T-Mobile ad attacks AT&T for having slow pipes
0. phoneArena 07 May 2013, 12:57 posted on
T-Mobile's latest commercial might not mention AT&T by name, but considering that the carrier has recently chosen to go head to head with AT&T in previous ads featuring Frankenstein and a man encased in ice, it seems apparent that it is the nation's second largest carrier that T-Mobile is depicting as having a slow moving, congested network...

T-Mobile has horrible coverage and lacks LTE. Maybe at&t should put them out of their misery.
8. Note2waitingonNote3 (banned) (Posts: 87; Member since: 19 Mar 2013)
At&t is useless with it's crappy data plans and poor ability to update handsets. They are just as useless as Verizon. Tmobile rules period.
36. darkkjedii (Posts: 9330; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
AT&T was recently recognized for updating devices the fastest, and how are they useless when there the #2 largest carrier. They also have home service, and world service. Yeah they're pretty useless dude.
37. HDShatter (Posts: 1014; Member since: 17 Jan 2013)
The "fastest" network and a 5GB max usage. I would rather have 3g and unlimited then 5gb 4g.
38. darkkjedii (Posts: 9330; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
Ok that's your choice, I'm not a data hog so the "6" I get lasts me. I have wifi at home, and at work I get only enough time to chime in on Pa...which uses very little data.
46. papss (Posts: 3452; Member since: 03 Sep 2012)
agreed... no thank you I'll pay for WAY better service that I don't roam when out of my small dot service area... TMob is a joke
56. PapaSmurf (Posts: 6657; Member since: 14 May 2012)
T-Mobile is not a joke. Just because you've had bad experiences with them doesn't mean everyone has. Here in Chicago, I at least get 15mbps and on average 22-24mbps. I've seen T-Mobile's LTE speeds and they're by far the fastest. Now the argument of it being "new" is valid, but statement still stands.
And to also note, there's areas in Chicago where the speeds are at 1-4mbps with AT&T, which is nothing to brag about.
58. papss (Posts: 3452; Member since: 03 Sep 2012)
I stand by my statement...overall service is bad, maybe not in some areas but bad as a whole
60. PapaSmurf (Posts: 6657; Member since: 14 May 2012)
In your opinion. But I've traveled to a great amount of locations and can safely say T-Mobile is one hell of a phone company.
65. bigdawg23 (Posts: 307; Member since: 25 May 2011)
You must not travel very far. I travel all over the Midwest and T-Mobile coverage is horrible outside of major cities. I have co-workers that say once they leave big cities there phones roll to Edge or every no service. I have AT&T and they continue to improve their network in the Midwest. They continue to remove Edge markets. I also have a Verizon MiFi spot which many times is not any better coverage than AT&T. I had T-Mobile which was good in Minnesota but slow that coverage has gone to garbage. They had a tower go down by house and refused to fix it. I went from 3G to No Service over night.
70. lsutigers (Posts: 670; Member since: 08 Mar 2009)
I agree. I this were true I wouldn't mind but T-Mobile is consistently the slowest network now that Sprint has LTE in many markets and expanding rapidly. Not to mention lack of coverage which leaves you on EDGE in many areas just outside of city limits.

LMAO who the f*ck are they trying to fool? Wish they HAD named AT&T so they get sued for slander and false advertising, because that is simply not true. TMO is, always has been, and always will be a f*cking JOKE.
5. disneydad (Posts: 114; Member since: 26 Mar 2012)
Bring it down a notch junior..... Is ATT giving you free service or providing free inrastructure to developing countries? No need to get too excited over what companies put in their advertising.
15. Droiddoes (unregistered)
Actually yes, smartass, AT&T DOES give me free unlimited everything with full LTE no throttling. And their speeds absolutely DOMINATE my old TMO 4G phone.
AT&T gives the most value for your dollar with rollover minutes and free m2m calling on ANY network. No one else does that. Additionally, AT&T is almost always the first to get new devices such as the GS3 they got earlier than LOLSprint, TMO or VZN.
19. godinruin (Posts: 9; Member since: 23 Aug 2012)
LOL no we don't. You sound like a store rep...and we don't even give our store reps free anything. And we still throttle and 3GB and 5GB depending on if you have a 3G or 4G device. Let's be honest, every carrier is great depending on who you are and where you are. If you like to save money and don't move around a bunch, get Cricket. If you like LTE and don't want to be throttled on 4G Unlimited plans, get Verizon, if you want the newest phone sooner, go with AT&T.
22. Droiddoes (unregistered)
Fascinating. Please, tell me more about the plan I've had for almost two years now since you obviously know more about it than I do. Which is really strange since I have yet to recieve a bill, and every time I do a speed test I'm consistently on 4g LTE speeds. And I've dl'd 30 GB in a month a few times.
