Surface Pro 4 successor leaks in press renders ahead of May 23rd announcement

The unannounced slate is simply called the Surface Pro, which is probably one of the reasons that Microsoft officially said that a Surface Pro 5 does not exist and will not be launched on the market for a while...

Love my Surface Pro 4 to death. Looking forward to an upgrade after a year and change though, so this is a welcomed sight!

Not trying to troll but why is Microsoft still avoiding USB Type C like the plague?

I was wondering too, I see no proper reason why didn't they start the transition last year.

Because this is a PC. It needs a full sized USB port because most things you connect to it uses that.

By "transition" I mean include Type-C along with Type-A ones, it doesn't necessarily mean take Apple's switch all of them instantly approach.
Heck even modern desktop motherboards have Type-C now.

And as we know Usb c isn't backwards compatible, so it is good to design a premium product using lady generation technology!

All they need to do is replace miniDP with Thunderbolt 3

miniDP users most likely already use adapters for HDMI/VGA anyway

Yeah, the HP X2 1012 has USB-C Thunderbolt and a USB-A. Not sure why Microsoft cant manage the same.

Remember the Surface Laptop MS own video, where it actually showed 2 type-C next to the only type-A the laptop came with, I wish MS could give a explanation for discarding using type-C at the end, like seriously!

Agreed. Why can't they simply replace that Mini DisplayPort with a Thunderbolt 3 port? It's not like Mini DIsplayPorts are widely adopted compared to USB Type C...

Oh well, simply not worth the upgrade to my Surface Pro 2.

I could see Microsoft releasing a "refreshed" version of the Surface Pro 4 that has 7th (or 8th) gen Core i processors and updated RAM.

In my opinion, about the only thing that could be done to improve the Surface Pro 4 (other than reducing the price, would be to include some kind for dedicated GPU with at least 2GB of dedicated video RAM.

I hope the 2018 Surface Pro has Raven Ridge APU
Ryzen 4c8t with 8 Vega CUs
Slightly worse single core perf, but multi core perf would be similar to Intel's quad cores
Its iGPU would be roughly equivalent to GTX 950M, maybe between the 960M and GTX 965M/1050

Surface Pro 4 Plus? Not much of an upgrade from the Surface Pro 4, so not interested.

In a perfect world of Surface products... 1x USB 3.0 type A, 1x Thunderbolt 3, 1x Display port, MicroSD, magnetic power port.
