Sprint's Dan Hesse teases "great story around 4G" this fall

Sprint's chief executive Dan Hesse has been one of the most outspoken opponents of the AT&T-Mobile deal, but at the same time the carrier has done little in terms of 4G expansion in the last year…

So far Sprint has showed me that they mean business. I can't wait for this "great story about 4G this fall". I hope they announce OFFICIALLY their new LTE service. Sprint IS the only carrier with truly UNLIMITED 4G. I am so glad I am with Sprint. They have been on a roll with these insanely powerful phones like the HTC Evo 3D, the Motorola Photon 4G, & maybe will be the first carrier to release the Samsung Galaxy S II as the Galaxy Within. Now this fall we will get some great news on the future of Sprint's 4G service. It's a wonderful time to be a Sprint customer, & I feel like they will keep adding NEW customers because the public will get sick of tiered 4G plans as opposed to Sprints beautiful UNLIMITED 4G service. Keep the great work coming Sprint, like I always say I am an extremely satisfied & super happy customer. Thank you Sprint & Dan Hesse!

I am looking forward to a 4g Wp7,the arrive is nice,for now
I like sprint but living in a rural are the reception is not good out side of city limits, used to be 2 sprint stores, now none.Sprint has a bad rap here due to reception/service. Everyone loves Verizon, they have a few stores and BECAUSE THEY ARE VISIBLY ACTIVE INSTALLING TOWERS. If sprint does something to improve service its ABOUT TIME,especially considering the $10.00smartphone fee

I feel for you, I really do. I have Sprint because I did my research & saw Sprint where I live is VERY strong & the 4G coverage is phenomenal. AT&T is weak where I live & so is T-Mobile, that is why I would never consider them. If Sprint is weak where you live then you may need to go to another carrier. To complain about bad service in an area that has a bad reputation like you say it does is flabbergasting to me. If you are willing to choose Sprint where Sprint is not viable then that is on you. I know if Sprint was bad where I live I would not have chosen them. If I am going to spend money on a service, I want it to work. I will never spend money on a service that maybe will work.

Still unsure why their 4G coverage map doesn't indicate that Albany NY and its surrounding areas have had 4G since the first week of April...I get that there's a testing phase but its the middle of July

Unless LightSquared can sort out their issues with GPS signal interference, it is going to be a non-starter. Telling GPS manufacturers to add a filter to their products won't cut it - what about all of the GPS units that are currently on the market? Do they really think that the U.S. government is going to put its massive investment in GPS (and all of the deployed receivers) in jeopardy?

I agree, LightSquared will have to get an answer to the GPS issue. It's in the best interest to BOTH Sprint & LightSquared. I feel confident that this GPS problem will be a non issue. Plus the FCC will not let a technology loose that will negatively affect people's GPS signals. All in all I don't think Dan Hesse will make an announcement that LTE is coming to Sprint, unless the GPS issue is resolved. He is too savvy of a man to put himself & Sprint in that type predicament.

EVen though Lightsquared has pinted out the issue is the pre-existing GPS has bled over to the spectrum Lightsquared owns, I do not expect anyone in positions of authority to come down on thier side. unfortunately... Maybe they can get thier money back and buy different spectrum?

Could it be the IPhone 5 (in 4G) coming to Sprint?

@superandroid- when I signed on there were 2sprint stores, both closed due to sprints lack of interest in the area. I travel often and sprint works great as well as good in the biggest city around(40,000) its just surrounding areas are garbage and I don't see 4g here anytime soon at this pace,I like sprints plans and am smart enough to know we can find pros and cons with all the major carriers,i just want sprint to focus more on rural areas

Sprint needs to focus on enhancing their 3G speeds. I don't know about the rest of the country, but here in So. Cal. the speeds are horrible compared to even Verizon (not to mention At&t and T-Mobile). Considering their 4G coverage is pretty weak, they should really focus on improving the quality of their 3G network in the near future. I get speeds as low as 30kb download during peak hours on 3G. Other times range between 200kb and 500kb. That's not good.

Honestly 2011 has been a GREAT YEAR FOR SPRINT so much has taken place throughout this year. First the release of the EVO SHIFT 4G, The google voice integration, Sprint working along with google on NFC SUPPORT, the Nexus S4g being brought to sprint, The bump in speed increase the network recieved both 3g and 4g, The gingerbread update for the Evo 4g, The introduction of the EVO 3D, The upcoming Motorola Photon 4g, as well as the upcoming Htc Hero 4g, and Samsung within 4g all the way to the announcement of the new iphone that will take place in Sept/Oct, All in all this has truly been a great year on sprint having (4) Dualcore affordable devices on one network to go along with the Google phone Nexus S4g and with the possibility of HTC making the new upcoming Nexus 3 you can rest assured that if HTC is selected by Google that the new Nexus 3 will appear on sprint first before any other carrier. People just don't seem to understand the business relationship that exist between Google/Sprint/Htc/Qualcomm place all these 4 together and watch how great android will remain in the smartphone/tablet world. I place all my support behind this group 100% percent and those WHO DON'T LIKE THAT.......TOO BAD..........
