Why is it that when I quote from Wikipedia, it's not a reliable source but when you quote Wikipedia, it's solid proof? You're losing the fight here, I think you should just go to bed and try again tomorrow.

All right, so remove Nokia from my list. Still no RIM, Samsung, Toshiba, LG, HTC or others.

Microsoft, Motorola who is now owned by google.

Come on do you seriously think Apple is isolated here. Samsung has also had some serious accusations of poor working conditions in their factories

Just because Apple wasn't alone doesn't make the actions right. All of those other companies are just as guilty as Apple of choosing cheap labor over human rights.

Google doesn't own Motorola yet.

also not every foxconn factory is made nor works the same.

Whatever you're a joke. Seriously you don't see a single thing android took from ios? Just like iOS 5 with over 200 new features doesn't have a single useful update?

Dude you're an undercover troll

Do you honestly think Apple is prefect and has never done anything dishonest or shady?

No I don't think that. What I do think is there's a huge double standard and outright lying by android fanboys on this site.

Read every single Apple article and it's non stop bashing. Apple gets bashed for not including featured and also gets bashed when they do include them. They get zero credit for innovation. According to some android has taken not one thing from Apple. When Apple sues they're fascists when they get sued its cheered. When Apple partners have human rights violations it's directly Apple's fault but a blind eye is turned at all the other companies doing he same.

Samsung products look nothing like Apple's??!!

It's ridiculous.

If you think our coverage of Apple is that bad (which I strongly disagree with), why do you keep coming back? Why not just stick with Apple-only sites that will never say anything bad about Apple?

Besides, there's a big difference between bashing and being honest.

I'm referring to commenters not the site. I think your coverage does have a google angle, but you at least make an attempt to remain objective.

I think the site overall has fair coverage.

Unfortunately, you're gonna come across that anywhere on the Internet. As I've said, fanboys take it as a personal insult when you say bad things about their brands. Couple that with the anonymity of the web, and you have a festering pool of subjective feelings trumping objecting reason every time with little repercussion.

i think most of us have agreed that samsung's app screen looks similar to an iphone app screen with the use of Touchwiz. The SGS1 looked SIMILAR to an iphone 3gs.

But, last i checked neither one of those things were patented things. the entire OS didnt look like an apple device and the entire device itself didnt look like a 3gs.. it just was a rectangle with rounded corners.

Apple gets crap because it is suing for the most vague things that it doesnt really have a right to sue on. Apple openly admitted to stepping on samsung's antenna patents but you have said over n over again that you dont care.

that is a double standard.

As I've mentioned before, those things don't need to be patented. That's why there are knockoff laws. You can't purposefully design something with the intent of creating confusion in the market. That's why you aren't allowed to sell Prado bags in a store next to the Prada. Samsung can't create an interface that's designed to confuse people into thinking they are getting something that's essentially the same as the iPhone. That's why Samsung recently changed TouchWiz to be rows of 3 apps rather than 4.

it only looks similar in very specific design aspects. the functionality of it is way different. Besides, the way it is set up was also to show off the new Super Amoled displays in the SGS1. It was meant to be bright and colorful for that effect. So it was more than to just copy apple. The front faces of the phone at the home screen is so incredibly different, that is why I dismiss the knock off laws. If samsung had the phone set up out of the box to just be a list of apps at start up and truely mimick the iphone, my tone would change. Having it be similar on the app screen which isnt a main screen, is not a big deal.

@taco50, Which part of Samsung's phone looks like an iPhone? Do you have issue with identifying shapes and sizes?

The fact is, when Apple sued Samsung, their reasons was ridiculous. When MS sued Samsung, and won, they were asking for loyalty fee instead of outright ban. But instead of praising MS for them being less of an asshole compares to Apple, you praise Apple for being noble in the past?

How about this, they(Apple) didn't sue, cause in the past they still thinks they are at the top of the world. But now they are threatened and market share shrunk a bit, so they decided to sue?

Some of Apple's lawsuits were baseless, but it seems pretty clear that Samsung tried to create a sense of confusion in the market with the TouchWiz interface and other design choices. Samsung knew that early on when consumers went anywhere but AT&T, employees would be helping customers and refer to its Android phones as being "like the iPhone," and it played that up a bit.

As I've said before, it's okay to borrow ideas and features, but it's not okay to create something with the intent of confusing the average customer. I don't think Apple's case against the Galaxy Tab should have gone anywhere, but it seems pretty clear that Samsung was trying to make something that looked like the iPhone with the Galaxy S and especially TouchWiz.

Considering that Eric was on the board of Apple, it does seem to impact the magnitude of the perception of his actions. If it was some random guy that he never met, I hardly doubt that he would invoke such a violent reaction.

However, I do feel that his willingness to go "thermonuclear war" over touch-screen, cellular devices is psychotic.

In his defense he did patent them. but I think a lot of the patents stifled the advancement of different operation systems.

Think about a class working on individual projects for a certain subject. Using poster board is the most common thing used. Somebody decides to be different and use powerpoint instead. A few people think thats a good idea and switch to that too. The person who orignanly started it says that he copied them and wants them to stop using it. you cant stop creativity like that (and in this case powerpoint is creative lol) and only have one person using it while the rest are forced to use poster board. Jobs was just being a whinny baby IMO
