Symbian phones with 1GHz chipsets and the UI overhaul are still on the menu

0. phoneArena posted on 13 Feb 2011, 15:59

It turns out that Symbian will still get its UI overhauled, and devices with Symbian^3, powered by 1GHz chipsets and raging graphics are still on tap. Thus Nokia will have its cake and eat it too, we are just curious to see how the company will juggle with all these operating systems in the next 12-18 months...

Can I hear something about Meego please? lol I do like this move from Nokia though. Make money in the short term with Windows. Keep Symbian running strong and hopefully we can see Meego take over in the end.

I'm so happy to hear Symbian will still be around. I honestly have tried Android and iOS by Symbian just feels like home.

Nice, but seriously, why?

If they are going to make it better great, but they have still limited the interest from consumers and developers by saying this isn't a long term solution for them.

I almost hope that the Symbian devices coming out this year outsell the first Nokia Windows Phone devices, but i don't think they will because Nokia have hampered sales and interest by announcing they are dropping Symbian.

Probably the best strategy for Nokia is to go with WP7 and market for USA. And let Symbian success continues in other parts of the world.

I like what you posted. Windows Phone 7 devices from Nokia must gain market shares from American markets (and even around the world) and Symbian, MeeGo, and S40 devices for the rest of the countries.

It maybe a good strategy, at least they could gain shares on American markets, and Symbian would still swipe the shares around the world, including S40's and MeeGo's.!

Wouldn't mind Nokia going with WP7 on the US and continuing with their great Symbian and - let's hope - MeeGo products!

This is good news. That means the present Symbian3 handsets might get cheaper.
