0. phoneArena posted on 15 Mar 2013, 18:20

The latest monthly market share stats are out from StatCounter and it shows that while Android had a flat month with a 36.9% share of the global smartphone market in February, the Apple iPhone came alive and has run up from 23.3% in December to 27.2% in February; this comes amid speculation that Foxconn has started production of the Apple iPhone 5S...

That's what happens when you make excellent products.

Correction: "Excellent Brand Image and marketing"
many brands make an excellent cell phones but still hardly make a huge profit

Iphone has momentum and suppliers face order cut. Nice correlation shows how bogus statcounter data could be :D

well if you guys think about it, apple is not only making a phone, Apple also has to make the os that comes with it, and the huge app store contents. That's y sometimes it lacks a lil bit of this and that but ppl go crazy. Google simply make the OS and doesnt have to worry about the physical design of any hard product or worry about hardware and its availability and stuff. Samsung on the other hand just need to worry about making a phone and pretty much nothing else because really features that samsung create is no where near a whole OS, that's just a different level. And after all, i dont see why these Americans are so anti Apple. You guys seem to be happy when Sony, JVC, Panasonic ruled the market in the 90s, and still happy about Samsung and LG dominance today. But if an American company dominate it piss the crap out of Americans. I simply dont get it. Even though i have switch to android now, i still like Apple and planning to switch back and forth between the 2 platforms for fun. Aint die hard fan of whatever, just more patriotic about American companies vs. foreign companies. Yup back samsung up some more and hope apple will die so that the 12,000+ American professional employees in Cupertino, CA will lose there jobs. Then next we complain about the government being incompetence.

28. cretinick posted on 17 Mar 2013, 12:02

Apple still is the #1 in the USA. iOS 53.48%, Android 38.83%.

People do not like when Apple playing dirty for fear of foreign companies, and tries to limit the market only to their own products.

There are some dumbasses that think Apple vs. Samsung vs. Microsoft vs. Google vs. etc. is a college football game and acts like a cheerleader. But they are exceptions.

This card of "American professional employees in Cupertino" is lame. All the others foreign companies have American employees in US and outside the US. Just like Apple employs more chineses in the iPhone's factories (indirectly), outside the US, than all their US staff.

Companies dont have country. Their country is the money. And Apple could change all their staff to Seychelles with Russian employees, if this bring more money to their stock holders.

30. KennethP4V posted on 19 Mar 2013, 03:28

no buddy it is not even playing fear, it is a warning. Apple headquarter hire more than 12k professional employees. You can do all the fact check to see if Samsung, HTC, and Nokia hire that many professional employees in the US combined. If apple really collapse, you think these guys will be able to take over those 12k employees, and i am not talking about the sales representatives at apple stores. Our economy already gave up so many manufacturing jobs to oversea, like you said foxconn China. Now what we have left are these few professional jobs, but if you dont support it we will lose it all. Am i playing fear? Look at motorola, even after google acquired it still laid off thousands and thousands of employees.

Why do i say all this? I am trying to show you guys why I praised apple so much. It is like the only American tech company that is able to stand against these foreign competitors. If you look at the 90s, can you name me an American tech company that can compete in the electronics market? No, you cant, because in the 90s, Sony, JVC, Panasonic, and Sharp simply dominated the US market. Then we had Dell and HP doing good to lead in the computer market for a bit, but now both are struggling against underdogs like Lenovo, Asus, and Acer. Then in the car industry we have GM and Ford lost its #1 spot to Toyota. Apple is like the only notable American tech company that can stood strong against foreign companies, and im not talking about software. Im pretty sure all other tech companies view apple as the biggest obstacle in the US market, they arent as scared of the motorola X phone compared to the iPhone, do you agree? One X Phone cant knock the 4 already well established Galaxy S, to be honest. Now apple is like the only last hope for the US in term of a hardware company. Of course you have choices to get whatever you want, but you dont have to bash apple to the point where you want it to be immediately destroyed, especially if ur an American.

31. cretinick posted on 19 Mar 2013, 10:40

For the record, I'm not against Apple. I just do not like their software. (Mac OS and iOS) But I think They have the best computers, laptops and music players. The iPhone was the best and still is one of the best phones. But all of them come with a plastered and limited system.

For some people I think the iPhone is really the best choise, and I recommend.

But When Apple wants to block the sales of patent infringement of competition Claiming geometric shapes, or other ridiculous nonsenses, So I'm really grudgingly with Apple.

