The Google Nexus 5 has been on back order through Google Play since a few hours after it launched two weeks ago, and just a few days ago the 16GB black Nexus 5 completely sold out on the Play Store. But, T-Mobile has come to help out those who may want to get their hands on Google's new flagship smartphone. The Nexus 5 is now officially on sale from the carrier...

Fair enough. It's not $350 like in the Play Store, but not $650 like rival devices either. Can you imagine how many would love to buy the Nexus 5 for $450 outside of Play Store Devices regions? Millions, maybe tens of those.

It's still cheaper because on CL, it's going for over $600 which is a rip off.

most of the nexus 5's on craigslist in Massachusetts range from $400 to $450. Not bad considering that's close to how much they paid originally including tax lol

i think nexus phone prices should be the same price as the google play on all carriers

Well Google is its on middle man. All carriers have to pay techs, sales reps, andbrick and mortar cost. The mark up of having to buy a crap load and hope for a sales then pay a sales rep, and light bills is the rerason.
If it means that much to save money get it from the Play store like I did. 449 got the white 32gb N5 shipped to my door.
It goes against my principle to pay more for less, when I can get more for the same price. Anyone that complains is just foolish, and lazy in my Opinion!
Most people are paying more for it because pf contract fees! Off contract is the best way to buy this, and the Play store is the best place to get it!

Seems a pretty hefty finance charge to me. For comparison, their S4 is $628 - comparable to the full retail price.

This is just a full retail cost markup thats extreme. The cost to make this is not more than $200.00....o.k. maybe $225.00. $400.00 profit is easier for you to swollow than $100.00 huh!rofl

If you do the one Jump program, and you trade in your phone in a year, then it's only $41 + (12 x $17) = $245. Not bad since in a year, you might be able to sell it used for the same price give or take.

To pay half the cost of a device or dare I say 70% based on the Google play store cost and give it up is not a bargain. I would love to sell you something at inflated cost and then after you pay 70% get it back from you and sale you something else!
I bought mine out right because I can sell it if I choose to and upgrade rather than letting them do it. Also I can do what I choose with it as well as keep it or use it as a back up!

That's assuming you want to keep the phone. But there are some people that want to upgrade yearly and don't want the hassle of selling the phone. Sure you can get more selling the phone yourself, but some people don't either have the time or convenience of selling their phone. And with anything, selling your phone to strangers also come with inherent risks, whether you sell it on eBay, Craigslist, etc., such as getting scammed. As an eBay seller myself, I got scammed once when I sold something to buyer, even showed it was delivered to their address by USPS and they filed a claim on Paypal and lost out on both the money ($200) and the item I sold. At least selling it back to T-Mo it is practically safe and guaranteed.
It's basically the buy a car vs lease a car argument. Sure leasing does cost more, but it is highly convenient for some people because of the fewer hassles involved, particularly if you like having new cars all the time.

True it's like a lease, and for those with the intention of doing that...fine. However; to lease it and give it back and to take someting else is a huge waste of Money in "my" opinion.
I leased my Q45 got a tax brreak on the lease, gas, ad oil changes ect. That's one of the biggest reasons leases make sense. If you use this for business this would be a great deal for sure.
For the average consumer it is a waste of discretionary cash period. Your preference is yours to do as you like.
I have sold many phones with out issue or hassle. I only have to leave my home to mail it, and when I do I insure it for full value to offset any issues of loss and pass that insurance sale off to the buyer's price. Taking a picture and then posting to Ebay or Craigs list takes less than 10 minutes of time
This plan isn't a truely terrible plan, but it still effectively takes your money for profit, which is fine if you care to indulge. No matter how you slice it 449.00 for a 1 up program 16gb Nexus vs a 32GB Nexus from the play store is still highway robbery! If it suits you to pay X aount down and $245.00 for a $350.00 phone and call it a deal and then give the phone up be my guest! the beauty of America is that the choice in this matter is yours.
I bought the 32GB version for $449.00, and I am willing to bet that I will be able to fetch over $250.00 for it towards my next phone since it has no carrier affiliation "world wide". That means that the price for me for a year would be $200.00 for use, and I can use that $250.00 towards my next acquistion!

It's honestly not too bad. You have to realize that there's a mandatory shipping cost when you order it from Google. You can also pay the phone in installments.

Put it on a credit car then..$449 for 32GB vs $449 for 16BG is a no brainer for me.

If you pay with a credit card, then it better be a low interest rate credit card because if you financed it for 24 months on a CC, you may actually pay MORE then the T-Mobile cost. For example, a $400 cost on Google Play (tax + shipping) charged to your Credit Card with a 20% interest rate would add $89 in interest charges over the 2 year pay off on a CC. $400 + $89 = $489.

I was more thinking like installemnts of 200.0 which is 50.00 a week...easily doable, and won't inccur much in fees!
Even so you still own a 32GB version that you can sell for over 250.00 with in a year to anyone world wide!

are u even including tax and shipping for the one sold on Google play store PA? It's cheaper but not $100. approximately $30 cheaper.