26. JEverettnow (Posts: 139; Member since: 11 Mar 2013)
AT&T absolutely does not give free anything even to it's employees. 2 years isn't long enough to have a grandfathered data plan. I call troll.
30. Droiddoes (unregistered)
That's nice. Couple things:
1) Never said I work directly for AT&T
2) That's awful nice of them tonot shut mine off after not paying my bill (which I don't have) for over 1.5 years
3) Lrn2Provisional account
27. tedkord (Posts: 3946; Member since: 17 Jun 2009)
You (or someone else) don't pay for your plan?
25. drazyw (unregistered)
They stoped selling the unlimited plans in 2010 so no one can get that anymore if they are looking for new service.
31. Droiddoes (unregistered)
Cool. I get unlimited everything and have for the last year and a half, and will continue to as long as I stay with my company.
If nothing else, what would I possibly have to gain by lying about that?
35. Aeires (unregistered)
Sounds like a high end business account, not your average user account like the rest of us have. Big difference.
43. Droiddoes (unregistered)
It is. Point is, people saying I'm lying and there is no way I have an unl everything acct for $0 a month, which is false.
55. Aeires (unregistered)
Your arguments are misleading. If a corporation is paying for your plan, it shouldn't be compared to what the average Joe gets. I don't doubt your plan or that you've got it great, just don't think it should be compared to what T-Mobile is offering.
Simple truth is we don't have it sweet like you do and what ATT offers isn't better than what T-Mobile has. Coverage is locational, but plans aren't. I pay a great price for my unlimited, unthrottled T-Mobile plan and the coverage in my area is good. ATT couldn't match what I get, simple as that.
73. disneydad (Posts: 114; Member since: 26 Mar 2012)
I agree Aeires. I also find that people who argue in the manner od Droiddoes in his post are trying to show how cool they are with what they have when they are completely reliant on someone else.
There's no reason to get all up in arms about cell carrier advertising or phone manufacturers. Apple, et al. love to paint their products as the best in noticeably skewed ways.
57. PapaSmurf (Posts: 6657; Member since: 14 May 2012)
T-Mobile has unlimited calling period, landline, m2m, you name it. And again, T-Mobile definitely isn't as bad as you're claiming. It works perfectly in Chicago, even better than Verizon is certain parts of the city.
And oh please. AT&T gets phones a day before T-Mobile does. Big whoop.
62. ray77 (Posts: 121; Member since: 17 Nov 2012)
ur correct PapaSmurf T Mobile work fine in new york and even in Puerto Rico ^-^
63. PapaSmurf (Posts: 6657; Member since: 14 May 2012)
T-Mobile dominates New York lol. And in Puerto Rico, it's sketchy. AT&T is the best over there though. Hopefully they beef up their network and expand coverage because being in the mountains with 1-2 bars isn't the best. :(
7. drazyw (unregistered)
Oh i dunno. Having both AT&T and Tmobile at the moment, All over the Norhern VA area, testing data speeds, Tmobile is killing AT&T in performance. At my house, both get excellent signal on their HSPA+ (4g) frequencies and AT&T on the best day can get 4Mb/s down where Tmo is up at 13Mb/s. I've never seen Tmo drop below 6Mb/s where the AT&T has dropped under 1Mb/s during peak times. This holds true everywhere I go. And yes, I do carry both phones around. Tmo doesn't have near the coverage as AT&T once you get west of Manassass VA though. But as far as I can see, Tmo blows the doors off AT&T given equal coverage. Too many users per cell and overloaded backhauls. Tmo would be the same if they had the same number of users. They just reap the benefits of being smaller.
14. mrfamous1 (Posts: 26; Member since: 25 Apr 2012)
At&T has more towers than any other company which equals more ppl and better service everywhere!!! At&t have LTE and Tmobile is still running HSPA+(3G and a half) that is not true 4G. So this commercial is false!!! TMobile can't compete so they ATTACK the ppl that is doing good!
21. drazyw (unregistered)
Sorry, I'm looking at my phone right now. I have LTE on Tmobile and LTE on AT&T. (HTC one vs Nokia 920) True 4g. AT&T currently speedtesting at 15Mb/s down and Tmo at 23Mb/s down. Thats the LTE you say they don't have.
Anyway, more towers does not = more bandwidth. Which is what the comercial is tageting here. If their backhaul can't handle the number of users, you will see a reduciton in your speeds. I love AT&T for their coverage, I love Tmobile for their speed. Oh, and I have no cap on my data on my Tmo account. No throttling either. 5GB/month on my AT&T. Tmo is 30 bucks cheaper as well.
