted on 13 Jan 2013, 10:22 0 0
For Rise Against I dont think many of us hate the product. Yes we hate the company and what they stand for and how they operate but mostly many people hate how ignorrant iphone users are. Just read some of the post here you can easily tell who is an iphone user by how blind and ridiculous there comments are. That my friend is what the average person hates about iphone. They hate the sh''p

Not saying anyone in this comment thread is, but there's comments like that for windows phone and android as well. People just need to learn to be objective towards each OS :)
148. rcrider4 posted on 13 Jan 2013, 21:36 0 0

Seems accurate to me. Not just teens, people in my age group (21-35) too
7. bucky posted on 13 Jan 2013, 00:34 3 35
Incorrect. Android is much more affordable so teens on a budget can buy. They're also heavily discounted a month after they are released.
14. tedkord posted on 13 Jan 2013, 00:43 30 3
I'll tell you the real reason Android outells iOS by such large margins. Choice and freedom coupled with power. Android's got it, iOS hasn't.
101. monkeytown posted on 13 Jan 2013, 12:06 1 1
slightly wrong my friend. android just has like 283463255 models one can choose from, thats why it outsells ios
106. tedkord posted on 13 Jan 2013, 12:14 2 0
Yeah, thats covered under choice. Nice try, though.
15. frydaexiii posted on 13 Jan 2013, 00:43 11 2
I don't see how that's a bad thing...Not only is Android better in features it's better in price too...
Also, discounted after a month just shows how quickly the Android hardware ecosystem is evolving. Only idiots like Apple would hold back technology for the sake of keeping their current product "in".
32. nwright94 (unregistered) posted on 13 Jan 2013, 01:56 7 1
Doesn't mean they're not good devices. You can get a Verizon Galaxy Nexus for cheap now, even the razr M, they're great devices.
88. Whateverman posted on 13 Jan 2013, 10:20 0 1
Right...the Galaxy Note 2 is still $300. Where's that heavy discount?
132. Ruckus posted on 13 Jan 2013, 15:38 1 0
Yes the Note 2 is $300 which is why it wont outsell the iPhone or the cheaper GS3.
I will say in the U.S. more teens do have iPhones but im hoping that trend declines some and Windows Phone goes on the rise!
140. Whateverman posted on 13 Jan 2013, 18:13 0 0
I can't see the Note 2 outselling the iPhone either, but not because of the price. It's because of the screen size. Not everyone is willing to go up to a 5.5 inch screen. Especially when the GS3 is virtually the same phone in a smaller, more manageable size. For me...the Note 2 is perfect! So I don't mind paying the 300 bucks, and I'm sure many others don't either.
146. Ruckus posted on 13 Jan 2013, 20:49 0 0
Ha! Remember the Juke?? Was it even 1/2 inch screen? Lol
46. thunderbolt posted on 13 Jan 2013, 02:54 12 1
Teens in India are Android fan by and large. It's not question of cheap or affordable, it's just that apple is seen as a jailed device with a huge price and no more. They just don't listen to any of marketing stunts of Apple.
55. bon24x7 posted on 13 Jan 2013, 03:27 2 6
there aren't any such marketing stunts by apple here in india..its just the price that made android popular..if iphones were half their current price then the story would've been different..about 90-95% of android users that i know or have met doesn't even know what android is about, they just bought one cos of the price or cause their friends has one..

If the biggest carriers advertise on National TV what more advertising you want? Advertising also is linked to sales. If sales doesn't happen after initial ads the ads drop out completely. Airtel was advertising IP5 but now those ads have vanished because it did not make an impact on sales.
