Steve Jobs vowed revenge on Eric Schmidt over Android

A biography about Steve Jobs, which is scheduled to be released on Monday, apparently tells the story of the falling out between Eric Schmidt and Steve Jobs, and how Jobs vowed revenge...

You're assuming there would have only been one form factor. Microsoft made both PDA and Smartphone versions of Windows Mobile, so there is no reason to believe Android would not have other versions as well.

there are plenty of androids with the bb form factor...there are plenty that are slabs and there are also quite a few with sliding keyboard...android comes in many shapes and sizes

So let me get this straight, Gemini: just because Jesus Jobs, a man who doesn't have a perfect track record of being honest or keeping in touch with reality, declared that Android was a ripoff of iOS, you believe it?
Is it sad that I expected this from you and a couple of your comrades?
101. 530gemini posted on 21 Oct 2011, 01:08 1 3
@sniggly. Simple human emotions. When does a person feel betrayed? Steve would not have this vendetta against Google if he's the one who stole ideas from them. Just think about that. When did a thief felt betrayed by the people he stole from? OBVIOUSLY, Steve felt that way towards Andy because he knew what Andy did.
185. Sniggly posted on 21 Oct 2011, 05:41 0 0
I didn't say that it had to be the other way around, did I? No. My point was that Jobs assumed that Schmidt had stolen the concept of the iPhone completely and that theft was represented by Android. The truth is that Android was only visually a little like iOS in its style, and used a touchscreen as its dominant form of input, but functionally was far more like BREW, Windows and Blackberry. Jobs FELT he had been stolen from and went nuts, swearing revenge if it was the last thing he did.
And thus, since Jobs declares that Android stole from iOS, it must automatically be true, right?
234. NVPMOTHAF posted on 21 Oct 2011, 18:19 0 0
I second that. Take a look at what the article was about.

I just don't get android fanboys. What are you gus thinking? Do you guys honestly believe that android is the way it is right now without Apple? You android fanboys are delusional. It is so hard for you to accept that Apple started this touchscreen trend and disrupted the smartphone world. But I know why. You guys are symbian/Nokia supporters before you embraced android. You hate Apple so much for beating Nokia. Symbian is in no way, shape, or form, able to beat the iphone, and you guys saw that. Your pride is too high to accept and adopt the iphone. Hence, you support whatever OS that would come out that would challenge the iphone. And android was your answer. You would either support android or wp (as I have noticed), in the hopes that it would topple the iphone. It's all about your crushed pride that turned you into haters of the iphone. That's the psychology behind all of this denial, unreasonable mentality, and delusional world of android fanboys :)
109. MichaelHeller posted on 21 Oct 2011, 01:26 4 0
Apple started the touchscreen trend, but it didn't invent the touchscreen or the smartphone.
118. 530gemini posted on 21 Oct 2011, 01:39 0 3
@michael. And I never said that Apple invented touchscreen technology, and neither did Apple. But they are responsible for making it mainstream because of their innovations and ideas of how to implement technology into their devices. What did the others say about the iphone again in 2007? They laughed at it and mocked it. What are they doing now?
126. MichaelHeller posted on 21 Oct 2011, 01:54 4 0
People laughed at the iPhone because of the cost. Apple constantly mocks the competition, then copies the best ideas around. That's the way capitalism works.
239. taz89 posted on 21 Oct 2011, 19:55 2 0
so because apple main-streamed it does that mean no one else should make touch screen phones now...thats like saying whoever popularized cars 1st then no one else should make cars...if no one was able to copy any one then nothing will ever evolve...new technology always has old technology in it...example whoever created the 1st phone lets say motorola and they main-streamed the phone and only they could make a phone, phones such as the iphone and android phones would not exist.

actually I used the iPhone 3G and it annoyed the crap out of me because I cannot listen to a clip on youtube while surfing the web, it did one thing at a time, and continue to be so to this day. Android offered me that so I went with Android.
I don't like the idea being told what and how to use what I paid for. I dont want to have to jailbreak the phone to use a simple app.
I can't stand flipping through screen after screen after screen to get to where I want.
I like the iPhone 4 design, but its made from glass, and it looks like its geared more toward the ladies than for men, so I go Android since i have choices.
I have had crash on iPhone and crash on Android, Android crashes are more often, but i can live with it but i cannot live without multitasking.
So after all, Android offered me choices so I went with it
Apple used to stand for the misfits, the rebels, the round pegs in square holes. Now they are just for the rest of the people who mostly have no idea why they need a smartphone except because it's cool, and I don't want to be one of them. So actually I live up to Apple's original ethos than iPhone users do: I try to think different.

