Good to see Nokia still taking care of old symbian. I was surprised to get an update for the music player app on my old nokia phone a few weeks back!

A little something special for WhatsApp users on Android-
I recommend the Holo version. Its great once you figure how to customize it.

You don't have to dream in it, it's the burning platform after all

no I'm having an amazing day, and don't get me wrong, please, I have nothing against nokia, as a matter of fact, I love nokia and my favourite mobile in the world is the N9, it's just exasperating what Elop has done, and another thing which I'm certainly hoping for is that Jolla buys Nokia so that way Symbian goes out of maintenance mode and MeeGo becomes a top contender against iOS and android, which brings up, will you guys @phonearena cover the event in Helsinki on nov 24th? Jolla is said to unveil their handset at that timehttp://www.jollausers.com/2012

Symbian is way better with belle fp2 only it needed was support and development for apps n OS. I use N8 and c6-01 both are very gd. Now i will move to either WP8 or android.

forever i'll love symbian!! and im so thankful that someone will give me 808 pureview!!!
now i'll save my money for N9, and BlackBerry 10 next year!!!
i still hope that nokia will let symbian live and replace s40!!! i mean here in my place there's a cheap dual core (qualcomm snapdragon s4 cortex a5) processor with adreno GPU and 512 of RAM below $100 or php3999 running vanilla android!
and as far as i know symbian dont need dual core and latest GPU and gigabytes of RAM to run fluidly! a great example is N8 and 701! nokia belle is the best thing that ever happen to N8 and belle refresh just give it more juice! 701 with belle fp2 is just awesome and amazing at the same time! they are both running single core (outdated) 1ghz processor(701) and 800mhz(N8)! and there's only like 256RAM on N8! and it dont need latest or the likes of 720p/1080p screen resolution... so thats why it is really suited for low end!
so why not choose symbian and its ecosystem (100,000 of symbian apps + can run java apps vs 25,000 s**tty java apps of s40, cant run symbian apps+ no 3D apps + no skype[skype is i think cancelled the support to symbian coz nokia decided to kill it and so why will skype wan to continue that is dying?]) as the OS for
low end? at least it can be compare to low end android! i like the interface of s40 (N9's swipe is beauty) but gosh! that drives me crazy! i just want to check the text messages i receive, but i cant coz no multitasking! i want to check the app store and switch and use another app, i cant coz no multitasking! this is really annoying! not a smartphone! what's the point of 1ghz processor? POINTLESS!! SO NOKIA PLEASE LISTEN! SYMBIAN WILL ALWAYS BE LOVE BY LOYAL AND TRUE NOKIA FANS!! DONT KILL THE REAL NOKIA!
LONG LIVE SYMBIAN!

the n9 is not a symbian phone.... and no offense but it's a little outdated, it came out in 2011 and Jolla is said to take the MeeGo ecosystem to new heights, plus the other thing we can hope for is that Elop gets fired and someone else rescues symbian or if they just simply sell the rights to symbian to Jolla, and watch Elop cry over what could've been and was meant to be but didn't happen lol :)

n9 is not outdated
if it is that means that samsung galaxy s2 and iphone 4s are outdated they're not there is just better phones improved out doesn't mean they're outdated
18. Bernoulli (Posts: 2311; Member since: 01 Sep 2012)
Well to me if a mobile is over a year old it's outdated, and like I said Jolla is about to show us on November 24 what could've been the resurrection of Nokia, click on my link on the previous comment where I talk about the burning platform

In terms of UIX, N9 is lightyear ahead
But in terms of the chipset and display, it is outdated

i know right!! but actually good engineering and architecture is at its best if you can run something that is lightyears (N9 and its Meego OS) ahead on an outdated specs! thats why i love to have N9 coz as a legacy..but still too expensive in my place! still at $600... and im so thankful that someone will give me 808 coz its a legacy and it will be a collector's item for a REAL nokia fan! but not this year... maybe next year!

You know, you can get the nokia n9 for 385 $ at Amazon.com lol

Not if you compare it to jellybean and Galaxy note II, I'm able to do things that the n9 wouldn't let me, if the n9 had an app for editing Microsoft word documents I would've bought one for everyone at my office and family, so only in that aspect is outdated, but believe me I'm still amazed how fluid and multifunctional this mobile is for just a single core.
26. pikapowerize (banned) (Posts: 1869; Member since: 03 May 2012)
thats the point.. you are comparing to the latest android, which is kinda unfair for N9's part! N9 cant edit microsoft word? thats just the problem..but over all N9 is an amazing device! too bad its doom... but still thankful that jolla will continue it!

"Well to me if a mobile is over a year old it's outdated"
thats your opinion..but like i said... good engineering and architecture is being measure if they can make something that is very advance (MeeGo is advance, Symbian is advance, the first symbian phone was 5 years ahead of its competition..and symbian catch up with belle but people say its too late... it was never too late...) and they can make it run on an outdated specs... the OMAP chips on N9 isnt really that outdated but only single core...coz remember that elop once said before that dual core and quadcore are just gimmicks and foolishness?!
so as for me... i'll buy N9 and BlackBerry 10 next year! :)
20. pikapowerize (banned) (Posts: 1869; Member since: 03 May 2012)
uummm... i never said that N9 is a symbian phone... its not outdated! only the specs but then again good engineering and architecture dont need the latest and the greatest... if you can make something to work on an outdated specs fluidly, thats innovation..thats the real engineering and good architecture! thats the very reason i'll never understand android! a lot of people wants the latest and the greatest tech to make android good...
did you see my second sentence? i want N9, i didnt say N9 is symbian... and im not talking about meego here coz now im rest assured that it has a future with jolla!
im talking about symbian! i mean why not use symbian on low end market? it dont use the SoC of qualcomm or any other chips maker! it uses the decade old broadcom chips ARMv11..it dont need dual-core quad-core to make it efficient! old symbian uses 256RAM and also uses outdated GPU by broadcom... and the greatest symbian 808 PureView, only has 512RAM which is now the standard of the low end android! coz like i said, low end android nowadays has dual-core(mediatek or qualcomm)....whats the point of the 1GHz processor of s40? no multitasking.. if nokia could just listen to REAL NOKIA FANS...and do you think big devs will ever develop their apps to s40? s40 is just lucky to receive a real twitter client..but if they continue and choose symbian, it is symbian's client not s40... s40 dont have 3D games, coz today, low end market is demanding! they also want to play 3D games on low-end phone! thats why android is slowly but surely getting the low-end shares from nokia coz they can play 3D game on a cheap android phone that is below $100 and have instagram(at least symbian has an instagram-like app, MoloMe, and its not available on s40)!
give mercy to symbian! i mean they will really give it up! it can have a future, but not for high end OS, but for low-end, it has! they have 100,000 symbian apps + can run java apps(s40 has 25,000 but only few are for touchscreen, and cant run the 100,000 apps of symbian)...

Well sure I'm comparing the n9 to the latest Android but it's not my fault nokia decided to abandon this platform, also those numbers are useless to me, since one of the main apps I use is oovoo which isn't for symbian, and maybe Jolla buys rights to symbian lol