Sony, Lg, Samsung, HTC, etc.. They produce almost all the technologies that are used in their devices. Screens, Cameras, Processors, Modems, Ram, Network ... Apple just buy these components of these same companies and assembles a project, which is run by another company (also foreign). Sure! They also conduct research and develop new technologies. Usually in partnerships with other companies, like Intel. But what Apple sells, mostly, is created produced and assembled by other companies. Sony Lg, HTC and Samsung create and sell technology, which Apple buys and resells with a beautiful label.

They need to sink some of that cash into ios7

3. SamsungTheSavior (banned) posted on 15 Mar 2013, 19:40 5 4

They need to use the cash to discontinue it.

9. darkkjedii posted on 15 Mar 2013, 20:36 3 4

That's a very stupid and immature statement. Your screen name says it all. You don't discontinue the single best selling line of phones in history kiddo.

10. SamsungTheSavior (banned) posted on 15 Mar 2013, 20:43 5

Your right, you don't discontinue the Galaxy phones.

13. darkkjedii posted on 15 Mar 2013, 21:47 1 2

Yeah whatever you say. I'm done with you though, respond as you will and please move on. I do not do the childish flame war thing. I'd also prefer to chat with more mature people. ExperiaDroid, whateverman, Tedkord, please substitute for this kid

Most of your comments I see tend to be picking fights with people.

18. rusticguy posted on 15 Mar 2013, 23:35

Currently they are sinking into FIBRE (glass) :D

4. cretinick posted on 15 Mar 2013, 19:53 4

With the rumored low cost iPhone coming this year, the iOS will probably get close to Android...

And no! I'm not an iSheep. I never had an Apple product and I'm very happy with my Android. And I do not even think in change for iOS, WP8 or BB10.

12. networkdood posted on 15 Mar 2013, 21:26 4

I agree on that, and I also could care less about market share.

19. rusticguy posted on 15 Mar 2013, 23:37

Only if they can match a 5 inch HD screen phone (or FHD now) for 200$ that it sells in China. ... other than that Fiberglass will cannibalize Glass :D

24. KennethP4V posted on 16 Mar 2013, 15:00 1 1

Calling other American user an isheep just because Samsung told you to do it, where is your brainn? Read comment #23 if you have time, and start thinking about it.

5. clevername posted on 15 Mar 2013, 19:54 5 2

I really hope they put money into ios7. They need a revamp. Badly.

6. cretinick posted on 15 Mar 2013, 20:05 2

I think that too. But the majority of the consumers don't think about that. They don't care... Apple will keep selling tons of iPhones no matter what.

But the recent changes in the staff indicate that they will make some big changes in the iOS too. If not this year, certainly in the next.

Come on apple!!!

11. Aeires (unregistered) posted on 15 Mar 2013, 20:53

What numbers is this based on? Total phones in use, new phones, ....? If you follow the links, you can change the charts and Antarctica is interesting because at times there's OS' with 100%. It's actually kinda funny because at some points there's no OS represented, must be when the scientists go home to warm up.

16. darkkjedii posted on 15 Mar 2013, 22:46 1

One month it's apple, the next google. These two platforms are obviously the top two, I happen to enjoy both though so its a moot point to me.

21. jroc74 posted on 16 Mar 2013, 07:51

Yea....its basically a back n forth with the iPhone and Android. This is old news. I'm more interested in whats gonna happen with BB and WP.

I didnt see WP on the chart, I wonder why...I know WP isnt labeled unknown or other...

20. TheMan posted on 16 Mar 2013, 00:38

It's one month, so we'll see in the coming ones whether there was a GS4 Effect, i.e.,just as buyers wait for the new iPhone launch, there are those doing so for Galaxy launches, though not a rabidly.

25. darac posted on 16 Mar 2013, 16:08

This is the accumulated share, but still doesn't make sense at all.. in the smartphone market, Android have 75% and iOS about 20% share, and in quarterly sales Android stomps it with 140M vs. 46M.
Even Samsung alone heavily outsells Apple.

SO HOW CAN APPLE GAIN THE SHARE??

29. Credo posted on 17 Mar 2013, 21:12

yes sure Samsung alone outsells Apple, how many devices does Samsung announces every week -_- Apple 1 a year .....

&&& no i'm not an iCheep, my profilepicture tells it all =)

26. shirtlessrabbit4 posted on 16 Mar 2013, 17:15
