Stricter quality control may lead iPhone 5 production to slow down

0. phoneArena 10 Oct 2012, 04:58 posted on

It isn't nice purchasing a brand new iPhone 5 and then finding a dent in its aluminum body the moment you pick it up. Thankfully, that isn't likely to happen soon as Foxconn - the company assembling the iPhone 5, will introduce stricter quality controls...

Its a good thing that they have listened to their customers.

Yeah the damage is already done, but its the first time apple have put customers before sales and profit. Its a step in good direction.

I was just a bit optimistic there, I seriously want Apple to change their attitude towards their customers and fix all their problems(Atleast the major ones like maps, camera etc).

You mean they listen to their shareholders. Customers are going to repeat buy their products no matter what, shareholders are a different problem.

And yes, AAPL is on a steady decline.

No matter what? Tell that to folks who used to call them "Crackberries." No company is invincible, not even Apple.

Also don't be so fickle to only look at one quarter of stock prices. I think I've been on this site for about 5 years or so and I've heard "Apple is going downhill" since their stock prices were $300 a share...thank god you're not an investment banker huh?

Blackberry doesn't, nor probably ever had, the level of customer loyalty that Apple enjoys. While I agree, any company can fall, it doesn't appear that Apple's customers are anywhere close to jumping ship, regardless of how poorly they fumble.

Apple's shareholders are changing, the new crowd is less tolerant of failure than they used to be. Now that Steve is gone, many question the decisions being made. While Apple doesn't listen to their customers, they have to listen to the shareholders so it's a different story on that side of the coin.

And I'm not one of those "Apple is going to die" people, but I do believe they are headed in the direction of being just another company if they keep blundering.

Maybe they are just prepping their excuse as to why they are being outsold by the gs3 ;)

I was wondering that myself. Got to blame low sales on something. In any event, I don't think Apple is going to be putting up the sales numbers they were expected to be putting up.

"As a result, metal iPhone 5 frames with nicks and dents should end up being used in the assembly process." ?

So they are gonna continue using bad casings?

So now with the average shipping time being 3-4 weeks, are we going to see it become 6-8 weeks. I cannot imagine purchasing a phone only having to wait up to a month to get it, let alone two. It's like pre-ordering a device before launch thats already been launched.

Which is why I posted that Apple won't be putting up the sales numbers the analyst community has been expecting.

Sounds Sammy is going to have another blow-out quarter for GS III sales....

Just purchased mine yesterday.. I too am victim to this :( But thank GOD I see only one.. A very small dent which is noticeable because you can see an area w/o paint. I'm happy with mine though.. And I truly feel for others that may be a lot worse & warrant a replacement.
