We've recently seen leaked pictures of the Sony i1 Honami cameraphone; now, we have a look at some screenshots of the device, thanks to a system dump that also reveals some of the specs of the eagerly awaited model. The Honami brings a new UI, new app drawer, new launcher. There is even a new Walkman app with unlimited music streaming available...

Really? I don't see anyone getting skeptical about the quality they'd get from such a (relatively) small sensor. 4K is good, but for the said sensor size, I doubt the quality will be as good. Not to mention the massive size of the files. Also, if the earlier leak was true, I don't see a hump, which can mean a)the sensor is made up of some material which reduces sensor size while giving great shots under which condition, 4K video may turn out decent or b) its just another case of too many megapixels and too high a resolution to record on a phone aka gimmick.

The specs of this beast look impossible to surpass for the moment. My only question is the price; the Z costs already roughly as much as an iPhone and a GS4. This could end up being considerably more expensive, I guess it could end up being the most expensive mainstream smartphone in the world. All this tech and premium materials won't come cheap, that's for sure.

The Price will be the ultimate decider here.

I don't care what the specs are, just give me a competitive price point (which SONY isn't notoriously famous for)

That sounded like an empty critisism. Do you expect all this tech to be given for free? This phone will pack clearly more tech and more premium material finish than a GS4. It will also be more expensive, this is no brainer.

C'mon Nokia you need to add 4k support very soon. Throw away those sucky dual cores. Time to wake up.

nokia will always be behind in terms of specs and features, they are too focused on improving their camera, where other companies are focused on everything and not just the camera.

Things may change if they start seeing bad results because of these old configs. New chipsets not only excel in processing speed, but also in connectivity, video decodingm encoding and much more. They should start using latest crop in the SoC industry.

invalid argument. Look at what Nokia achieved with old arm 11 and broadcomm chip. N8 and 808 are the best photo devices out there and they don´t need the newest chipsets. So....no. Powerful chipsets don´t guarantee the better results if you don´t know what and how to do.

The real problem is WP, it's not Nokia because they have follow the limitations of WP to make theire phones. An the funny part is that whereas on N8 and 808 they could use external DSP to process image/video, on WP this is not possible so they must use old chipset... And only old chipset.

so...Nokia is going to either use some different or extra-added hardware, such as stanc-alone gpu to push eos capabilities to maximum or use some other chipset instead of s4. I strongly agree that wp is the wall against which Nokia is standing, making impossible to develop Finn´s ideas the way the should be.

This is cool. But why would you want 4k videos? It will take so much space in your phone. Also might as well put a 4k screen screen on it.

sony wants to promote their 4k tvs. if it does not work then fine. it's not like you'll be compelled to record in 4k.

i think 720p is good enough. they should just include a slow mo capture feature and improve on their image quality.

still, with a 20MP sensor, it should already produce images with better details than the galaxies, gs, ones, and lumias. they should just downsample the photos to 12MP or even 8MP to produce better images. full res sony photos are almost always inferior. downsampling should address that.

sony broke its habit of being the one to play catch up by skipping the snapdragon 600. now, it's samsung, htc, and LG that will be catching up with the release of their s800 devices.

sony beat them to introducing the first s800 powered device.

you never heard of the improved S4 allready using the S800 in korea?

Who knows, the LG G2 could be released by the time Honami is released.

well in case you don't realize, sony introduced the first s800 device in the xperia z ultra. you can check the news on news.google.com. find out which one was announced first. the honami is not going to be sony's first s800 device.

i don't think so. i read these tech blogs all the time. it was just rumor at first. the official announcement was after the z ultra announcement. you can check phonearena. they have the news about these devices.

sorry mate, what was the S4 S800 chip clock speed i think it is 1.9 GHz and the GPU is adreno 320? Z ultra is 2.2 GHz and sony uses adreno 330 GPU

and Z ultra was announced before S4 S800

Think about when u want to say something and use fact. s4 sd800 is not the first sd800 because xperia z ultra was announce first before it. Don't be a blind hater

for starters. it´s not a hamster. Look closer, pal.
Secondly. Thatś the first time sony announced sth on par with the rest. I said they´ve been lagging behind so far. Learn how to read properly and get the point.
I´m not a sony hater. I remember the time when Nokia and se wre rulling the market and when younwanted to buy a phone, you choose one of them. I wish sony best but they´ve been lost for a couple of years and since they jumped the android wagon they´ve been trying to catch up.
I never said honami doesn´t exist. I said it probably doesn´t exist in a shape rumors described it. And calling it a groundbreaking eos-smashing undisputed king of android is a massive is a fanboism. There´s nothing certain and official, yet fanboys already claim it smashes everything else. Sony, unfortunatelly, failed to deliver many times so I have a right to be a bit sceptical.

Why judge a device when it's not release yet? This is one sony device not sony mobile only and the image quality will be far superior to Xperia Z
