You gotta give it to the man... without his vision, you probably wouldn't even be reading this site. And before you go bashing, I'm not saying he invented cell phones. But he did provide us with amazing products that pushed other great minds to innovate technology even more and step up there game to get to where we are today.
18. remixfa posted on 24 Aug 2011, 20:14 5 16
he disrupted a stale cellphone industry, sure. but apple innovation ended after they added 3g to the iphone.

Stop hating on jobs. He has done some extordoniary things.

The innovation that steve jobs displayed was not primarily in the arena of technological ingenuity; he changed the way people related to technology, the expectations they have about the way a piece of technology should function, and the interfaces users expect when interacting with technology. Whether the innovation stopped with 3G or not, he certainly was a master at creating a user experience that had never been had before. Technology no longer had to be ENJOYABLE only by those who understood it. And FYI, I'm an Android user so keep the Fanboy comments to yourself.

+1. Like Steve Jobs or not, he did create a market that in his absence, would probably still be stumbling around with Nokia, Palm and RIM fighting it out.
I wish Steve Jobs the best of luck with his medical issues.

I understand why Apple could be called a company with Vision, but calling Jobs the "man with vision" is a bit over-rated. You have to remember there were probably thousands of people including designers, engineers, technicians and administration staff working towards innovating technology.
Not one "man" can be the centre of all that is Apple.
The only man that ever was the epicentre of anything great was Jesus, and he too died well before his time.
43. 530gemini posted on 24 Aug 2011, 23:47 3 1
@cheetah. Why would it be overrated? Jobs was responsible in putting Apple where it's at now. It was his LEADERSHIP that placed Apple on top. Yes, there are thousands of engineers and admin staff working for him, but it was through his leadership that Apple became successful.
Btw, Jesus died at His appointed time, not before His time.
53. remixfa posted on 25 Aug 2011, 08:09 2 1
considering Jobs was a notorious nitpicker for minute detail, its actually safe to say that he is the "man with the vision". Apple failed when he left the first time and he brought it from the brink to the top of the money pile. Thats why everyone is worried about him releasing the reins again. Thats why he set up a school to teach people to "think like jobs" (we call that izombie camp lol).
love the man or hate him, steve jobs IS apple.
59. corporateJP posted on 25 Aug 2011, 10:18 1 2
I'll pay my respects to dude when he passes.
For now, I wish him well on his personal battle.
I give the man credit for being a visionary and making Apple what it became.
But now, they are a bunch of cowards who claim they invented everything related to technology and the cellular phone.
It's a real shame.

While I don't hide my extreme dislike for Apple, Steve Jobs and their style of doing business. I will say the man was a great innovator in the advancement of the the PC, but to say he was an innovator in the cellular phone, no way.
Those of us that have been around long enough to have owned cellular phone that were more walkie-talkie than phone, know. Taking the innovation of others and refining it doesn't make you an innovator, it makes you a..a..a well let's leave this polite.

Some may hate on him, some may worship him, but everyone will remember him. Everyone should pay their respects to this guy. He's created some of the world's most innovative products and all of this competition we love (android, wp7, webOS, etc.) would be nothing without him. Great job Jobs. You will be missed.

Steve Jobs is the greatest thing to happen to the tech world. He has led Apple to the biggest company ever. Steve Jobs is living gold. Steve Jobs will get better than ever. Steve Jobs is the greatest.
All of you need to stop with the crappy bashing and pay your respects.
38. snowgator posted on 24 Aug 2011, 22:14 2 1
Agree. Often poke fun at you, but if people cannot see past the phone preferences and legal differences to the influence that one man had on a worldwide industry, than they are being way to narrow minded. Anyone who has made their life easier and more entertaining with a smart phone or a tablet should at least give respect where it is due. Hope he is well. (Just saw on the news ticker he has been elected Chairman, as if that was ever in doubt.) Mighty big shoes to fill at Apple.
60. corporateJP posted on 25 Aug 2011, 10:21 1 1
The whole "seeing beyond" thing is out the door.
If Apple keeps it up, the legacy of Jobs will be forgotten, and it will look like IBM and the PC all over again, and how Apple just couldn't get it right.
(The difference now is, instead of being idle like they were in the 80's, they have to sue everyone on questionable basises)

I'm not Machead (I use android and pc), but tons of tech companies use the manufacturing "city" in China that much of mac stuff is made at. And that place tends to be "less bad" than tons of other places.
Essentially, if you use a mobile phone, period, you are participating in "blood minerals." We all are.
10. Boti95 posted on 24 Aug 2011, 20:01 6 12
Finally! NO more banned Android phones and Tablets because they look "alike". Guess he couldnt take competition. Although he did create the iPhone and the iPod, and the iMac, he didnt need to b!tch about it trying to eliminate competition by sueing (correct me for my spelling) for products that dont even look alike.

Not even... You think 1 guy is the only reason for Apple's success over the years?
20. remixfa posted on 24 Aug 2011, 20:16 9 4
yea actually. when he left the first time apple was riding high.. then without him it fell appart and nearly went bankrupt. Jobs came back and saved the company (and sold a third of it to MS for capital) bringing it to its huge current status.
I hate the man, the company, its viewpoints and all apple products, but from a pure business standpoint hes someone to be admired.
27. biophone posted on 24 Aug 2011, 20:32 1 2

54. remixfa posted on 25 Aug 2011, 08:12 3 1
time will tell.. but if history is a precedent.. apple may be in for some turbulence.
the great thing about one man being so involved the way Jobs was, is that he was on top of every little detail to make sure its right.. the bad thing about it is when he leaves, there are going to have to be multiple people to replace him, some of which may "share" his vision, but dont "have" his vision.
28. oddmanout posted on 24 Aug 2011, 20:33 2 3

No matter how MUCH you HATE Apple, Steve still innovated the consumer electronics space so much we would not be at where we are today. The way we interact with our devices would be different. This isn't about Apple, this is an icon leaving the industry.
Cancer is nothing to play around with. i truly hope he is ok. or gets better.

24. protozeloz posted on 24 Aug 2011, 20:25 2 0
He has done a great job. Now its time for him to passage the flag to the new generations we may never seen someone like him again. Hope the person that replaces him understands that. No one should be asked to wear jobs shoes as one might fall , but get new shoes to walk alongside with the times. One thing I would like the CEO to copy from jobs it's being true to themselves as we don't need another Steve but someone who will make him proud

39. jcoberg10 posted on 24 Aug 2011, 22:36 3 1
Why respect a man because he is "dying" if you had rspect for him before great if you didn't no big deal but don't change your stance just because he is ill. Apple can not be complimented for revolutionizing the industry when they are currently trying to take it down. In fact they have done more harm to the industry than help. They have created an army of customers that have no idea the capabilities of a smartphone. And have taken such a large share of the profits they have put many other companies out of business. They don't care about the consumer only their bottom line.
41. htc (unregistered) posted on 24 Aug 2011, 23:41 1 1
There's one more thing job have to do now set up fundings to help people like Bill gates did ....I mean us consumers gave a lot to Apple ,they should do something now that US is in such financial crisis

I can see a green robot, with a crown and a throne in the future. Specially after SJ news today and Google buying Motorola, RIM performing poorly and Web OS being canceled. Even if Mango turns out to be great (and I think it will) it will take a lot of resources to slow down the momentum Android has right now.
