Just because no one can wait the week and a half or so until Apple announces the iPhone 5, we've got more supposed news on the upcoming smartphone. This time, the reported info claims to be actual video of Apple's next big smartphone...

well apple either abandoned their "policy" of secrecy or were quite bad at it this time around…
but it looks nice and really thin-- i like that the 8-pin connector can be attached either way by the look of it

I like how it makes pretty much all the accessories that people using previous iPhones have obsolete.
It's quite hilarious, actually; many iPhone users stick with it because they don't want to have to buy all new accessories. Now they'll have to anyway. Perhaps they'll start giving alternatives a look because of this?

Accessory manufacturers were whining to Timmy about getting their margins improved. Timmy's team delivered with the 8/9 pin new connector....
Wana bet the the Apple fans didn't know they needed a new connector?

Well, they'll be figuring it out soon enough. I'm sure it won't be enough to deter people, and they'll rush to buy ALLLL the new accessories as soon as possible. Funny thing is that iPhone owners seem to feel the need to throw as much money as possible at anything remotely related to their phones.
Either way I'm sure that it'll be a busy week when it launches, and I'll have to deal with the bleating from people rushing into the store. "I want an iPhone, and I don't want to look at ANYTHING else! Also, I expect this transaction to take five minutes, so I won't be getting anything extra to make up for the fact that you don't make any frickin' margin on the phone!"
Why yes, I will be a grumpy Gus that week.

Well I don't really expect you to understand since when compared to iPhone, specific Android devices have hardly any accessories. It's not like most of you actually have the choice NOT to "throw as much money as possible at anything remotely related to their phones". I've read many Android users on this site actually say they wish there were more accessories for Android devices.
And I swear, you guys make the biggest deal out of the smallest things just cause you're haters! Are we really making this big a deal about an 8-pin connector? That's probably the #1 thing I DON'T care about, as long as they provide me with a cable for charging. After every iPhone I purchase, I run the risk of not having it compatible with some of my accessories. And some of my accessories aren't even compatible with my current iPhone! And besides, Apple has stuck with their standard connector for over 10 years now, since their original iPod (I believe). This change was obviously going to happen sometime or another, and its not like Apple's changing the connector every damn year. Additionally, this new connector, should last much much longer than 10 years (maybe indefinitely), since its so small, compact, and doesn't waste as much space as the current ones. Don't worry about us iPhone users though, we'll be fine. You on the other hand, I'm worried about. Just sell the phones and move on with your life. Take your vacation days. Or quit, that works too...lol jk. but seriously, no big deal. No need to be grumpy

This is so true. Many or most don't have any idea their iaccessories won't work with the new iPhone. It was just luck that they retained the 3.5mm headset jack or am I talking too soon?

"...or am I talking too soon?"
I expect we will know in 9 days, now.

i dont think so at all… it is just a progression of technology… i would much rather apple adopt the new smaller connector and buy new accessories than use the old one…
is it quite hilarious that a new android phone comes out every month making urs obsolete? its the same stupid argument..

do not talk about iPhone's features....it is 2 years behind Android so it is useless to talk about iPhone's features....just talk about
BOYCOTT Apple with his immoral, spoiled, bribing behaviour:

September 12 is coming up like a freight train. I won't be able to pay too much attention to the launch, however, because it's my birthday.
Yes, I know. You can cut the irony with a knife.

Haha I think I know what Taco should get you for your birthday, you know if he wasn't banned.

That's Wasup, mines the 15th. Too much alcohol that week to pay attention to a new toy.

Frankly, this strikes me as a bogus leak. Apple is much more proficient at leaking than this amateur attempt. Based on all that has been 'reliably' leaked about the iPhone5, it should be a simple effort to produce a prototype unit (wasn't one making the rounds at IFA this past week?). Those who want to learn whatever truth remains to be told about the real iPhone5 just need to wait another 10 days and they will be set free.

Also, little thing about the boot animation: the Apple logo doesn't zoom out toward the viewer like the actual iPhones do. And the matte black of the background on the connect to iTunes screen? Also strange that there would be no option to wirelessly activate; even the 4 gives the option to activate by hooking up to a wifi connection.
I mean, unless every single freaking leak was faked this time around, we are probably still looking at a mockup of the real deal, but this video is likely just a fake to garner attention.

