The T-Mobile G2 has a bug that restores the original ROM every time you try to update it with something custom, and the fine community at XDA-Devs has pooled around $700 (and counting) for the first one who overcomes the issue..

Ya its the same root prevention system thats on the Droid2 and the X. Its only a matter of time before someone cracks this thing. Honestly, i dont understand why Carriers spend so much money on implementing these failsafes... i get the logic but if you dont want to have your users making "accidental modifications" then stop offering open source phones.

This phone is a great device and I'm coming from my beloved Nexus One that being said the G2 could be 5x's faster, better and I guarantee the sales would be helped allot. The only reason I and allot of others bought this phone was the whole stock android thing which I assumed would have a ton of custom ROM's just like my Nexus but this is like the ultimate cock block here this is only a matter of time all they are doing is delaying and annoying the hell out of me now I here that there is a Nexus S or whatever coming it pisses me off even more because I have to drop another couple of dollar's to get that to have the freedom out the box but no use complaining because nobody want's to listen anyway.
