T-Mobile to set internet afire with 21Mbps HSPA+ in mid 2010
0. phoneArena posted on 12 Nov 2009, 23:34
So what if T-Mobile was the last of the big 4 U.S. carriers to deploy 3G? By the middle of next year, certain cities will benefit from the zippy 21Mbps...

I guess probably about the same time Verizon had LTE, wanna bet Verizon launches 4G with a bigger coverage area than tmobile has 3g

Does anyone know what is the speed of 4G LTE is because T-Mobile is testing it 3G fastest speed is 21Mbps if it is only half the speed of LTE T-Mobile is wasting their money.

Not really. On a phone or a netbook, the speed only makes but so much difference. Hell, even cable internet's latest speeds are overkill.

theoretically up to 300mbps, in its current version

That is pretty sweet for a 3g network, 21Mbps, good use for current infrastructure. The Verizon LTE network supposedly can reach 150Mbps, but from what I have heard it probably will only work at 8-12 Mbps during rollout.

Has anybody local to Philly actually found a place where the higher speeds are active? I know that in the Northeast the speeds are actually slower than where I live, in Marlton, which makes no sense. I'm assuming they're talking about somewhere in Center City?

I guess Philly is in the northeast, even though PA is more mid-western...

The way i see it and what i have heard is that there will be no difference in the speed of mobile web-browsers that have 21mbs or 100mbs. The only time you can tell a difference is with the air cards or data usb for laptops or computers. So The internet with verizon lte and tmobiles hsdpa+ 21mbs wont be any different.

the theoretical limit of LTE is 150-200, real world tests have it steady around 100mb/s. I havent heard anything about a gimped LTE, nor do i believe that to be true. VZW would not do a national rollout of such magnitude like they have plans to do, if they were going to gimp it. No, it will most likely be full speed and high premium priced for that. And I will buy me a nice 4g aircard as soon as its availible (if its not a 5g cap that is!) verizon is hoping for a national "all at one time" roll out of 4g basically. tmo is doing the traditional slower rollout of 21mb/s but at their current prices is it worth paying tripple or more on a cell phone?
