A biography about Steve Jobs, which is scheduled to be released on Monday, apparently tells the story of the falling out between Eric Schmidt and Steve Jobs, and how Jobs vowed revenge...

You're assuming there would have only been one form factor. Microsoft made both PDA and Smartphone versions of Windows Mobile, so there is no reason to believe Android would not have other versions as well.

there are plenty of androids with the bb form factor...there are plenty that are slabs and there are also quite a few with sliding keyboard...android comes in many shapes and sizes

So let me get this straight, Gemini: just because Jesus Jobs, a man who doesn't have a perfect track record of being honest or keeping in touch with reality, declared that Android was a ripoff of iOS, you believe it?
Is it sad that I expected this from you and a couple of your comrades?

@sniggly. Simple human emotions. When does a person feel betrayed? Steve would not have this vendetta against Google if he's the one who stole ideas from them. Just think about that. When did a thief felt betrayed by the people he stole from? OBVIOUSLY, Steve felt that way towards Andy because he knew what Andy did.

I didn't say that it had to be the other way around, did I? No. My point was that Jobs assumed that Schmidt had stolen the concept of the iPhone completely and that theft was represented by Android. The truth is that Android was only visually a little like iOS in its style, and used a touchscreen as its dominant form of input, but functionally was far more like BREW, Windows and Blackberry. Jobs FELT he had been stolen from and went nuts, swearing revenge if it was the last thing he did.
And thus, since Jobs declares that Android stole from iOS, it must automatically be true, right?

I second that. Take a look at what the article was about.

I just don't get android fanboys. What are you gus thinking? Do you guys honestly believe that android is the way it is right now without Apple? You android fanboys are delusional. It is so hard for you to accept that Apple started this touchscreen trend and disrupted the smartphone world. But I know why. You guys are symbian/Nokia supporters before you embraced android. You hate Apple so much for beating Nokia. Symbian is in no way, shape, or form, able to beat the iphone, and you guys saw that. Your pride is too high to accept and adopt the iphone. Hence, you support whatever OS that would come out that would challenge the iphone. And android was your answer. You would either support android or wp (as I have noticed), in the hopes that it would topple the iphone. It's all about your crushed pride that turned you into haters of the iphone. That's the psychology behind all of this denial, unreasonable mentality, and delusional world of android fanboys :)

Apple started the touchscreen trend, but it didn't invent the touchscreen or the smartphone.
118. 530gemini (Posts: 2198; Member since: 09 Sep 2010)
@michael. And I never said that Apple invented touchscreen technology, and neither did Apple. But they are responsible for making it mainstream because of their innovations and ideas of how to implement technology into their devices. What did the others say about the iphone again in 2007? They laughed at it and mocked it. What are they doing now?
126. MichaelHeller (Posts: 2705; Member since: 26 May 2011)
People laughed at the iPhone because of the cost. Apple constantly mocks the competition, then copies the best ideas around. That's the way capitalism works.

so because apple main-streamed it does that mean no one else should make touch screen phones now...thats like saying whoever popularized cars 1st then no one else should make cars...if no one was able to copy any one then nothing will ever evolve...new technology always has old technology in it...example whoever created the 1st phone lets say motorola and they main-streamed the phone and only they could make a phone, phones such as the iphone and android phones would not exist.

actually I used the iPhone 3G and it annoyed the crap out of me because I cannot listen to a clip on youtube while surfing the web, it did one thing at a time, and continue to be so to this day. Android offered me that so I went with Android.
I don't like the idea being told what and how to use what I paid for. I dont want to have to jailbreak the phone to use a simple app.
I can't stand flipping through screen after screen after screen to get to where I want.
I like the iPhone 4 design, but its made from glass, and it looks like its geared more toward the ladies than for men, so I go Android since i have choices.
I have had crash on iPhone and crash on Android, Android crashes are more often, but i can live with it but i cannot live without multitasking.
So after all, Android offered me choices so I went with it
Apple used to stand for the misfits, the rebels, the round pegs in square holes. Now they are just for the rest of the people who mostly have no idea why they need a smartphone except because it's cool, and I don't want to be one of them. So actually I live up to Apple's original ethos than iPhone users do: I try to think different.

I've never seen a single post of yours fail so hard.

Guys again...steve jobs said himself "I've been shameless about stealing great ideas..." so in my opinion, it would be hypocritical of jobs to get mad at eric for something that he did to others. just sayin'
111. 530gemini (Posts: 2198; Member since: 09 Sep 2010)
@jkap. And of course you took Steve's line literally. Steve won't be a respected figure in the world of business if he stole everything that he had put out there. He's so shameless in stealing and that's why he does not support piracy. Come on, grow a brain will ya.
113. jkapster (Posts: 50; Member since: 15 Dec 2010)
lol...nothing against jobs...i respect the man....thats what he said isn't it?...and why all the hostility gemini? everything ok at home man? (and im not trying to be sarcastic etc, just keepin the peace ; )

@jkap. Had a bad day. This is my therapy, hahahahaha.

; ) @ gemini....hope things get better dude!
112. jkapster (Posts: 50; Member since: 15 Dec 2010)
here is another thing that people don't understand.... both company's feed off of each other in regard to innovation which helps give us, the consumer, better products. if there was only apple or only android that things would improve as fast as they have? i don't think so. apple needs google just as much as google needs apple. Think of it as a symbiotic relationship! : )
116. Thump3rDX17 (Posts: 2160; Member since: 10 May 2010)
can't we all just argue about who's better instead of who stole from who?
no more propaganda and following updates in court like a soap opera or something.
i don't know what kind of man Tim Cook is but maybe he doesn't have any burning hatred towards Android and we can get all of this figured out like real men.

Wow PA hired an android troll as a writer. According to Michael H
Steve Jobs has done some very dark things the LEAST of which is this
iPhone is a mid tier phone
iPhone is an app launcher
Google bought android in 05 which means they couldn't have copied iPhone even though the first android phone didn't hit market until a full year after iPhone launched and android had a board member that knew a lot of details on ios development
Sniggly and remix are not biased and logical posters

Do you hate the iPhone so much that you wouldn't even take a FREE one from me? Okay...I'll beg. Please post the link proving that I said I pirate apps for my Mac! Please prove it! Again I will GIVE or anyone that reads this a FREE iPhone 4S if they can find that proof.
