Swype styled typing, Large Live Tile coming to Windows Phone 8.1?
0. phoneArena 09 Feb 2014, 19:34 posted on
In addition to the new notifications center we detailed earlier today, some interesting new features are coming to your Windows Phone via the update to Windows Phone 8.1. The first report says that a Swype-styled keyboard is coming to the platform. For some strange reason, if you haven't heard of Swype, it is an alternative input to typing or using voice. Your finger swipes over the letters that spell out a word, without lifting your finger from the keyboard...

I hope that screenshot isn't supposed to be the actual screenshot, because this is obviously a shot of WP7.5.... When will PA learn....
Nevertheless, I could find a use for a large tile, and this would be just another feature to refine the already great WP OS.. I can't wait till WP8.1-0xxxx is released for my 1520...

It's just a "Larger Live Tile seen in 2011 concept slide", can you see the sentence below the pic?

No, I guess I can't read.. I scanned the article for this kind of information, but I didn't check the actual image.. My bad❕

'Large tile' seems like a ripoff from Samsung recent Magazine UX interface.
Can't Microsoft come up with any thing original? Rip off Google notification center now this? Copying from Samsung! That's lowest of the low which fits M$ market position right now!

What about the large tile in Windows 8.1? That's been around for months..
You sound stressed out..
12. joey_sfb (Posts: 2780; Member since: 29 Mar 2012)
Can't you read the heading? Its say "Large Live Tile coming to Windows Phone 8.1?" means it not on the original metro interface which consist of huge ugly icons.
The ? in the statement shows that they might not be here. Maybe they are afraid of getting sue by flip board. Microsoft always steal other companies design and make it their own unlike Samsung they license it from flip board.
Wp fans has no ethnic what so ever just like their convicted monopolistic M$ master.

The large tile in Windows 8.1 is a large live tile!.. All tiles in Windows8, and WP8, are live.. What are you smoking?..

And its kinda funny how someone who hates WP reads so closely about it... What are you scared of??? LMFAO!!!!

Can't joey_sfb read anything simple?
"Larger Live Tile seen in 2011 concept slide"
2011 is earlier than 2014 last I checked.....

Even though we should be ignoring these petty haters... You do raise a good point..

Please tell me that what you stated is sarcasm, you do realise that Samsung UX is only in existence now because of Windows Phone Live Tiles and is widely seen as a knockoff.
Google including Android at its core is influenced by Windows phone the same goes for Apple and iOS all their products and services have gone flat, Windows Phone design language is being used by everyone.
I can name many features that Android and many of it's OEM's has copied from Windows Phone and you have the nerve to talk about a rumored notification center or swype.
You accusing WP of copying is like me taking a piece of food off your plate, while you devour my plate and run away with it.
Your comment must be the dumbest comment in the history of the internet.

We have nothing to prove.. All we have to do is sit back enjoy the new Lumia, or any WP, devices that are to come out, and any new features we get..
We'll let the hatters deal with their problems on their own.. It's not our insecurities,,, it's theirs, so f### em...

I'm definitely looking forward to the new Lumia's, Nokia has such a great team and with them now working closer than ever with the WP team as they are now one company I hope to see some fantastic devices like concept below.

Putting metro ugly interface next to beautiful Samsung UX or iOS 7.
Only WP fans can find similarities. Weird.
14. NokiaFTW (Posts: 1900; Member since: 24 Oct 2012)
The entire Magazine UX seems a ripoff from WP. Whats your comment on that sir?
16. joey_sfb (Posts: 2780; Member since: 29 Mar 2012)
WP is so late in the game they practical have to ripoff every single features from their competitors.
Don't you ever forget about that! Lol!
18. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3523; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
PLEASE STOP!! You're killing me... LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
20. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3523; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
Practically all of this was in WinMo 6.3...
So, I guess Microsoft should sue Microsoft?... LOL.. OK...
22. joey_sfb (Posts: 2780; Member since: 29 Mar 2012)
I use WinMo phone as well. The only thing original from there is the blue screen of death!
That much I agree!

