If T-Mobile uses LTE Advanced like they said they were, then T-Mobile will be the carrier to offer the fastest data speeds available in the U.S.

Be sure to zoom closely on the map. All looks good than zoom shows a lot of 2G service. In Minnesota once you venture out of Minneapolis/St Paul coverage goes south quickly. I travel the Midwest and Verizon and AT&T are king. I have AT&T and they do great. All the carriers should be embarrassed with the cover just past La Crosse on I90 down to the Dells. Verizon has a lot of no data coverage, AT&T rolls to 2G.

As for you AT&T phone depends on the phone. In the case of the Note 1, yes with a mod you will replace the radio and see the full T-Mo network frequency.

I have a feeling T-Mobile will continue to offer lower rates and offer the best value as always. ever since they became T-mobile, they've always seem to give more for less 'T-Mobile get more", "value plans", and of course Unlimited Data :) weather is throttling or no throttling.

and it looks like T-mobile is using 1700 for there LTE which works with AT&T so another plus. I hope T-mobile can plug its coverage holes though thats the one reason I've never thought about going to them.

Good to see another tower guy here brother. I am also a tower climber/foreman/line/fiber tester/Closeout guy in the Southwest US area. Here's the low down on the 4 big carriers LTE networks, all of these carriers have/or will have AAV(fiber telco) to their sites for LTE either through a direct line or microwaved in. AT&T is using coax(copper cables either 7/8" or 1 5/8") for their 2G and 3G(UMTS/hspa), and has fiber being ran up the tower for LTE into a RRU, then a short copper "jumper" around 6' to the antenna. Verizon is using all coax for 3G and LTE and even using the same lines for both by splitting them using "diplexers", which isn't the best long term setup, but is how they rolled out LTE so fast using existing lines, but also requiring a PIM test along with the standard sweep test for the coax, the good thing is this is being done to every 3G site so they'll cover their entire 3G footprint with LTE. Sprint is doing a mixture of two things: first scenario, ground mounted RRU's which have fiber ran around 10'-20' from the cabinet to the RRU, then using existing coax up the tower to the antennas, second scenario, fiber being ran up the tower to the RRU's then a copper jumper to the antenna. The good thing is that sprint will have the 3G using the AAV fiber telco as well which should get that around peak speeds. Tmobile will have fiber ran up the tower on every site. The modernization involves a couple scenarios with the two main ones being: 1. 6012 cabinet running the 2G edge, 3G UMTS, 4g single/dual carrier hspa+, and LTE all through the "Hybrid cable"(which has 9 power cables and 18 fiber cables inside) which connects to straight to the MIMO antenna, 2. Running the hybrid cable up the tower and adding a RRU and one antenna per sector for LTE only and keeping the existing 2g/3G the same(like AT&T's setup). Personally I have Verizon service since I have a grandfathered unlimited plan and because of their vast LTE coverage. T-mobile and AT&T will only cover major ares with LTE, and leave small towns and interstate highways with 2g/3G. Verizon and sprint will cover the same major areas and the interstate highways and small towns with LTE. But it still comes down to coverage where your at, and your budget. Hope this helps.