51. Hemlocke (unregistered)
I'm in a Top 125 market, and I get 3-9 Mbps on AT&T (No LTE), versus 20+ on T-Mo HSPA+. If I didn't have so many people on my account, I would be on T-Mo in a minute. Who knows when AT&T will get LTE in my town. They are too busy deploying to bustling metropolises like Corsicana, Texas and Warrensburg, Missouri.
29. gmracer1 (Posts: 646; Member since: 28 Dec 2012)
CDMA towers are far more abundant in the US, than GSM towers. Noob.
As for LTE, AT&T is still playing catch-up with VZW.
Go troll somwhere else.
16. Droiddoes (unregistered)
We'll see if your statement is true once TMO actually gets
2) LTE in more than what, 4 markets? Once they have as many people on their LTE network as AT&T we'll see whio is better.
SPOILER: it will be AT&T
45. gmracer1 (Posts: 646; Member since: 28 Dec 2012)
Verizon's LTE will be done, this year. Good sir, can you please tell me when AT&T will be done? :)
48. Droiddoes (unregistered)
I could, but since this is a TMO vs AT&T debate it is irrelevant. Do try to keep up.
66. gmracer1 (Posts: 646; Member since: 28 Dec 2012)
"but since this is a TMO vs AT&T debate it is irrelevant."
Do try to use proper punctuation.
59. PapaSmurf (Posts: 6657; Member since: 14 May 2012)
T-Mo is late on bringing LTE yes, but covering 225 pops by the end of the year? That's impressive. And with LTE Advanced coming soon, T-Mobile will be blowing AT&T out of the water. LTE + 42mbps as back haul is a force to be reckoned with.
Funny thing is, when Verizon was bragging about their LTE network and AT&T just started, did you say the same thing as you did now back then? As time passes by, networks do get slower. But T-Mo to spend money on towers for more bandwidth is a positive side.
Point across: The money you save with T-Mobile when comparing their service is unmatched. Unlimited everything is $70, you can't go wrong with that.

You really like bullet points Droiddoes.
Unfortunately for you, it does not make you appear more intelligent.
18. JunitoNH (Posts: 760; Member since: 15 Feb 2012)
Glad to hear someone gets coverage inside their house; as for me, have to walk outside of the structure, just to get 2g service. By the way, don't live in the sticks, every carrier is represented in my area.
42. sniper1087 (Posts: 311; Member since: 31 Dec 2011)
ok you are having issues with AT&T then, well let me tell you I was having the same problems a month ago, I was getting really low speeds on LTE but I called to AT&T and complaint for like 2 weeks and they fixed it and now I am getting faster speeds than T-mobile and yes I had both.
50. Andrew10301 (Posts: 12; Member since: 30 Aug 2012)
That's interesting because on my one x+ in northern Virginia I consistently get 25 down on lte. But being as I live in Manassas I mostly have hspa+ where I don't get more than 8 and less than two mbps
11. Note2waitingonNote3 (banned) (Posts: 87; Member since: 19 Mar 2013)
You sound like the typical SHILL of a At&t customer. They definitely got you twisted or on meds. Keep your crappy useless data plans and monthly overpriced bills and piss poor updates. At@t sucks rotten eggs.

I dont understand why Tmobile is ripping AT&T for something that they never had: coverage. Why dont Tmobile focus on their bottom dolar instead of using their dollars ripping a compant company thats better than them when it comes to phones, coverage, and overall quality
6. disneydad (Posts: 114; Member since: 26 Mar 2012)
Maybe you should worry less about what TMO's focus should be and more on using proper grammar.
9. Ruckus (Posts: 276; Member since: 20 Oct 2011)
Maybe you should stop being a little girl Disneydad. You defend T-Mobile like its one of your kids. Jeradiah3 is simply pointing out the facts.
28. Jeradiah3 (Posts: 933; Member since: 11 Feb 2010)
Thank you Ruckus!! Obviously "Disneydad" is living in a fantasy if he thinks that T-Mobile is actually making a splash in the mobile technology business
75. disneydad (Posts: 114; Member since: 26 Mar 2012)
LOL. Where did you get that insult.....the toilet store?
10. Whateverman (Posts: 3162; Member since: 17 May 2009)
T-Mobile works great in the places I need it, and their HSPA+ really is just as fast as other company's LTE speeds. VZW may have the slightly faster speeds, but T-Mobile is no slouch.
12. Bluesky02 (Posts: 1439; Member since: 05 Dec 2011)
Seriously T-Mobile, calling the iPhone 5 a revolutionary phone? How about these phones:
- HTC One
- Nokia Lumia 920
- Samsung Galaxy 4
- Samsung Galaxy Note 2
- Sony Xperia Z
These are true revolutionary phones.
