Sprint's version of the Samsung GALAXY Nexus needs update to repair connectivity issue

0. phoneArena posted on 27 Apr 2012, 17:08

Sure, you wouldn't expect the Sprint variant of the Samsung GALAXY Nexus to offer LTE connectivity because the carrier does not offer LTE service yet; the problem is that the model is having problems hooking up to Sprint's 3G network...

How is it this happens?

Seriously Sprint/Samsung. Test the damn device properly before releasing it. How is this a miss on the radar of making sure a phone works. This is just horrible. No Lte up yet and users can't even use 3g. I lol at this. Hopefully the Htc evo 4g LTE doesn't have this problem. Might as well credit each user a prorated credit for what they don't get to use for the time frame.

Everyone knows Samsung has the weakest signal strength of any phone...I can't remember the last time a new Samsung smart phone came out that didnt have a reception issue and this is going back to the instinct, if you can even call that a smart phone.

38. blazee posted on 28 Apr 2012, 09:39 1

i really have no connectivity issues on my verizon galaxy nexus whatsoever. I had a D2 before this phone and i see a better reception on my gnex then my motorola. I bet you dont even own a samsung phone just circulating the rumors you have read online.

41. lsutigers posted on 28 Apr 2012, 17:04 2

Ehh, this is a well known issue with Samsung Radios. Compare your Galaxy Nexus with a Moto RAZR and you will see the difference, its not just on Sprint.

Motorola is well known for quality radios, Samsung is well known for the opposite.

43. KingKurogiii posted on 28 Apr 2012, 21:05 1

mmhmm! ever notice that Football Coaches always wear big Motorola Headsets?

45. pattypatterson posted on 29 Apr 2012, 15:49

Actually I use the galaxy s2 and is by far the worst signal strength I have had to deal with since the instinct...

I am not suprised. Samsung Moment and Sprint ...some of you out there will know exactly what I mean.

i know exactly what you mean!

3. shamataa posted on 27 Apr 2012, 17:36 5

This is funny. A good device and it already has a problem.

4. rockstarlive posted on 27 Apr 2012, 17:39 4

That sucks.

5. torr310 posted on 27 Apr 2012, 17:45 3

Guys, check my little project about Galaxy SIII:http://www.nextgalaxybirthday.com/
It's a little bit buggy on IE but Chrome, Firefox, Safari works ok.

New Galaxy - can't wait :)

8. Mark.J.Linskiy posted on 27 Apr 2012, 18:10 1

Nice, that was pretty cool. Lol, maybe Samsung will hook you up.

21. steenko posted on 27 Apr 2012, 19:05

Glad you like it.

12. paulyyd posted on 27 Apr 2012, 18:29

@steenko well thats f**king cute. i don't know where you from but in america we don't just give out things for free to complete strangers, WE WORK FOR THEM like everyone else, just cause its your birthday doesn't mean a god dang thing, so get your ass a job if you want something. thats what everyone else does bucko

19. LordBonztie posted on 27 Apr 2012, 18:54 1

well that was harsh.

20. steenko posted on 27 Apr 2012, 19:03 1

Well, I really can't wait for new Galaxy and this project was just a little idea that came to me because of coincidence of dates - I am sorry you misunderstand my point.

And your only assumption is wrong - I have a good job and I am working 10 to 14 hours a day and this project was my personal piece of creation.

26. Pdubb posted on 27 Apr 2012, 20:12 3

America??!! The land of the FREE! We expect free things all the time. Phonearena and Radio Shack are giving away a phone for free for the third time in recent weeks I think. Besides that was darn creative. WTG steenko!

31. max9777 posted on 28 Apr 2012, 00:35 1

paulyyd, You are probably one of those American douche bags who says that immigrants steal jobs from you? If you have nothing nice to say to a persons Idea than keep your Dumb criticism to yourself.

Why try to put someone down for a creative idea?
Does it make you feel better?
Do you want a pacifier and your moms tit to make you feel better and wanted in this world?

Good Job steenko, was a clever little project

44. steenko posted on 29 Apr 2012, 04:21

Thanks guys, I am glad you like it - say yes to creative ideas :)

16. alpinejason posted on 27 Apr 2012, 18:42 1

love what you did also i must admit that was pretty clever

Sprint needs more than a software update to fix their connectivity issues.

9. RORYREVOLUTION posted on 27 Apr 2012, 18:14

lol Sprint in GENERAL needs to fix their network issues.

I had the Samsung Epic, awesome phone, HORRIBLE network connection.

Samsung Epic Touch, AMAZING phone, HORRIBLE network connection.

And now this, the Galaxy Nexus on Sprint. lol

And I know it its just a Samsung issue. I have never had any connection problems with the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon, nor has my friend had issues with his Droid Charge.

13. taco50 (banned) posted on 27 Apr 2012, 18:34

Didn't you say you had really good reception with the 4s

24. RORYREVOLUTION posted on 27 Apr 2012, 19:37

It was much improved over the android phones I tried out.

