Stephen Elop throws a TV show host's iPhone away, promises to replace it with a Nokia phone

0. phoneArena 22 Mar 2013, 04:35 posted on

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop decided to have some fun at a Finnish TV show, and what better way to entertain the audience than throwing the host's phone on the floor?! Even better when the phone in question is an iPhone...

Would all you spamboys shut up already.. Doom doom for WP again? Right.. WP platform will be just fine and is doing fine. This interview was funny and its not about arrogance, that interviewer wouldn't stop so that's what he gets

The problem with WP is that nokia is doing its bit, but it is lacking in the features that I may or may not use number. MSFT needs to bring this to WP ASAP and then maybe Lumias may sell 10M+/quarter. On the other hand, BB has only BB10 to focus on so I'd give them a chance as well.

Name 10 actual things WP8 can't do that a typical everyday user wouldn't be able to do with it, excepting customization or certain apps.

I won't hold my breath.

Read articles here:http://techland.time.com/2012/11/29/the-trouble-with-windows-phone-8-its-not-the-apps-its-the-basics/ or here:http://www.wpsauce.com/2013/02/windows-phone-8-strictly-mediocre-microsoft-worried.html . Liking it is good, I do like WP too but acknowledging its faults is something that we should do, so that we get better products.

I sure hope this was a staged action. Consider the media fallout if this device happened to be the last gift from a dead loved one. IMO, this was not a good move on Elop's part, even if it was staged. It simply invites negative emotions at a time when Nokia needs positive attention.

This is an unacceptable act! He should respect his competitors and their products.

In this industry you need to have balls and as time goes on since he became CEO I see Elop does have some.

Well since even a 520 is better than an iPhone, ANY Lumia would be an improvement! Wouldn't have to be "high-end" (but if the CEO is involved, it would almost certainly be top-of-the-line).

Why would they care about the 928? Its supposed to be for Verizon, a CDMA carrier with non-standard LTE; Nokia would have to release a GSM version for it to be useful internationally

this is sooo funny, not the interview but the reaction on here

face it if this was samsungs CEO who threw the iphone all theres fanboys and android trolls would be cheering. but as its nokia they know try to say you have to respect other competitors etc

double standards again and so pathetic

I dont think that was bad or disrespectful at all! Okay, maybe it was an "inappropriate" thing to do, but it was done in jest. Kinda like trash talking. Magic and Jordan would do it all the time on and off the court, but neither ever took it too serious. They're friends in life but they still competitors by nature... Same here! Friends in court, but competitors in the business realm.

That was actually kind of funny. Honestly, Android is starting to get stale to me. I would love a Windows Phone device, however, Sprint seems to have no faith in it. Sprint needs a Lumia device. I know it'd sell like hotcakes! And I know a lot of people who actually like Windows Phone.