Damn I didn't see your post before I left my comment. But I was on the same note as you. Somethings is fishy if it requires the user to connect to iTunes. Good catch.

actually is it just me or is PhoneArena suddenly getting DoS Attack?
anyone getting a "server down" message when accessing phonearena right now?

I think it's a different try like previous iphone forgotten in bar and picked up by a total stranger story.
This time the stranger got the phone without the new revolutionary data cable, and he's frightened apple will track him down.
This is a good story for a new tv serial.

At least its not being announced on September 18th, ill be far too busy playing Borderlands 2.
22. clevername (Posts: 1435; Member since: 11 Jul 2008)
You know the most suspect thing about this, and I'm not saying it isn't real, is that since iOS 5 you don't need to connect to a computer or iTunes anymore.
42. protozeloz (Posts: 5387; Member since: 16 Sep 2010)
true, but if its a beta phone I could see them having that disable in order to easily track a missing unit, but I think this might be the real stuff
you expect any names for the device? My bet.. wont be called iPhone 5
25. techguy22 (Posts: 227; Member since: 09 Aug 2012)
oh no apple now invented 4inch screen phones...lawsuit coming up.
26. iLOVECELLPHONECOMMISSION (Posts: 2; Member since: 03 Sep 2012)
so apple had a leak of the actual iphone5 a week and a half prior to the official release of it? thats actually really good, being that everyone else has leaks that are weeks, months, and even years before any official reveling

The back of the phone in this video is significantly different from all the leaks we've been seeing for the last couple of months.
Although I believe this is another fake, it's far more consistent with Apple's approach in comparison with these previous leaks.
Firstly, there are no glass bars on top and the bottom, which is simplicity of unified material that Apple still follows. Putting two glass bars on metal back as in previous leaks would be a redundancy for Apple.
Secondly, position of camera is now consistent with all previous iPhones. Its center is equally distanced from edges of the phone, and positioned in virtual center of edge fillet of iPhone, like in all previous models. Leaks before that had camera that was non-centered and arbitrary put there just to be in the "glass area", which is not Apple style.
Thirdly, the position of logo and text ("iPhone" and serial numbers) is now again like in previous iPhones and utilize the same font. Previous leaks have akwardly positioned those infos and logo and doesn't even use same, but modified font.
So, this could probably be closer to what we should expect. And far less exciting, but it's the Apple style: don't change much what is already good, no matter what others say about changing this just for the sake of change.

PS - glass bars on top and the bottom could however have their explanation. iPhone 4/4S used completely glass material, which allowed iPhone's back to be completely flat because glass is the toughest (in terms of scratches) material after diamond. If they use aluminum back, it will be prone to severe scratches over time when it's flat. So, putting two bars of glass material on top and the bottom that are slightly elevated over aluminum part would pretty much prevent this.
This one in the video has all-metal back. Maybe they came up with a more efficient solution in terms of coating.

but with the phones, there is no better or worse, theres just "different"..... andriod this, apple that, who cares, all we do is instagram, facebook, tweet, play word games, email and text. what else do we need it to do?
33. Nikolas.Oliver (banned) (Posts: 1574; Member since: 01 Jul 2012)
hey it doesn't have a two tones design on the back, perhaps apple decided not to use that design

"no one can wait the week and a half or so until Apple announces the iPhone 5" - sorry, but I beg to differ. Just because the iPhone is the Justin Bieber of mobiles, I couldn't care less about another snoozefest announcement of a snoozefest of a phone that looks only marginally different from its predecessor, with "new" features that have been around in virtually every other phone for at least a year (but rather for more). And I doubt I'm alone with this.
36. AppleConspiracy (Posts: 637; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
This is good - Justin Bieber of phones :-)
Probably because it has a mythical status which we are jealous about - everyone hates it but everyone wants it. Don't underestimate the power of myth.

Can not wait for this phone to come out...the news stories of the fools waiting online like fat idiots with chairs and tents..and after, the product reviews and breakdowns. The true false theories are getting way too annoying.

phone is fake how come he never turned it on
