Hmmmm Apple also said the iphone 4 antenna was okay.
Michael seems to think Apple has turned a leaf but it seems now seems the annual faulty product denial is one apple policy which certainly hasn't changed!

you need to update the original article you link to. Consumer reports ran the test and they had multiple units hit 116 degrees while playing video games.

that said, its sad to see that apple still retains its holier than thou attitude about its glitches.. eeeerrr "features". That was one of the things i was hoping would change under cook.

I don't believe apple is trying to sweep it under the rug. Every issue like this tends to get addressed in one way or another, and if a software iteration can fix it, it will be issued before long. My iMac was having an issue with disconnecting from Wi-Fi in sleep mode, I had checked almost daily for a software update to fix it. So finally one day (before I had checked for a software update) I called AppleCare and the agent asked that I check for updates. Reluctantly, I checked for updates and it turns out, they literally released the update to fix the problem that day. Apple doesn't like to admit they've made mistakes, but they do well to address them.

My theory is that they like to appear as though they can fix problems immediately. I'm absolutely sure that as soon as they received the first complaint about this heat issue they began investigating the cause, they will formulate a solution, then express that there is an issue that is being addressed, that way when they release the solution, it seems as though less time has actually passed since the problem began to exist.

It is a two-in-one device. You use it as a regular ipad and you can also toast some bread on it. That is an extra feature that the very customer-centric Apple has built in.

All the trolls here are funny. Apple didn't say it doesn't run warmer. It said it runs within acceptable limits and from what we see it does. It's not uncomfortable and it's not causing issues. You fandroids want Apple to fail so bad. It must suck to constantly read about how successful Apple is and how happy their customers are.

Like it or not, the "Apple approach" to problems rarely backfires on them. Sales and Apple mania continue to increase. Not how I prefer them to communicate but it doesn't seem to be affecting their sales.

LOL I'm not an apple fan but this heat problem is exaggerated... I read that the iPad heats up to 35C degrees. My Lumia 800 is perfectly fine and it heats up to 54C degrees when charging and playing/browsing!

I have no problems with heat...
