T-Mobile named Walmart's 2011 "Supplier of the Year", still has trouble convincing carriers to end subsidies

0. phoneArena 14 Mar 2012, 10:01 posted on

Walmart's phones and plans shopping service is already making inroads, eating Amazon Wireless' bread-and-butter discount model, and apparently T-Mobile was able to come up with the best deals to suit value-for-money shoppers last year...

I'm a big fan of ending cellphone subsidies. Folks are spoiled when it comes to sell phones. We buy TVs, computers, and even tablets every few years and have no problem paying big bucks for those. Phones will be no different.

But the only way I'd really go for a unsubsidized phone is if I can take it to more than one carrier. I wouldn't mind dropping $500 or more on a phone if I could take it to whatever carrier I wanted. Plus, ending subsidies would mean a carrier had to focus on having the best service instead of the best phones.

I hate you Walmart... If you are a consumer and you purchase there then go there for any service issues

I'm a teenager, I cannot afford phones without the subsidies. 250$ is the most I have spent on a phone after taxes, 500-600$ is out of the question.

Get a job and save your money? That's what I had to do when I was a teenager and I'm still in my 20's.

there are plenty of $250 unlocked android and wp7 headsets out there right now. HTC Evo 3d gsm is $350. just save a little.

I would refuse to pay full price for a phone unless plans drop in price. Why not have a plan now you can sign up for when your phone is not subsidized?

wal-mart equal's fraud city usa. easiest place to take five high end phones and get them canceled and not return them. I wonder if they factored in all deactivations and cancelations due to FRAUD!!!!! haha
