Stephen Elop to earn $25.4 million to return to Microsoft
0. phoneArena 19 Sep 2013, 13:16 posted on
Stephen Elop is already a very rich man, and given that he has the inside track on being the next Microsoft CEO, he will undoubtedly continue to make gobs and gobs of money before his career is over. Even so, Elop is set to earn a hefty chunk just for being part of the acquisition of Nokia's devices unit by Microsoft. According to a new filing, Stephen Elop is owed €18.8 million (~$25.4 million) in order to return to Microsoft...

"There is little worry that the deal will not be approved" what does this mean??? So is there still hope ???
I read an article in gsmarena that nokia still continue working on an Android smartphone(prototype).

There is still hope because Nokia shareholders haven't approved the deal.....an extraordinary general meeting is to conducted by Nokia in the month of November for shareholder's approval.....I just hope that they don't agree for it.

The deal also has to pass US and EU regulatory approval.

indeed. I cant think of many men that has conned a group of intelligent investors and board members as well as Elop has done. Nokia could have possibly regained their #1 phone maker status if they didnt sell their soul to Microsoft and did a huge revamp of their software or went with Android instead.

Elop is either traitor or d***a**.He was CEO of nokia but worked for M$.a trojan horse..yaa.. nokia's board members were foolish enough to trust him.a lesson for everybody.

If Elop was a trojan horse,M$ should make him their CEO.But IF he is a foolish d***a** ,then M$ should not.Who knows he may end up selling M$ to apple.Last one was a joke. :D

Do you watch tv? How does being an idiot have anything to do with being a millionaire? Watch reality tv and ask that again.

But, but, but... the majority of faces in reality TV shows are idiots.

Has someone gone mad? Paying this much to Elop for driving Nokia into failure?! I'm leaving this planet, and the Finns aren't the only ones that think Microsoft should pay more for Nokia, we think that in America as well

Awesome. $25 million for digging the last few feet of Nokia's grave. This is why people distrust big business. CEOs get rewarded no matter how poor a job they do.

he's returning to microsoft, because he's mission has been accomplished..

Hold off until November, the last hope is the shareholders and regulatory approval from the European Union

Obviously Microsoft thinks he did a good job. He delivered them a respected, popular, high-quality phone manufacturer just when MS needed one. He's the devil to Nokia fans, but inside MS, he must be a freakin' god.

For heavens sake... He had little to do with the whole transaction.. In fact it was Risto S. The chairman that did most of the talks. Also Elop can't and couldn't make any of the decisions without the board BUT I'm sure you all would rather cry that it was just Elop. This whole idea that he was the one that killed Nokia is complete nonsense and almost comical if you had any idea how a company is ran and the structures.

thank you for making sense. unfortunately the majority of those that comment forgot the ceo is the face of the company and the board makes the decisions
24. Penny (Posts: 1386; Member since: 04 Feb 2011)
Yep, you make sense. However, I would note that a CEO is usually the company's best evangelist, and therefore often capable of selling even the board on ideas that he/she wants to see pass.

Elop the Mole, Elop the termite. Destroys Nokia and hands it over to MS for Peanuts. Anyone who brokers such a deal will obviously get a good commission.

if the deal fail through and nokia ditch elop to build new nokia android phone, nokia share will soar 10 time the price now, take my words for that

Haha that's a first isn't it,.... asking for the horse back.

If his decisions are proven to have been in favor of devaluing stock so it can be bought cheaper, he needs to go to jail for a long long time.

PLEASE BOYCOTT THIS ID*@#T AND ST*@ MS COMPANY
29. SIGPRO (Posts: 693; Member since: 03 Oct 2012)
Elop was a trojan horse, i hope the shareolders dont agree with the takeover!
Nokia complained many times that MS was really slow updating WP and lacked of apps.
I think this was just a setup so that Nokia would go down and MS could buy it at a cheap price.
Nokia should dump MS and continue with their one path even if it means that for now they will have phones with Android. And Nokia should have kept Meego! Maybe they can use Sailfish OS, because Sailfish will be the next big thing!

I will vote to reject the deal or microsoft pay more billions to Nokia.

Elop getting Financial compensation for his past duties as being a Companies CEO is nothing NEW it happens all the time when Companies change hands. There is too much BS about Mr
ELOP down weakening Nokia to make easy for Microsoft to buy it. People who know Elop know he wanted to be a CEO and by know means wanted to loose his position. Nokia was about to fold up before MR Elop Got there. Nokia and Blackberry although they were Powerhouse players did not have strong enough technology to keep up with the Apple iphone and Google Android smart phones. Mr Elop's and Nokia's Effort's did make nokia MS best OEM for selling Windows smart phones and new info points out that Nokia under his leadership was getting
Nokia smart phones capable of running the Android OS smart phones Nokia under Elop was getting ready to sell both Android and Windows smart phiones like Samsung and HTC and others do. Mr Elop was no Dummy under his leadership there would have been a few nokia Android smart phones. Elop is gone now and now there will be none so why don't you trolls shut up
