Tablets in general and the iPad in particular are a fairly recent phenomenon as widespread devices for consuming or interacting with information. Studies that examine the long-term effect on kids cognitive abilities when using a smartphone or tablet apps take 3-5 years to complete, and the iPad has hardly been around that long...

Of course, iPad is good for children's education. It's not a toy. No, no way it's a toy.
OK, maybe it is. But at least they learn something... errrm, useful, like playing with iPad and... stuff.

Of course somehow it doesn't educate when other tablets are in question, just iPad. Children want it obsesively for some reason, we don't know why... still, it's a very good thing. Education is gooood.
