Suits with iPhones: Apple activations in the enterprise still command 70/30 share over Android in Q2
0. phoneArena 25 Jul 2012, 06:47 posted on
The Good Tech guys logged 70.8% activations of iOS devices in the enterprise during the April-June period, which was down from the 80% logged in Q1, but still very significant. Apple's CFO Pete Oppenheimer also commented on how fast iOS is being adopted there during the conference call yesterday: "iPad continues its rapid adoption within the enterprise. We estimate that the number of iPads in the Fortune 500 is more than tripled in the past year."

Android won the consumer market after Apple dominated it. So if history repeats it self, then it's only a matter of time until the same can be said in the business world also.

Agree man, with JB Androids will have good security and their advantage in price, diversity will tell.

android has had good security for quite a while. its only the iFools that believe that it doesnt. Test after test proves it does though.
The graph also shows that apple business acts were down 10% while android acts were up 10%. I bet if they show this graph again after next quarter, we see a wide swing with SGS3 adoption.
first they get what everyone around them has (the iphone) because they dont know anything but blackberries. Then they get what works and isnt filled with a lot of "I cant do that" statements, which is a high end android device.
Eventually, they will start switching over to W8. I'd be very surprised if W8 doesnt take a large chunk of the business side of life within the next 3-4 yrs.
Also, where's the graph that shows actual business USE, not just activations. The 2 are not always the same.

MS Office on a phone that used speech to text would be huge for enterprise.
I too think this chart will have some major changes in the next year or two.

Not to mention that Motorola provides corporate security on their recent phones which can be just as good as Blackberry phones.

The iPhone has been out long enough, so I'm sure they know by now what works for their company and what doesn't. This isn't 2007 anymore. But I do believe that the numbers will eventually balance out. The SG3 will definitely help with that, but then again we can't count out the iPhone 5/6.
A survey with business use instead of activations would be interesting, but that's not something that's easily measured. I'd bet though, that the numbers would still be in favor of the iPhone based soley on mobile browsing %, app downloads, etc. iPhone users just seem to use their phones more don't ask me why.

This makes perfect iSense and iApplaud these findings. Truth is, as iHave learned with my iPhone 4S, since it really can't do much, there's NO risk involved. After all, you can't download anything, browser doesn't support flash (no security risk there), porn sites are iBanned: it's the perfect device for corporations that need to control their employees. It is, though, a hell of a great music player. iAlways chuckle when iSee people on the subway with their iPhones; they're always pretending to be doing something else whilst listening to music but, they're just listening to music. The physical actions that they execute are only done because of a subconscious need to interact with something; it's all about appearances and iValidation.

Well, I believe the real reason that business have adopted the iphone (and that will change soon) is the fact that only one manufacturer makes the phone - creates some stability, which businesses look to, especially for updates.
And, I am sure APPLE gives a nice discount to large corporations....

Or maybe it's a better device for their needs than android

I think it's like bmw/mercedes/audi the "premium" cars.
ever tough there are other cars that are better(better fuel economy, driving smoother, more options for a cheaper price tag) business people will usually buy the iphone/bmw/merc/audi only because they care about status.
and according to them people will check out your car/phone and accept you because of that.

When u read these comments u see that androd users r jus as much the sh**p they say iOS users are. It kills me how much u all want apple, and iOS to fail so much so that u come up with these funny/stupid/crazy comments to blast apple. U guys uphold android like apple users uphold iOS. Yet u call them sh**p... That's funny as hell. Google takes your money like apple takes their users money, last I heard it was called big business and every company practices it. Ish**p ansh**p what's the difference? Please don't give me crap about specs. And customization either cuz sh**p r sh**p no matter who the shepherd is. We all get herded. Quad core dual core widgets no widgets 3.5 in screen 4.8 in screen or more. Doesn't matter anyone loyal to a brand is a sh**p. Androidsh**p included.
