Supposed LG G2 mini clears the FCC, might not be so mini after all

0. phoneArena 11 Feb 2014, 02:29 posted on

Rumor has it that LG is working on a smaller variant of its current flagship smartphone, the LG G2. It is also believed that this "LG G2 mini", or whatever the device ends up being called, will go by multiple model names, including LG D618 and LG D620. Well, the former is now listed in FCC's database, and here's all the information that we could squeeze out of the papers...

As it is "G2 mini" hopefully it will get just 8Gb of storage with no SD card...reason i didnt go for G2 was 16gb only avaialble in my country.

Good thing about S4 was when you shoot and making videos in better quality, dwnload some music - when i was full on storage, i got sd card...take this point LG!!!

Such a Samsung fan comment that I see here. It is not like LG NEVER offer a phone with SD expansion. Good for you that you like the S4 with the "better video" and the SD card storage. For those people that don't need all that memory with a OIS camera, G2 fits the bill. The mini is most likely close to the big brother.

Yeah he is a fanboy because he bought a phone which he preferred. smh -.-

BTW, GS4's software stabilization is pretty good. Almost (if not entirely) on par with hardware OIS. Not to mention GS4 scored the same marks as LG G2 in phonearena's test.

I never have problem if you love samsung so much but please don't talk BS like this
"BTW, GS4's software stabilization
is pretty good. Almost (if not
entirely) on par with hardware OIS."

According to real profesional at DxOMark the trusted industry standard for camera and lens independent image quality measurements and ratings.

S4 has disappointing video stabilization.
And let me show you one of the most fair comparison.

You do know that test is sponsored by LG, right ? Besides that's not how human hands work.

What I was saying was hardware OIS does not necessarily mean it will always be exceedingly better than software. Software implementation does make quite a bit of a difference.

HTC One with OIS is beaten by iphone without OIS here.

Lol just because iphone digital stabilization beat htc one doesn't mean S4 has the same quality in my video you can clearly see that G2 and iphone doing great.

Do you read this??
"According to real profesional at DxOMark
the trusted industry standard for camera
and lens independent image quality

S4 has disappointing video stabilization."

The test maybe sponsored by LG but the test is fair because all phones get the same vibrations and even DxOMark said that S4 has disappointing video stabilization you can cek here.
http://www.dxomark.com/Mobiles/Samsung-Galaxy-S4-overview-Does-bigger-mean-better

when it come to digital video stabilization only iphone and Z1 is compareable and even better than some other phones with OIS.

the stabilization score comparison according dxomark.
L925 : 60
Z1 : 59
iPhone 5s : 57
L1020 : 49
G2 : 46
S4 : 35
as you can see the S4 has the worst video stabilization and when it comes to camera test dxomark is way... much more trusted than phonearena or just some video on youtube.

Again, those score you posted just goes to prove my point:

1. G2 is not so exceedingly better than S4

2. Software Optimization can still beat hardware stabilization as iPhone is beating L1020 and G2 with hardware stabilization.

3. Half truth is full lie. That very website gave S4 higher overall score than G2. Hence, my original reply to WakaFlaka still stands true. And even without OIS GS4 has better camera than G2.

'Nuff said !

I agree with this
1. G2 is not so exceedingly better than S4.

But you are totaly wrong with this one.
2. Software Optimization can still beat hardware stabilization as iPhone is beating L1020 and G2 with hardware stabilization.
because the the best OIS can always beat the best Digital stabilization.
As you can see from the test Z1 the best phone with digital stabilization can't beat L925 3 axis OIS.
Some manufacturer like Sony combine OIS with digital stabilization thats why some compact and video camera from sony has outstanding stabilization even with only 2 axis OIS.

dxomark gave S4 higher overall score than G2. because overall S4 has better image and video quality than G2.
G2 has better camera than S4 but S4 has better software.

Remember this?? "BTW, GS4's software stabilization is pretty good. Almost (if not entirely) on par with hardware OIS" for me what you said is BS because GS4's software stabilization is not good, almost or even on par with OIS.

I see a lot of people that complain about not having enough storage on the G2... However...In case you didn't know. LG has made an alliance with an App called "Box". When you download that app thru your LG Device ONLY they give you an extra 50GB of Cloud Storage for FREE FOR LIFE...eat your heart out SD Cards and Samsung!! #LGREPRESENT!!

Can you tell me what happen when the memory is full and i need to take some pictures and videos but in the same time there is no internet connection or data package???
SD Card is much better and easier solution than cloud storage.

Sony also offer the same 50GB of Cloud Storage for FREE FOR LIFE from BOX but they also provide SD Card slot on their devices.

I can see your point on SD Cards...You make a valid point as well...but...if you lose your phone, gets stolen, takes a dip in the swimming pool...(a staggering 66% of people within the 1st yr of owning their device will be lost, stolen, or damaged) you just lost everything on your device...Cloud storage...no matter what phone, carrier, etc I still get all of my kick back...

On a side note, most places offer Wi-Fi for free...you would be hard pressed to not get data from somewhere...I have Sprint...LOL I would know...

LG is screwing up android ecosystem, 2years ago a flag ship phone would be around 4.3". Now its coming up with 4.7" "minis". What has this world come to?

Does that have anything to do with LG solely? LOL. Try say something about the Galaxy Note 3, Acer Liquid S2, Nokia 1520?? Technology is advancing FAST buddy. Apple's flagship is at 4.0inches. Do you feel better now?

If it comes out with G2 specs and 4.7 inch screen it will sell like hot cakes...

Right, because the only thing that stopped the G2 from "selling like hotcakes" was the size of its screen. You're the definition of delusional.

I've been wanting to upgrade to G2, but it's just slightly too big. So, lately I've been eyeing the Moto G, but the specs just aren't there for me. G2 mini might just hit the sweet spot in terms of size, performance, and price. Will wait a few months and see.

I switched from Samsung to LG G2 and it's the best. No complaints at all.
A huge upgrade. Just do it!

LG is ahead of the curve, if you look at the Optimus G, it had similar specs to the S4 that came out months later...Now the G2 is out and everyone is clamoring about the S5 being better...the S5 will be the G2 months later...I'm not saying Samsung is poor by any means, all I am saying is that LG is on the right track!!