18. Non_Sequitur posted on 27 Apr 2012, 18:43 1

I have the Epic 4G Touch, but it hasn't had any issues with connectivity. Just Sprint's abysmal data speeds.

46. GeekMovement posted on 29 Apr 2012, 21:33

I have an Epic 4G Touch as well and I haven't faced any issues with connectivity, but i can't say it's the strongest either. If Samsung's radios were great it truly would make the galaxy series the best.

32. max9777 posted on 28 Apr 2012, 00:40 1

where do you live? I had GS2 and with Sprint, I traveled cross country with it and did not have any connection issues. Service did drop in my area big time though. I cannot even make a call from my house unless im by the window.

10. italiapride503 posted on 27 Apr 2012, 18:20

How could you people not see this before...it was a major issue with the Verizon version...I just find it rather ammusing that people havent read about these issues before on the Verizon line up before it was released to Sprint...all I can do is laugh!!

11. KingKurogiii posted on 27 Apr 2012, 18:22

if Sprint has any 4G issues i will troll unlike anything you've ever seen after all the times Sprint fanboys come in and say "oh well Sprint won't have any of the network issues Verizon has because Sprint will put time and CARE into their network."

42. lsutigers posted on 28 Apr 2012, 18:09

Dude you are constantly trolling, nothing new!!!

47. KingKurogiii posted on 29 Apr 2012, 22:14

oh am i now? tell me about how often i'm wrong. :P

14. dejahu posted on 27 Apr 2012, 18:35 2

@KingKurogiii, I don't think anyone would ever talk bad about Verizon's network and praise Sprint's in the same sentence. Dan Hesse wouldn't even be that stupid.

17. alpinejason posted on 27 Apr 2012, 18:43

took the words right out of my mouth

22. KingKurogiii posted on 27 Apr 2012, 19:16

oh you'd be surprised. Sprint Fans are the worst behind most iFans i think.

34. ngo2dd posted on 28 Apr 2012, 02:11

Nope not even close. Samsung fans are the worst now. Every android article about a phone someone has to say something about the SGS3

35. bvalde09 posted on 28 Apr 2012, 02:26 1

Same thing happen when the new ipad was coming out

36. KingKurogiii posted on 28 Apr 2012, 03:49 1

well they're mostly right. Samsung is doing a lot to be proud of.

15. niteryda8 posted on 27 Apr 2012, 18:40

It's funny how so many people say its a Sprint Network thing, when the phone is having issues connecting to the network. It's nothing new, because most of Samsung's high end Android devices have always had some kind of issue right after they launch. Usually its a gps issue like they've had the last few phones they launched on various carriers, not just sprint. It's really the main reason that I purchase HTC products to begin with. Even when Samsung comes out with a fix, it's probably gonna mess up something else, which always seems to happen. But I do have to say I do want that Samsung note, with that huge screen, to bad it's on At&t.

23. Mobile-X-Pert posted on 27 Apr 2012, 19:29 1

Now i'm wondering if Samsung will be able to provide a fix faster than Nokia did with the Lumia 900.

28. adamross55 posted on 27 Apr 2012, 23:00

I have a love-hate relationship with the galaxy nexus. Ive been through 4 devices (on Verizon) because i cant maintain a solid connection. Not just 4G, 3G as well. The phone would randomly drop to zero bars. Its terribly frustrating because I LOVE the device. Its beautiful display, stock ICS, the design, etc. I finally gave up and went back to AT&T. Clearly the Gnex has some sort of radio problem.

29. wumberpeb posted on 28 Apr 2012, 00:17

I can almost guarantee it's an issue with ICS and Samsung. My Nexus had zero issues with bars dropping to zero on Gingerbread 2.3.7, however after the update to ICS the bars occasionally drop anywhere from full to zero without reason. 4.0.4 is on both the Nexus S and the Gnex, both have the same issues. It's never affected data speeds or call quality, but it freaks out some customers when they see it. Doesn't happen often enough to lose sleep over. My money is on ICS and Samsung, not sprint

30. wumberpeb posted on 28 Apr 2012, 00:22 1

I'm not sure what sprint fans you're talking about, but I'm one of them and I certainly don't believe we come off as anything close to Apple fans. I didn't think anyone was dumb enough to correlate the two

Sprint 4g is nonexistent. Data speeds suck. Coverage is iffy. Phone selection is ok. I think that covers it all

33. ngo2dd posted on 28 Apr 2012, 01:16

It is samsung, it always happen, Samsung has bad radio all the time.

39. Csoki posted on 28 Apr 2012, 11:53

Go figure this phone is such a POS. Had five of them and the mic cut out during calls daily on every last one of them. The alarm clock is terrible as well among alot of other things. And wheres the update what a joke.. This phone belongs on Sprint there perfect for each other.

40. KingKurogiii posted on 28 Apr 2012, 12:15

sounds like you need a Razr... xD
