SwiftKey for Android gets Pinyin support, emoji improvements and more

When the mobile scene first began to detract from the traditional keyboards of the BlackBerry era, many pondered whether the basic function of typing would become more arduous. For a time, that was the case, with fat-thumbed users -- including this one -- particularly disgruntled by the eradication of the physical keyboard. But thanks to SwiftKey et al, users can type with a degree of carelessness and yet still achieve great results, thanks to the ease in which these apps learn our habits -- the good and the bad. 

Today's update includes Pinyin for the Traditional Chinese language, whilst all users of the keyboard should reap the benefits of "improved typing performance", as mentioned in the changelog. 

The use of emoji characters is most definitely a Thing, and so it shouldn't be a surprise that SwiftKey emoji panel has been shown some love with this update. Taking into consideration user feedback, the panel now offers light and dark modes, dependent on the theme currently in use. 

The stock Android keyboard is certainly a solid choice, but if you're looking for a more versatile, functional alternative, SwiftKey is a good one.