@jkap. And of course you took Steve's line literally. Steve won't be a respected figure in the world of business if he stole everything that he had put out there. He's so shameless in stealing and that's why he does not support piracy. Come on, grow a brain will ya.

here is another thing that people don't understand.... both company's feed off of each other in regard to innovation which helps give us, the consumer, better products. if there was only apple or only android that things would improve as fast as they have? i don't think so. apple needs google just as much as google needs apple. Think of it as a symbiotic relationship! : )

Wow PA hired an android troll as a writer. According to Michael H
Steve Jobs has done some very dark things the LEAST of which is this
iPhone is a mid tier phone
iPhone is an app launcher
Google bought android in 05 which means they couldn't have copied iPhone even though the first android phone didn't hit market until a full year after iPhone launched and android had a board member that knew a lot of details on ios development
Sniggly and remix are not biased and logical posters

Do you hate the iPhone so much that you wouldn't even take a FREE one from me? Okay...I'll beg. Please post the link proving that I said I pirate apps for my Mac! Please prove it! Yes, you should post those links for me please! What I recall saying is that "My wife's DInc is the most stable phone I have ever seen.". So if you have something with me saying something different...please post it!
Nor do I recall saying iOS 5 doesn't have any new useful features. I think i said something like there is no difference on my ipad, it took over 6 hours to upgrade, and i'm pissed because theyre taking away Siri... an app that worked just fine on my OG iPad. But maybe I blacked out mid-post, so yes could you post the link for that too?
But the one I want you to post is where I said I steal apps for my Mac. I have $399 burning a whole in my pocket and an upgrade available with your name on it if you can prove I said it!
Anti-Apple? No, I'm anti-BS no matter what company is shoveling it! So I won't turn a blind eye to Apple's BS just because I love my Mac, iPodSSS, or iPad. And you shouldn't just because you love your phone.

Come on Taco, try not to spin things. I edited the "mid-tier" article because I had meant to say that iPhone was lined up with the "upper mid-tier" pricing that Verizon seemed to be creating.
As I've said many times, Apple wants the OS itself to be simple, easy, intuitive, and overall more invisible than Android or WP7. It's a design choice set to make the apps shine, which gives the OS a feel of not being much more than an app launcher.
I never said that Google couldn't have or even didn't copy the iPhone. As I've said many times, everyone (including Apple) steals from everyone else, because that's how the industry evolves and gets better.
I named both Sniggly and remix as part of our Android fanboys. I even called remix on sounding biased just yesterday, actually.
Just because you remove context and make it sound bad doesn't mean you should continue to repeat inaccuracies.

When Jobs worked for Atari he screwed Woz out of thousands of dollars.
Jobs lied for years about fathering a child, claiming he was sterile.
Under Jobs, Apple tried to get the U.S. government to declare jailbreaking to be a felony offense under the DMCA.
Under Jobs, Apple has been adamant about "protecting its IP" while copying and stealing from other companies without so much as a single voluntary royalty payment.
Apple has allowed human rights violations to happen in the factories it contracts with, and completely ignored requests by workers and human rights groups to intervene... but will have workers arrested for losing/stealing its products, and will deploy its own police force to recover lost prototypes.
Under Jobs, Apple has repeatedly sued news sites and blobs which have leaked things like the iPhone 4 prototype, seeking to destroy those sites because the sites were creating free advertising and hype for the Apple products involved.
I shouldn't have bothered with this list, because you'll dismiss or ignore every point I made. It's pathetic, really. Oh dear god, people like me exist and comment here, Taco. Get over it. You don't think anyone else here runs into situations on the internet where the majority of commenters disagree with their views? Why do you get to be special and demand that we all get banned, especially since you're the one who's usually instigating issues?

He was an epic jerk.
Only thing he invented was - charging for the apps!(APP STORE)
I've used apps on my phone since 2005!
I could name ton of them!
Many thousand of third party java written apps were available for free download before steve got a brilliant idea to make them look like he invented the whole thing, by making it and easyly understandable to even the housewives.(by throwing a dummy, beautifully designed, ridiculously simple and stripped down app launcher on a 3.5 inch touch screen. it wasn't a frigin OS at all. )And available. And chargeable.
There. That was his entire genius.
As for android being "unstable".
I'm using an xperia arc for 3 months now. Never had a crash. Perfectly stable. Only freezed on me twice when I pushed like 40 processes at once.
Two days ago it notified me I can update to 2.3.4. Downloaded it like a breeze, and working like a breeze.

What Apple is doing is the Angry Father Syndrome.
When they started Apple was the company of the rebels and misfits. And they took pride in their pirate culture and being square pegs in round holes. They have lived that thought and culture for such a long time that they have become a personality and character themselves. And now they are not able to tolerate any opposition and others rebelling against their established order. So everything that everyone else is doing is wrong and has to be put down.
