T-Mobile USA's Chief Operations Officer, Jim Alling, has stated that their company would love to carry the iPhone, but not if that means that T-Mobile has to make certain sacrifices...

I guess they will never carry it then. That's just the way it is when dealing with Apple. AT&T probably got the biggest break being the first to exclusively carry the iPhone, then Verizon took the hit and now Sprint. At the end of the day, or a few years, the numbers at all three of those carriers show that the investment IS worth it but it takes time to realize the ROI due to the ridiculously high subsidies.

Agreed, and time isn't on apple's side. They're losing customers, market share, and appeal. T-Mo is smart to avoid them but open the back door for the users that bring their own.

Smart move. To carry the iPhone, the upside would be all for Apple as usual. And as a product that is consistently losing market share to Android and other platforms, that is no longer justifiable. Give it a couple of years, and Apple will be begging Tmobile to carry the iPhone. Well done, Mr. Alling.

You know losing markets share is not the same as sells. I don't own apple but to say the iPhone is not selling is dumb. Each iPhone has sold more then the last. Sprints has gain customer with the iPhone. Keeping hating but that will not change the fact that apple sells phone pretty well.

they have but they've also had struggling network because of the influx without the network strength and im sorry the iphone isn't worth having no service. i'm not that deep in apple sucks but people are ignorant for the fact of going on in one ship to weigh yourself down and sink because it has a cool sounding horn

They may sell more but they don't advise of the breakdown of those sales. It's been rumored by big analyst firms that apple pads its sales numbers by including refurbished devices and warranty trade-ins as "sales", as well as including old models that are still sold as new. Not only that they are getting in new markets to make up the difference. They aren't gaining many actual new customers in markets they've had a foot in prior, and the churn rate is not in their favor

I agree, T-Mobile is probably the best service to use if you get an unlocked phone since they have unlimited data. Now the just need to work on their HSPA+ network, if they do i might switch from Sprint

T-Mobile is better off w/o the iPhone because of what Apple demands which is ludacris. As for their HSPA+ network,98% of that has already been refarmed and improved for LTE in 1st qtr 2013. Keep in mind ,ATT had to fork over a lot of spectrum and 3 billion when their attemped acquistion fell through as well as getting AWS spectrum from VZW. Plus,they have the Samsung Galaxy S III ,which they were the first US carrier to get it,not only is their No #1 seller,but sold over 30,000,000 globally and the GNote II sold over 3,000,000 in over a month. CS has been up,unlike Sprint,and the merger w/Metro PCS will solidify the LTE,UNlimited NWide 4g ,no throttling speeds,no caps or overages and the plans are decent. Heck even the new upcoming Droid DNA will work on this with no pressure.
T-Mobile is making serious moves and I'm glad to bolt from Sprint (it was great but we had some warranty issues as well as CS),but I'm very happy with TMo ....BTW ,and I been known about this for quite some time,you can make calls over WiFi if you got UNL T&T.Get the Value plan and save.

I say they should just use HSPA+ instead of LTE since it's cheaper anyways.

Their HSPA+ is just as fast even a little faster than ,should I dare say,Verizon's. Rootmetric did a analysis a few weeks ago comparing it to ATT and Verizon and it's AMAZING FAST!!! But LTE they have to go that route because that will be the standard..

I say forget the iphone and forget LTE. Just wait for the next big thing and work on improving your service and making it even more affordable.

T-Mo users should hope and pray they never get the iPhone. The iPhone is more expensive for the carrier to offer, and you know who pays for that.
Since getting the iPhone, Verizon has dropped unlimited data, added upgrade fees, eliminated 1 year contracts, raised the subsidized price of top tier phones from $199 to $249-299.

Don't forget the elimination of the New Every Two credit, and 1 year upgrades on certain lines. All of that went away with the arrival of the iPhone.
I truly believe that Verizon would be better off as a company without the iPhone. While we gained subscribers that are iPhone loyalists, the things we gave up for it cost us other subscribers. Not sure what the numbers come out to, but I just think things would be better for the customer without that phone.

Sprint has had to make sacrifices too. Thye discontinued the premier program, including the yearly upgrade for primary lines, waived upgrade fees for premier members, and 25% accessory discounts. They also increased upgrade fees from $18 to $36, increased TEP from $7 to $8, removed discounts applying to additional lines on the plan, changed the price of the plans so that it incldued only the 1st line instead of 1st 2 lines so that the 2nd line wouldn't be discountable anymore, removed the 14 day early upgrades that we could apply, stopped waiving upgrade and activation fees online, put the $10 premium data charge on all smartphones instead of just 4g smartphones, added $15 charge for changing phone numbers, remove billing to account for phone upgrades, and increased the monthly surcharges.
It was a bad move on Sprint's part. When they got the HTC Evo, they had the first phone that got people envious enough on other networks to switch to sprint that wasn't an Iphone. However, sprint didnt really follow up the Evo with a powerful exclusive phone, instead putting their chips in on the Iphone. They also have been complacent on their network upgrades, Network Vision should have happened 2 years ago. Not all was bad though, they did bump up the regular upgrade date from 22mo to 20mo.

You'll be paying 299$ after mail rebate for the 16gig and 399$ after mail in rebate for the 32gig. This price would never change until a new iPhone comes out. Unlike Android, price drops within 3 months.

Whether people here like it or not, the iPhone is always going to be a carrier seller. Sprint, my carrier, has seen gains in post paid because they had the iPhone and unlimited data. It's no surprise that T-Mobile would want to sell the iPhone, because it does bring in customers. You don't have to like Apple or the iPhone, but give credit to where credit is due. The iPhone made smartphones blow up.

i wouldnt say all that but, honestly a lot of people love the iphone, and sprint did sell a lot of iphones. i dont think they made smartphones blow up, but they did make them more popular. blackberry made smartphones blow up
