Steve Wozniak says Apple should do Android, is not impressed by Samsung

0. phoneArena 06 Feb 2014, 09:53 posted on

Apple's co-founder, Steve Wozniak, is known for speaking out his mind in a frank and direct manner. But nothing really corroborates that notion as completely as does a just-outed interview the man gave for Wired. According to Woz, Apple should do Android, and there'd by nothing to really stop it, as people go bananas for Apple products...

You can tell that and iPhone running android has been discussed many times within the company. I say they should do it I love both iOS and android equally but imessage on android would be killer!

I think he is saying that apple should make an android phone with all its bling, but yes, that shouldn't never happen.

I mean, they can't even get ios7 right almost a year later!

Lol no he isn't crazy, he just isn't a fanboy. He sees something he likes and speaks him mind, that is respectable and commendable. He openly admits what is wrong and what is right no matter who or what the subject is. Fanboys such as yourself could learn a thing or two from him.

IOS 7 in my opinion is just IOS looking similar to android while keeping the IOS feel. Imagine what kind of android skin apple could make

Him not being a fanboy is beside the point. He just says nonsensical things. Who in their right mind believes Apple should do Android? They would never generate the sales and profits they have right now.

Just because I don't have a biased opinion like you and other people doesn't mean I say "nonsensical things." Apple would too generate sales, for a lot of people their only problem with IOS is it not being open sourced like android. Put premium build quality with killer software and good advertisement and you have lots of profit

That was a neutral comment. If Sundar Pichai said Google was going to make a Nexus Windows phone I would say he nuts.

Second, there's already a number of Android phones with what you perceive as "premium build quality".

Third, you're diluting the iOS brand by going with another OS, not to mention handing a ton of money to one of your rivals.

UUMMMMmmm MEEEE?!?!? because u get a great camera (software ppl, thats y apples camera is pound 4 pound, #1), u get Great design of phone, u get the usability of ANDROID not the stiffiling closet of iOS, the actual true inovations apple made will be able to finaly realize theire TRUE potential when ANYONE can manipulate them to what they want, WHEN they want it to. hell Imagine Custom Roms on an Apple device!!! i would be VERRY intrested in buying one.......
that said, it still would need a Removable Battery and SD card slot :D

They wouldn't generate sales and profits by switching to the most prevelant mobile OS in the world? Did you really just say that?

Not to mention iFanboys all over the US would go bananas if Apple sold an iTurd and put it in a box with an Apple logo on it. iFans will buy just about anything with an Apple logo on it. It's pathetic, but true.

Yet none of my close friends (at least 15 friends contacted within the past month) use Hangouts, not to mention the rest of my friends / contacts. Hangouts was a flop.

Umm they did shake hands after the super bowl. And it is Android software on Apple hardware that he is suggesting. Not iOS on Android. I think it would be a brilliant move honestly. I know it would never happen but Apple would get millons of new customers, and it would be an innovative way to get into emerging markets with lower price devices.

Almost like they do for android. You put android in the box and people without know how just simply buy the phone because their friends note 3 is awesome then call the carrier mad that their phone is slow.

However i agree, apple fans i dont know would go nuts, but more money in any companies pockets is a win. Isn't the whole idea of android being open? I guess it's users are less than open.

hangouts? cross platform? Hmm my WP says otherwise in the app department.

I know a messaging app that is truely cross platform and doesnt even need an app for things like flipphones, and runs on the pc as well....

Yes my WP can use hangouts i think from the browser but for what? Like sauce stated, i only have hangouts because google made it so and linked it to my youtube account that was never a gmail account to begin with.

Read the article, he said as a secondary device. So the existing profits would be there and now ADDITIONAL profits and sales from people who want Android not iOS but would like the premium Apple hardware. Multiple revenue streams instead of limited to iOS. So its an ingenious plan, but one that will never happen.

When ifans see a new apple product they know what to expect and it's clear why they do. Apple has given customers satisfaction and has made their brand known for reliability.

What world are you living in? The Note 3 is not slow by any stretch of the imagination. Nor was the S3 that I use to have or the S4 I have now.

Yes. It'll diminish their iOS brand and potential iTunes profit would go to Google. iTunes is a big money maker for them, not to mention iOS has exclusive apps and the apps usually come to their store first. They risk the chance of that coming to end if they did both iOS and Android.

What they should do is what they are rumored to be doing - increase the size of the phone. That'll have a bigger impact then going to Android.

The Woz has spoken! A lot of people on this site would praise Steve over anything he said before and I too gave lots of props to the guy, I still do. Everything the Woz said is SPOT ON though it's unlikely that it's going to happen. It's like Steve just rehashed everything that's happening right now
