'Shhh. Don't tell anyone, but according to Walmart's global head of mobile, Gibu Thomas, the Straight Talk service offered by TracFone is not only "an incredible value," but is "one of the best kept secrets." In the beginning of this year, Walmart launched the Apple iPhone 5 along with a $45 unlimited talk, text and data plan...

Except it is far from unlimited and they will often times cut you off if you use too much data. Shady business practice..

i agree, it's probably not good for people that stream pandora music for 6 hours out of the day. but for people that dont want to pay $80-90/mon on a plan from at&t or verizon with 2gb data/mon, straight talk is much more appealing. and you can take your at&t off contract phone to straight talk, i did this when i got the lumia 920 when it launched. it uses the same towers as at&t. you get hspa+ speeds which in my area is 10-15mb down which is plenty fast for downloading a 10mb app or streaming. for people that just use their phone to surf sites and talk and text on their phone daily (which is most people), i agree with this executive, straight talk has a very appealing service.

You need to read the fine print in the contract.
Your definition of unlimited may not be congruent, i.e. in accordance, with ST's definition.
I'm don't have service with ST because of their legalese.

I do wish they were up front about this if they said 5gb at full speed then we restrict you I would be fine with it. i use a lot of data and in a five state area the coverage and data limit dont work for me

Really? An executive of the company offering this service says it's great deal? Ohhhh. I see what you did there ...

An executive promoting and praising his own product? NO WAY! It's almopst as if he has some kind of vested interest!
But no, straight talk is such an f'in joke. Worst data speeds ever, lol wal mart.

The best kept secret is the $30 T-Mobile plan. I think Wal-Mart sells that as well, so I don't quite understand...

I work for walmart part time. their own electronics associates don't reccommend it.

I work full time in electronic dept. I see alot of people buy those cards even though don't want straight talk. I'm fine with net10 even though their customer service sucks.

Used to be a great service when AT&T was part taking in the plan. Now, ou are just left with the unreliable and spotty T-Mobile. If you enjoy T-Mobile, might as well go with Gosmart mobile, same price and able to use 5G of data without slow downs.

Let them have their limited (so called "Unlimited") MVNO's; these sub-contractors / sub-providers in no way compare to a Full carrier like Verizon. These are like getting "Mobile Food Stamps"!

Why pay $100 a month on Verizon, when you can get a Straight Talk phone that uses Verizon towers and will charge you $45 a month (iPhone 5)? You may have to watch your usage a little closer but you won't have a contract and you'll save $55 a month.

Meh I have net10 50$ unlimited 4g HPSA been streaming my music non stop. So I have no problem with my unlimited data. Just glad I left at&t with their expensive plans.

I have ST, $45 a month for unlimited talk/text with 1.5GBs a month.
I use att towers so I get signal everywhere with decents speeds until I hit my limit.
So I think its the best plan available right now until the major carriers stop charging too much

This feels more like a (poorly organized) sponsored ad than an actual article.

...I was about to do the BYOD on Straight Talk or Net10 until I read LITERALLY 100's of complaints about SHADY, DIRTY, IFFY practices by these companies owned by that Drug-dealer affiliated Carlos Slim who owns the Umbrella Co.---American Móvil...STAY AWAY; nothing but headaches from these SHADY-ass satellites...

I have straight talk. I have no problems with it what so ever; the only issue id ever had was getting my phone replaced, yes it is a little unconvient however they send you a BRAND NEW device. not a refrebished or anything of the sort. and as for the comment about "limited" unlimited data; I use almsot 5 gigs of data a month; never had an issue yet!