I use the first ms dos v1 and their rom basic. I have been their customers ever since. They have a long history of overcharging their customers and anti trust worthy method to removing their competitors.
Their current position is nothing more than the causes and effects of their karma.
29. volcano (Posts: 251; Member since: 25 Jan 2013)
you used ms dos v1 LOL from the way you talk nintendo ds clearly was the first device you ever touched ! now go back to your PS game please
41. elitewolverine (Posts: 1433; Member since: 28 Oct 2013)
I highly doubt you used dos v1.28, you could have but i doubt it. More than likely you were running the DOS that was compiled with windows 3.1 and then windows 95.
Over charging? by whos standards? Your wallet vs mine?
You talk about stealing but have no idea how MS brokered the deals of license or buyouts or well anything for that matter. All you can point to is 'but but but wiki says its true'.
In the meantime. Android has many features that were 'copied' from windows and windows mobile. Yet here you are claiming fowl.
That is like a child wearing dads pants, then when another wears pants they claim they invented the pants and forget that it was their dads pants. (sorry buying pants right now).
Please your posts reek of desperation, i am glad the droid fans i know in person are no where near you're level.

Android was so late to the game the basically had to ripoff Symbian and Maemo 5 and WebOS!
9. hurrycanger (Posts: 985; Member since: 01 Dec 2013)
Things are getting better the way I like. I love Swype-like keyboard both in Symbian and in Android. Now on WP!!!
Large tiles are pretty nice to have, too. Well, actually I want to be able to change size of the tiles the way I want. But anyway, that would only put more stress on app developers.

I request all my fellow WP users, fans on the site to ignore and not react on the comments that have or will be left by Fandroids. Lets all make an effort from our sude to keep this site troll & hate free and not spoil another WP related article. :)
26. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3523; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
It's so hard..... They're.... I'm not sure what they are, actually...
28. NokiaFTW (Posts: 1900; Member since: 24 Oct 2012)
I know that it's hard to ignore buddy, but instead of us replying back to them, let the growth of WP & its user base tell them how much the OS has matured, grown & become popular, which it already is doing. :)

Android and iOS are much more viable than wp will ever be. Why would anyone divert their limited resources for a 4% audience?
I have been using Microsoft products so long in the past despite some may say technologically superior choices such as DR Dos, OS 2 warp, Word perfect, Netscape. Because M$ was on top of the game.
Now the tide has changed. Both Apple and Google give me better choices. If a want all in one platform iOS I seriously better.
Customizable platform Android.

I played with my sisters Note 3 yesterday the Exynos version without LTE and 4K video recording. Wow I could not believe that a phone wit 8 cores can still have some Lag!
43. hurrycanger (Posts: 985; Member since: 01 Dec 2013)
I have never tried the Exynos Note 3 or Note 2, but I've seen videos of them and they lag bad. I wonder why Samsung sucks so much at making its software compatible with its own hardware. The Snapdragon Note 3 on the other hand is sweeeet. xD
32. sbw44 (Posts: 384; Member since: 04 Dec 2012)
If we ignore them some average people will actually believe the crap they saying!
39. -box- (Posts: 3749; Member since: 04 Jan 2012)
I've gotten used to typing without Swype, even though it was one of my favorite keyboards from my last Symbian phones. The WP keyboard is so good I don't need to Swype.
As for the Live Tile, I wouldn't mind an option for a vertically-tall tile, that is, rather than two sizes of square and one horizontal rectangle as we do now, a vertical rectangle one.

Man I said it once I'll say it again What is the problem with you Google / Android fans and your copying. You nut balls are hypocrites. Y'all want everything & then complain if someone took an idea.
1st - Who gives a crap ifts its copied
2nd - Unix / Linux / whatever version of it it is, its all open source (the source code is free to be copied & modified & redistributed with license in tow) did you go to school.
3 - Every company uses some form of Unix so stop complaining.
So you can't complain if someone takes from them modifies it top their liking & uses it. So long as they re-distribute the source code w/ the modified license they are clean to do business as they see fit.
The rest is how they make the UI for us. If you Droidy's don't like WP's UI & the features they have implemented then just keep it movin.
But again y'all seem to love it cause y'all are always talking why they makin that for WP it would be better for Android
That 8.1 release is right on as well as the Cortana. Slap it all in that Nokia ICON 929 & I pray for that Feb 20 release
You Droidies will be drueling
Hell even that new Samsung SM-W750V is a pwr house device but its looks just like the S4 uggg.
Ima own the 929 hahaha

I wonder if the Android fanboys hating know that Swype was on Microsoft's Windows mobile before it was in Android.
