Steve Wozniak says Apple should do Android, is not impressed by Samsung

Apple's co-founder, Steve Wozniak, is known for speaking out his mind in a frank and direct manner. But nothing really corroborates that notion as completely as does a just-outed interview the man gave for Wired. According to Woz, Apple should do Android, and there'd by nothing to really stop it, as people go bananas for Apple products...

I wen't from iphone 3GS to nexus 4 and it's ok,but probably i'm switching back this year because of large number paid apps on ios.My point is after being on android for 2 years i'm starting to miss ios.I don't use android potential even 20% i just don't have the time to tinkle with my phone(2 kids),i just need everything to work flawleslly.I can't tell how many times my nexus rebooted on 4.2.2,4.3 and now on 4.4.2 but as i said it's ok.

Honestly, I dont understand people that say features are a bad thing. That is like saying, Ill take the cake without the icing. Even if you dont want the icing, its there for people that do. Samsung had 4g and NFC way before Apple. Are those features? Whether it's NFC or something as simple as face recognition software, its cool to have if you ever want to use it. I loved my S3 and never had a single problem until the unlock button wore out. To me, Samsung blows the competition out of the water. While touchwiz is bloated it still gives a better experience and its most noticeable on the most recent update. It works very well and its easy to use.

"truly premium handsets are still a rarity"
Really??? What do they call the GS4, Note 2, Note 3, Droid Maxx, and so on???

Says who? Plastic can definitely dent. It can also crack and melt very easily.
88. reckless562 (banned) (Posts: 1153; Member since: 09 Sep 2013)
not even. scratch and dent are 2 different things bud. its more likely to crack but damn, what the hell are you doing to ur poor phone?
and MELT?!?!? the PHONE?!?!?........ Ur doing it wrong
90. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4270; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
Have you ever seen a crushed plastic bottle? Those are all dents. Also, if you've ever seen a car crash, it's pretty obvious that plastic dents. I wasn't talking about phones specifically, just plastic, which does melt relatively easily.

so youre crushing n crashing ur phone?!? like i said
.....Youre doing it wrong!!
95. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4270; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
A regular drop is like a car crash when scaled down to a phone's size.

no its not. plastic used is probably a different kind from the kinds used in automobile bodies. plus the math is wrong for your comparison. it might seem like its the same, but the plastics strength is still the same. so yea, look at math

Some may think this guy is crazy.
And I also think that too but "This guy is crazy because he doesn't care what other say.He say thing what he think is good"
I really like this guy for honesty :)

I have used iOS, Androids, and Windows 8. Love all 3. Windows still doesn't have key APPS in banking and insurance that I want on my mobile.....especially AMEX. So I had to dump it.
I like the tweeks on Android but the "free" APPS started to take over my phone with notifications and freezes etc. So I have an iPhone 5. Hideously boring interface---but NEVER fails.
I wish Apple had all the built in core APPS like Android. Nice to login to the mobile and have everything adapt to you in 90 seconds.
I think Apple should have a dual boot. It could kill the market for most of these manufacturers.
Imagine walking in---not being sure---buying one mobile and getting 2!

I agree with this totally. I had Android for years... starting with HTC Aria. I have tried EVERY Single OS. I finally came to IOS (tried 4s a year ago) and now I am running a Iphone 5 (64g). Android is nice but the free apps and after a year of working there are always issues.... IOS for it's boring interface just works, period. I think the APP base is more robust, I prefer the Windows Live tiles, and the Blackberry swipe away and notification hub. But they all have hiccups. The IOS for it's boring standard look just works and I have yet to find something it can't do, but I still prefer the Galaxy S4's screen bar none.

Dude, I had an Aria - now that we are in the 4.0+ era of Android, things are great - as for apps not working - blame the developer - Microsoft for example, their smartglass and Halo waypoint apps have not worked in a long time now...lazy company
80. networkdood (Posts: 6330; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
wtf are you talking about? I have used free apps since the Captivate, without hardly any issues - please, stop posting bs comments on this site

Does he know that those extra features are useful for many? still if you don't like them, you can always switch them off.

People who buy iPhone do not buy its os but just and only logo
96. fzacek (Posts: 2486; Member since: 26 Jan 2014)
People who buy iPhones are lazy slackers who don't do their research before buying. If they did, they would see that iPhone is BS compared to phones like HTC One and Galaxy S4.

Steve woz said truth. Apple iphone every feature is really beautiful.. That's why their in novation is king.....
79. networkdood (Posts: 6330; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
no, wrong wrong wrong - overpriced products with marketing in your ear telling you that it is premium is not innovative - sorry for the lack of commas
46. JerryTime (Posts: 468; Member since: 09 Nov 2013)
I would consider carrying an iPhone again if apple did this, but this just isn't going to happen. No way no how.
56. lyndon420 (Posts: 3668; Member since: 11 Jul 2012)
Up until this point I had a lot of respect for the Woz. The very notion of apple adopting the Android platform would reek of pure desperation. Their phones aren't exactly pretty or premium in my mind...overpriced shouldn't be considered premium.
69. Jphones (Posts: 235; Member since: 10 Feb 2012)
Apple innovates what? How they can over charge for all their products. That don't do half the things competitors can do. They don't even have a dam back button
73. jroc74 (Posts: 5967; Member since: 30 Dec 2010)
This is one of the few times I dont agree with Woz.
Samsung does innovate....as they do components inside of smartphones too. Take Samsung out the picture and companies would probably be scrambling to find decent screens, storage, ram, etc.
74. terabyteRouser (Posts: 457; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
This is exactly why Woz is not in any executive position to make these type of decisions.

well he effing NEEDS to be!!! Damn!!
77. networkdood (Posts: 6330; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
Samsung has some nice ideas - multi window, scrolling, video stopping when a person's eyes is not on the video....Apple being called a premium phone - now there is a gimmick. Android OS on an iphone is ok by me, as long as the phone is not locked down, like the over priced/valued iProducts....
82. sunnyfpy (Posts: 71; Member since: 12 May 2013)
Not going to happen.Android will eventually dominate the smartphone market share.
92. ardiralph (Posts: 8; Member since: 13 Jun 2013)
One problem with ios is you can only buy apple products to use it. Compare it android with tons of options.
How about bringing ios to other oem's?

It's ridiculous how many closed minded individuals there are on these tech websites! Insulting anyone for liking something is infantile! We are on these websites reading about advanced technology because we enjoy it. If it's about what operating system you like that's fine just don't cut someone else down for liking something else more. All of the operating systems have their strengths and weaknesses . If there were one perfect operating system for everyone . That would just be boring! Just like it would be really boring if everyone liked all of the same things with no variation! That's what makes people interesting. Read the article if you don't agree post that. Don't insult someone for disagreeing or agreeing.!

this guy is business illiterate.
yall praise him because he's a tech geek but he can't make comments like this when he doesn't understand how business works. If he wants to take his iphone apart and build software thats co-compatible with android he should do it on his own time like he did with the computer back in the day. he had no use in selling computers to consumers just some personal hobby of his. His comments sound just like that.
