In a way, this is bad news dot WP..a single device totally kills all other WP offerings.
Mark my words, WP market share will remain pitiful in this quarter.
Even if it tripples in sales, it will mean a growth of ~ 6 million units.(meaning an extremely generous estimate of ~10M units overall )
Meanwhile, iPhone will grow by some 20 million units (around 45M total ), and Android will rake in another 10 million (135M total )
You Nokia fans really lack perspective
43. snowgator posted on 27 Nov 2012, 16:53 0 0
And you any semblance of objectivity. Growth is growth, and that is what WP needs. Of course there will be some, like you, that will talk down to any sign of strength. Of course, even the best case scenario for Nokia will be paltry compared to Android and Apple overall sales. But the point is survival of Nokia and the recognition of this great device. HTC and Samsung can build off of the success of the 920, and Nokia needs to as well. But this is great news for competition and choice. Everyone benefits from a healthy, aggressive, and successful 3rd OS.

Gee, I agree.
No problem with such opinion. I wish most of WP fans were like you though.
It's fan boys I have low tolerance for.

920 sells well but WP will not. 920 alone cannot save WP.
Still we must aclnowledge Nokia's efforts.
75. NokiaFTW posted on 03 Dec 2012, 10:45 1 0
Its not that a single device kills WP8 , its the quality & software enhancement that makes a phone good . Eg : SG3 is ripping android sales , thats cuz it has some good software enhancements by Samsung .

A small Swedish retailer? Selling 4 phones per year to Bears?
Don't make us laugh loud...
At least Guys let's talk about a big European retailer, and you will see the the the top selling devices are GNexus, Nexus 4, Note 2, S3, One X+, iPhone 5, iPhone 4s...
12. Just_a_boy posted on 27 Nov 2012, 12:01 15 5
Lumia 920 is the most innovative phone of the year, Nokia deserve it because they worked hard to bring a strong competitor to the table. A 3rd big OS will be great for innovations and affordable prices. And the Sweden is a 9+ million country, and there are beautiful places to go, is not a mediaeval land that you think it is!
14. Bernoulli posted on 27 Nov 2012, 12:08 10 5
No, the most innovative phone of the year is the nokia 808 pureview, nothing in this world will come close to it.
18. sorcio46 posted on 27 Nov 2012, 12:26 2 11
I'm not talking about what's the most innovative, but only about sales, and Nokia is selling few phones compared to the other manufacturer.
34. Lboogey6 posted on 27 Nov 2012, 14:47 3 7
most innovative? its a great phone but most innovative is a big claim and we can't go by just the camera so give us a little more to go off of like features... cause im still not really blown away by anything feature wise since i got my s3 thats right even the gn4.. lol

I hate to say this but I have to :(
Live tiles is the most innovative things I have ever seen... This could change everything... Probably will replace the twenty years old icon soon... That's what I afraid of...
54. Immolate posted on 27 Nov 2012, 22:41 0 2
I get that some people like the live tiles, but to others, including me, they are ghastly and a giant step backward to when we didn't have a lot of colors or pixels to work with. Icons and widgets don't have to be box or a rectangle.
The good news for WP8 is that Windows 8 is even more distateful than the phone, thus distracting attention from it.
Now before you go smacking me around for being a Windows hater, I've been a Windows fan since Windows 286. I feel like every version since then has been an improvement (with the exception of Vista). But at least Vista retained the general flavor of Windows. Win8 tries to reinvent the OS in a revolutionary way. Bad idea IMO.

MS did a good job ditching the zune requirement. while i have read that it's still somewhat clunky moving files around, this new feature alone is making me reonsider windows as a mobile platform
16. AliNSiddiqui posted on 27 Nov 2012, 12:25 0 0
It's even harder to move files now... they shouldn't have removed Zune if they didn't have a better alternative.

nokia's same old design.....weird becuase i have an 808 looks nothing like the 920, my n95 didnt either. nokia designs are among the best. the n9 (which should get the credit) looks great.
and the fact your saying''is dumb'' shows your a disgrace to any android users, giving them and everyone a bad name with your crap.
but you continue living in your sad fanboy world , others will move to new things and not be as single minded as you and they will be enjoying there tech alot more then you

