How can there be 44.9% share of iOS powered tablets when Apple's share in the pie is only 29.7%? Somebody please enlighten me.

44.9% of tablets shipped in Q4 were iOS tablets, but iOS had 29.7% of the tablet market in Q4. Global shipments are different from global market shares. Global shipments are just how many were produced and sent to retailers around the world, market share is based on how many of those tablets shipped were actually sold.
Out of the estimated 78.45 million tablets that were shipped, 44.9% of them were iPads, but only 29.7% of the 78.45 million were iPads that had actually been sold. Or, that's what I think it is. I could be wrong.
