No parent wants think their kids are cheating. I am sure schools are aware of this but what can they do? Do schools install devices that disable cell phones like Hospitals during test times?

2. bigfanboyred posted on 22 Jun 2009, 11:19

hospitals, that i know dont have disabling devices. doctors have pagers but also use their cell phones. were i work, people with iphones lose their signals- i have vzw, & i have evdo all bars...

I know they shut off cell signals in the radiology departments so you don't interfere with the tests

The only thing I could see though is if you have another Columbine situation and the phones are shut down and noone can call out incase of emergency...Just a thought, but I didnt have a cell phone in school and I dont think the future of our world should be filled with techno cheaters...

The highschool I went to had disruptors down every hall. The only place you had signal was the lobby outside of the office, or in the parking lot. Wasn't ever really an issue, and if an emergency call had to be made, the people responsible (The office workers were designated.) could take two steps out the door and make a call.

nothing new in my school....come on, its 8th grade, everyone has a phone in my class (almost haha :] ) no one ever gets caught, and teachers are so oblivions not saying i cheat.... but definitely others.............:(

13. vzw fanman posted on 22 Jun 2009, 16:32

i think having a cell phone in school is NOT disruptive...it's more disruptive/annoying if the teacher says "put the phone away" then everyone looks at you..the teacher should ignore it, if you want to text and not pay attention for two seconds it's your responsibility. :-)

17. E.N. posted on 22 Jun 2009, 19:16

That's so right. If someone is not paying attention, teachers should just leave them and let them fail the tests. It's the teachers responsibility to go over the material and not baby-sit the students.

14. Kiltlifter posted on 22 Jun 2009, 16:42

i think teachers need to incorporate cell phone technology in the class room... like if a department were to purchase a PSMS short code and incorporate texting when you are finished with the reading or the first one to text the correct answer wins... something like that.. a cell phone can be vital to education is used properly.
