T-Mobile memo hints to their support for the Google Phone while an event is scheduled for January 5
With the expected arrival of the Google Phone aka Nexus One closing in on a target release date of January 5, T-Mobile has spilled the beans on their plan for the expected launch. Through an internal system at T-Mobile, there is a vague message about an Android handset coming in the early weeks of January and their planned support for it. It’s mostly vague and not too detailed about T-Mobile’s part – they won’t offer any support unless it’s related to billing, coverage, features, and rate plans. So that means it’ll fall on both Google and HTC to offer troubleshooting and exchanges on the handset. Sources from TmoNews have reported and confirming the January 5th date with ordering commencing at 9:00 AM through Google only.

In addition, Google will be holding a special Android press event in Mountain View – most likely the Google Phone will makes it grand introduction at the event.  Specific pricing information about it is still in the dark and will probably surface relatively soon.

Too bad it's not coming in AT&T 3G flavor. I think this is something I'd seriously consider getting. Oh well, I guess I'm just waiting until the release of the Xperia X10!

this was suppose to be the htc passion phone that was posted up on october before t-mobile. They are already getting the 4.3 snap dragon phone from htc.

Those colorful streaks at the top of the image on the right are certainly reminiscent of the startup screen from images and videos posted of the Nexus One...

why is this called the google phone? HTC makes the hardware, not google. it just has android os !! what makes this a "google phone"?!?!?!? the hero, g1, mytouch, etc. all have android from google. there is no reason for the HTC nexus one to be called "the google phone"!!! please correct me if im wrong!

I think the reason why is because Google played a much larger roll in the development of this particular device. It's not offically the "google phone" and it may be the eluded Nexus One name that it gets when sold...
