T-Mobile's Sidekick 4G is the successor to the iconic Sidekick, but you already know that. What you might not know, though, is the pricing announced at $99 after a $50 mail-in rebate on a two-year unlimited data contract...

"...extensive skinning on top of Android 2.2 Froyo by LG and T-Mobile." I think you meant Samsung.
I'm not a fan of Samsung. Just their name being relevant to the software is enough for me to pass. If your planning on buying this phone, get used to 2.2 or learn how to root and apply a custom rom because you probably wont be seeing many updates.

while that may or may not be true, if you buy a phone expecting an update, then ur an idiot. u buy a phone for the way it is out of the box, not for what updates might come down the road. thats just called icing on the cake.

Of course people buy a phone for what it is out of the box, but most phones don't come with perfect software and require updates to fix certain bugs (especially phones with custom overlays like touch wiz). Thats where Samsung fails to do their job. That and the fact that gingerbread is already out which makes the phone out of date at its arrival. Pardon my idiocy for wanting to be sure my phone is upgradable and well maintained with reliable software fixes. We all can't be as clueless as you are...

I cant wait to see this interface ported out to the other devices. I can hear a Sidekick Custom Rom coming already.

Most people feel that way after each update. There doesn't necessarily need to be a problem with the software but simple additions to the software is enough for someone to want the upgrade. I thought eclair was really good at its arrival and felt the same way about froyo and now I'm hooked on gingerbread and still looking forward... That's the beauty of android. It always gets better. Why would anyone want to be excluded from that?

I already have a contract with 3 plans on it. Will I be able to pay the $99.99 price. And if not can I end a plan and get a new one with my same # and get the phone for the $99.99 price?