I can't get excited about a single small retailer, but Nokia has a strong history (outside the U.S). and I suspect the same is true for Microsoft. And Apple is overpriced (relatively). I wouldn't be surprised if Windows Phone becomes the #2 smartphone platform in Europe within 3 years.
That's right. I said it.
31. chaoticrazor posted on 27 Nov 2012, 13:35 0 1
it could become number 1,bb might suprise everyone and become number 1 or 2 or 3
no one knows, cant say for certain in 2-3 years what will be top
46. -box- posted on 27 Nov 2012, 18:16 1 0
I've been saying since WP7 first launched that by mid-decade Android and WP are likely to be the duopoly for cell phones, with Nokia and Samsung leading the sales charts. Bada, BB, Sailfish, or something else will take 3rd, and ios will fall by the wayside unless it gets a huge update to bring it up to true smartphone levels.
27. jibraihimi posted on 27 Nov 2012, 12:59 0 4
Where are the numbers in millions Nokia..........??? Apple sold 5 million iPhone5 in first three days of it's availability, whereas Samsung got orders for 10 million Galaxy S3 within first 10-15 days of it's availability; but we never get to hear this type of numbers from Nokia, we only get to hear, 'demand in huge'; 'it's completely sold out in this and that region' etc........... Nokia if demand is really that huge then please come out with numbers, this will boost the confidence of potential buyers...........
38. darac posted on 27 Nov 2012, 15:13 0 1
I think Nokia can't produce more than 5 million units per quarter.
So that could be the highest sales number one could hope for IMO.
But I really doubt this will be a true blockbuster.
Even the first Lumia 900 had some sensationalist initial reports, only to yield a few million units in TOTAL.
Plus, the reviews..nothing to write home about.

Go for the red. White is so common.
Personally I'll get the cyan, but the yellow is a close second.
33. mrcrangle posted on 27 Nov 2012, 14:08 2 0
Really pleased for Nokia that the phone looks like it might be a success :) Delighted with my red 920...took some tenacity to get one early in the UK but well worth it. Got a bit of a whinge on accessories, though...the 'free charger' is through a pain-in-the-backside rebate scheme and the lovely looking JBL Power Up speaker is $250 in the US but £285 in the UK...outrageous!
35. darac posted on 27 Nov 2012, 15:03 2 3
I can't not to notice that all those sales reports are from a marginal sources.
That British retailer had 3 Acer phones in top seven!
Even those basically non-existent Acer phones were selling better than the Galaxy s3.
Now this retailer.. from Sweden.
Well hello, Sweden is a Nokia's neighborhood, a traditional stronghold.
Don't get me wrong, this device is undoubtedly selling really well but no need to go apesh!t about it.
It will get nowhere near the Galaxy S3' sales.
39. darac posted on 27 Nov 2012, 15:39 1 2
:O LOOK HOW IT DID IN THE 20 BEST PHONES CHART!!
48. -box- posted on 27 Nov 2012, 18:20 1 1
Should have done better. I would have rated the S3 lower, ip5 much lower (not even top 10, personally), and had the OneX+, OptimusG, and Lumia 920 scattered among the top 3, with the Note2 or WP8X as #4
58. darac posted on 28 Nov 2012, 02:05 0 1
That's your opinion. (BTW I think it's laughable to put WP8X) above the S3 )The chart reflects a cumulative opinion of experts who reviewed all of these phones.
I have some complaints(I think the One s sucks and would place the Note 2 separately) about it also, but that's just inevitable.
We can't all agree.
The point and fact is, 920 isn't anything exceptional according to majority of reviews.

POT KETTLE BLACK ???
61. darac posted on 28 Nov 2012, 06:16 0 0
Here is an attempt of a completely unbiased comparison between S3 and 920.
The S3 HAS OTA vendor updates (I got my jelly bean that way.. it was perfectly seamless), and it HAS a radio.
It also has a HKMG produced chip, so the stated advantage for a Nokia chip is really not valid.
It also has a continuous auto focus, as well as the USB mass storage mode!
Now, you do the math.
64. chaoticrazor posted on 28 Nov 2012, 09:02 0 0
im sure the 920 has mass storage, and as for the auto focus, im sorry but the s3's camera is pretty average to poor at best. the autofocus is real dim it also looses focus and spends a couple seconds trying to focus on nothing. so you cant hold that as an advantage lol
second i notice that you only ever claim unbiased when you can get it in favor of the s3. why are the reviews that show the 920 as better biased?
66. darac posted on 28 Nov 2012, 10:07 0 0
Gosh what a hypocrite you are.
Plus you are playing dumb!
Here I gave you the most "non biased " comparison, which happened to clearly give points to 920 on a false claims.
The real result is 19:16 in favor of Samsung.
On a pure spec basis, Nokia obviously wins in camera department, Samsung wins overall.
Deal with it.
67. darac posted on 28 Nov 2012, 10:14 0 0
Just to illustrate how you don't read posts at all, nor are trying to understand, nor can be taken seriously .. you say Nokia has mass storage mode.
And I said the comparison states that as an advantage over Samsung.. which also happens to have mass storage mode.
Got it now, genius?
69. chaoticrazor posted on 28 Nov 2012, 10:20 0 0
keep attacking and defending lol
your just showing yourself as an angry fanboy, all your trying to do is try and prove the s3 is better and your doing it in a dire tragic way. both devices have there merits yet your consistant at trying to make sure android is seen as better
so err genius why you gotta defend samsung so much? and why you getting all angry bro-seph lmao
again couldnt care anyway
