T-Mobile files lawsuit against cellphone records brokers

T-Mobile, the number four US mobile operator, has filed a lawsuit against two companies - Data Find Solutions and 1st Source Information Specialists – for illegal sales of their subscribers' cellphone records. The suit, which was filed in the King County, Washington Superior Court, seeks an injunction to prevent these two companies as well as other related firms and individuals from obtaining and selling phone records under false pretences. T-mobile's legal action comes at the time of media revelations that cellphone calling records can be obtained relatively easy, raising the question of privacy invasion. Cingular Wireless has already been granted a Temporary Restraining Order against these same two companies. As phonearena.com informed last week a bill that would make obtaining phone records, using fraudulent means illegal, was introduced in the U.S. senate.
