A nice comment. I wasn't expecting that. Well I miss SJ and Apple presentations aren't every going to be the same without him. He deserves this award for all the great work he did. Congratulations SJ you are missed.

iOk, I understand him winning a Grammy Trustee Award given the scope of the requisites for the honour. However, iDoNot understand why he was included in the Grammy memorial; he had absolutely nothing to do with the recording, writing, producing, arranging or mixing of music. So he helped invent a contrAption for listening to music using all the ideas he iStoled from everyone, along with a Dumbphone that only works on iWi-fi: 'big F'n wooo'!!! Even the FBI documented what an EviL mAn he wAs; the Grammys 2012 were ruiNed by iJobs.

okay, i think he does deserve this. after all, itunes changed the music industry forever. maybe it wasnt for the best, but the impact is undeniable.

Not to say that SJ doesn't this award or anything, but I think Napster and its creators had a much bigger effect on the music industry. Apple just figured out a way to profit from it, which was genius. When I first learned of downloadable music it was because of the Napster lawsuit and all the attention it was getting. But I can't see the music industry giving an award to the creators of Napster.

totally agree. well i first started downloading music with Kazaa, but it was pretty much the same.
also to apple and job's credit the ipod changed music forever. but again there were other companies doing very similar things first and apple just refined the mp3 player.

iTunes gave people a cheap, legal option to purchase music.

FYI: the Chinese lady on the corner of Canal Street and Bowery is cheaper; she's also legal, she showed me her papers last week.

The day after the awards show, Apple applied for a patent on winning a Grammy and filed lawsuits against all past and present Grammy winners.

i can see what he has done with the iPod and iTunes, and so called revolutionised the way people download music.. i respect him for that.. but i kinda lose that respect over the fact that this man wanted to control the world and get rid of competitors.. well, who's gotten rid of now?
