Swappa introduces device protection plans for used smartphones

Swappa, the online website for selling and buying gently used gadgets, has been making some pretty significant changes over the past month. We first saw the company finally release a full-fledged Android app for their site, and following this announcement was a less popular change with an increase in their buyer fees. Swappa has yet another announcement to make for their online garage sale of tech, and this one actually looks to be a very nice addition.
Starting today, Swappa will begin to offer Used Phone Protection Plans from WarrantyLife. The protection plans work similarly to what you'd be able to purchase with a new smartphone, and the pricing model is quite similar as well. Purchasing a protection plan for your new used gadget from Swappa will allow you to blanket it with coverage for cracked screens, water damage from any accidental spills or drops, power surges, and more. If you happen to encounter any of these issues while under Swappa's new protection plan, the company will either repair the device of the cover the entire value of the phone in question for a full year.
The Used Phone Protection Plans cost $50 for devices $300 and under, $60 for devices with a value up to $500, and $70 for ones up to $1000 in value. A 30-days refund policy is available if you decide that you don't really need a protection plan for your phone after purchasing it, and a deductible of $50 is there as well.
Although not every needs a protection plan with their phone, it sure is nice to see that Swappa is now making this an option for those who are interested in having extra peace of mind with their daily driver. The new protection plans are live now on Swappa's site, and similar plans for tablets and laptops should be coming soon in the near future.
